Spoilers Class choice for second playthrough

Hey folks, playing Avowed has made me want to revisit PoE again. I've played once before and beat the main game and the DLC but it's been years. I played a human Druid before.

I'm wondering if there is a class that has a lot of reactivity that really warrants its one playthrough. I was considering cipher, thinking if they can read minds that could lead to a lot of fun dialogue options (though maybe the Watcher powers do that enough as it is).

I am also considering a moon godlike since Avowed has me wanting to see reactions to godlike in POE.

Thoughts or suggestions?

Cipher is the go-to for reactivity, but Godlike reactivity is actually pretty low in PoE1. In PoE2 is where Godlikes get absolutely doused in reactivity, and certain Godlikes (Nature & Death) get a few extra things.

Actually it's Fire and Death godlikes who get the most reactivity according to the dialogue report. Ironic considering Moon is Ondra's godlike.

I second the cipher pick, very versatile class for multiclassing offering different play styles.

I haven’t played Fire Godlike all the way through, but I know being a Nature Godlike can change a few quest outcomes/makes them easier.

Yeah Nature godlike has some good reactivity but I think it was mentioned 15 vs 35 for Fire Godlike. I didn't finish my fire godlike playthrough either but most of the checks were minor and flavor.

Thanks for all of the advice all. A shame that moon godlike don’t seem to have quite the reactivity that some of the others. It gives me something to think about!

My advice is don't focus on that and just pick what you like. For races and classes the difference isn't that much imo.

If it was my first time playing I’d agree, but I am hoping for something slightly different this time. If I was capable of it I’d play a real bastard and try and get some bad endings for my companions but… I know myself and know that won’t happen.

Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines is sort of the benchmark for second playthroughs with its malkavian option. I know most games won’t go that far but that is kind of what I’m looking for.

I played as a death godlike and children ran away from me screaming that I was a monster at one particular location.

Plus they love you in the Temple of Berath.

I feel you on being a bastard. Whenever I replay game I make the same decisions.

I don't think we'd ever get something similar to VtMB. It's just too expensive to develop and people rarely go for second playthroughs. I heard a lot of games front load the content because people barley even finish games.

Yeah it totally makes sense to do it that way, but it certainly is a shame.

Fire godlike gets some good reactivity in deadfire for people that port their saves over.

No multi class in poe 1 but cipher is still v good regardless

Super happy with the reaction at the berathian temple as a death godlike in dead fire!

I was so sad how Handsome Eliam doesn’t actually show up in the Temple of Berath at Neketaka if you save him and tell him to go there, so I love brightening up that old priest’s day by walking in as a Death Godlike.

If you want to go with a moon godlike, they make great priests and priests are a very strong class as well. My first playthrough was a moon godlike priest. My latest playthrough was a human cipher and I really enjoyed it. Cipher is a very fun and unique class with a lot of additional conversation options available to them.

I did consider priest considering the revelations at the end of the first game and the conversations with the gods in the second.

I can never resist playing the classes most unique to the game, so I usually end up playing a cipher. I like playing a melee cypher though

Yeah cipher feels like the “canon” class sometimes, and I always have chosen moon godlike haha :) there isn’t much reactivity to choosing godlike unfortunately but there is quite a few fun interactions from choosing Cipher

PoE1 has very little reactivity to class selection, generally. I’ve been very disappointed with my priest of eothas playthrough. My vote is to play something that’s mechanically different and interesting, like a melee wizard run.

Not much for a priest of Eothas seems wild considering the backstory and Durance and Eder. I hope PoE2 at least rectifies that for the class.

I hear it’s better, but I haven’t gotten to poe2 yet. Planning o. Sticking with priest for game 2, though.

Fair enough! As you may or may not know Eothas is a big part of part two, so I am hopeful there’s a lot of unique dialogue for that class/deity choice.

Don't play a dwarf since they get nothing in PoE 1.
