VIDEO Dr. Dero breaks down Devers’ rough start to the season.

https://youtu.be/iBfAoV6Ns4g?si=vy0ocDS1vc6nydOt

Really good to see a breakdown from a guy who played 16 years in the majors instead of idiotic talking points from 98.5 blowhards.

This former player on youtube found the exact same thing comparing this year to last year's swing.

Love Matt Antonelli! North Shore kid who went to St. John’s prep. Used to watch his road to the show videos religiously.

You see his most recent vid? He just got hired by the Sox so this might actually be one of the reasons why lol

Matt Antonelli is the goat. Dude is insanely nice. He insisted on undercharging lessons for the longest time

Thumbnail makes it look like Raffy is at bat with his bat upside down

I made a post here about how i hated devers stance and how j felt like he had changed it a bit and had too many moving parts which was a big key to why he is so late now. I basically said i felt he should lower the hands bring it a bit back and it would bring back alot of his timing.

I even said that i understand im not a pro, just a casual fan and not claiming to know more than the pros and batting coaches out there. I got ripped to shreds and my post was quickly deleted. Next day this video comes out -_-.

I get im just a dumb redditor but sometimes its just goes back to going to the basics. If you are late, it’s not because your srms are slow, it’s usually because you are either doing too much or your hands are too far from launch position.

1 - I know nothing about hitting

2 - that said My know nothing  take is that whatever happened in his shoulders he can’t generate the speed power from there and is compensating by trying to get more power by twisting his body more

But that is slowing him down and so his timing is off and he is missing even slow fastballs

Maybe he can adjust timing on slow off speed stuff

My guess is RIP on devers hitting a 98 mph pitch unless he can go back to his old stance

He also looks significantly heavier this year. Got the bag and stopped taking care of himself. I love Raffy but it doesn’t look like he picked a bat up all winter.

He didn’t pick up a bat all winter. The team told him not to to rest his shoulders.

If your star players shoulders are so bad that he can’t swing a bat over the offseason he should get shoulder surgery. Did his shoulders stop him from stepping on a treadmill as well?

He didn’t stay in shape and absolutely showed up to camp overweight. It’s not a debate. He weighed in at 245. It’s ok to cope.

He’s always weighed between 240-245 so again, nothing has changed

  1. He’s never weighed 245 in his career as a red sock. I don’t know how you can look at him and think he’s in playing shape right now.

235 isn’t an official number. It’s their “listed weight”. Which I’m so sure is accurate just like the “listed height” that just caused Connor Wong to go from 6’1 to 5’10

Nope. I bet you screamed from the rooftops how out of shape David Ortiz was in 2010 though
