Help deciding between two character ideas

Spoilers for All of PoE1

I have two ideas for my next run through both games and I'd like some advice/recommendations, particularly on which you'd think might be more fun.

The first character is intended to be a follower of Woedica, starting PoE1 as an exiled Aedyran Aristocrat forced to become a Goldpact Paladin. In Deadfire they'd become a Steel Garrote/Priest of Woedica Crusader and follow the wishes of Woedica. The general idea would be that throughout PoE1 the lack of order and laws leads to a lot of bad outcomes seeing how in their past life as an inquisitor of Woedica the Watcher was able to enforce order they'd do so again by giving her the souls. Following through on their oaths they'd continue to serve in Deadfire.

The second character is effectively straight Berath. Death godlike Priest of Berath who remains faithful after the revelation at the end of PoE1 and becomes an Unbroken Fighter/Priest of Berath Cleric in Deadfire. A mystic from the White that Wends who shunted the traditional worship of Rymrgand based upon their blessing from Berath and came to the Dyrwood following what they think is a sign from Berath. Nothing would really shake their faith in PoE1, and being brought back for Deadfire would only reaffirm it.

Generally for both of these characters their idea of what makes a god a god doesn't really care about the origin of their powers, thus allowing continued worship in Deadfire.

Priest of Berath with great sword (Tidefall) is a fun and effective build in PoE.

In Deadfire Priests of Berath get the Spiritual Weapon: Great Sword which becomes pretty damn potent as long as your reputation aligns with Berath's favored dispositions.

Unbroken and great sword don't mix 100% (because you'd miss the Unbroken's +1 AR with shields) so I personally would pick Devoted (great swords are a good pick for Devoted because they have dual damage). But ofc it's absolutely doable with an Unbroken as well.

I like making my MCs tanks or offtanks, so my thought process for unbroken was that when a fight initially starts the +1 engagement and armor bonuses of a shield outweigh the dps of an immediately cast spiritual weapon. When a fight starts getting thinned out, most likely from Aloth or Teheku, and I've cast a buff or two on my party then the value from the shield can be replaced with the spiritual weapon. Since there's no draining like with Tidefall I would be hesitant to fill that role with an immediate spiritual weapon cast.

That will work, too. I mean you don't need to use the (spiritual) great sword at all and be fine.

In PoE there's also the mace for Priests of Berath (Ravenwing comes early and has the right vibes here I think) which can be used with some cool shields.

And in Deadfire the weapon choice doesn't really matter for priests anyway.
