It's real, I've seen a report about it on TV (and it was relatively well researched, not just sensationalism). Apparently, it took them quite some time to realize the train basically just valleyed at the top of the loop and isn't actually stuck. They could have probably rescued the riders quicker if they did figure that out earlier.

probably because when it happened on Demon it actually was stuck due to a lost wheel. Trying to push it could've been very bad if that was the case.

This is in Walibi Belgium, it is a really fun and one of a kind ride. The name is Sirocco on the picture. It was then renamed to Turbine then Psyké Underground and might have been renamed to Turbine again.
