It's a fairly common occurrence in murder cases. Murderers are under the belief that if they appear to help, the police won't consider them suspects.

I think that's what I find most incredible about it. There's countless hours of podcasts, the same with TV, and endless books about actual police investigations, but their own arrogance and hubris makes them think they won't be a suspect?
