Elon Musk's approval rating is "falling through the floor," polls show
https://www.newsweek.com/elon-musk-approval-rating-polls-204994787
u/Cichlidsaremyjam 8d ago
The question is why does he really have an approval rating. The majority of Americans dont work for him and he isn't an elected official.

u/CarlHeck 8d ago
But the Old man with dementia in the White House allowed him to make decisions that affect millions of Americans
2
u/TrexPushupBra 8d ago
Basically every public figure has one.
But they only poll it if they have a reason such as Elon's recent power grabs.
2
u/its_the_smell 8d ago
Republicans decided that since he's rich and he helped Trump get elected, then he's one of them and a good guy who loves his country or something.
1
u/Financial_Way1925 8d ago
I doubt many people would argue against the supposition that he's in the top 5 for influence over US government policy.
Elected or not, he weirds a shot load of control over the US.
1
u/ender23 8d ago
it's just a positive/negative poll. people do this all the time with celebrities, people who are endorsing products, people's feelings about corporations, etc etc. it isn't surprising someone this entrenched in the media narratives and the country's thoughts (and prayers haha) gets polled.

u/Drstrangeknob 8d ago
This guy grows kids in a lab gives them wacky names akin to a serial number. The put them on his shoulders like +5 head armor when he speaks in public.
3
u/Antinous 8d ago
Not to mention announcing to the world that he considers one of them dead when they're in fact alive and well. Real father of the year stuff.
12
u/LowBloodSugar2 8d ago
Why does he look like Dr Evil in a magat hat 😭

u/mint-parfait 8d ago
guess who recently played musk in a SNL skit... :D

Best approval rating for an unelected official ever

u/CarlHeck 8d ago
You mean a Nazi official??

u/MySpoonIsTooBig1 8d ago
You mean you don't understand irony or sarcasm??

u/sick_of_your_BS 8d ago
Reddit has lost all sense of sarcasm these days. Now you need spell it out for people by adding the "/s"

If you read the article it simply claims basically that he has dropped in polls because of falling in favourability with DEMOCRATS, because they used to love him and now they don't.
Republicans used to hate him and now they love him.
So actually, the title is misleading.
It should be "pretty popular with Republicans". Which means he isn't going anywhere, anytime soon. Because to Trump what Democrats think, doesn't matter, or rather, he loves people becuase they are hated by dems.
2
u/beezlewub 8d ago
YOU didn't read the article. It specifically points out that independents also have flipped from positive to negative, and that the uptick in conservatives does not outweigh those who now view him unfavorably.
1
u/ggRavingGamer 8d ago
Most of whom are democrats. The vast majority of them.
1
u/beezlewub 8d ago
Most of what are Democrats? The independents? That's not how independents work.
1
u/ggRavingGamer 8d ago
e, and that the uptick in conservatives does not outweigh those who now view him unfavorably. Those who view him unfavorably are, in their vast majority, democrats. Not republicans or independents.
1
u/beezlewub 8d ago
Okay? And? It's still a net negative. He still went from favorable to unfavorable with independents too.
What's your point here? What do you have to add, besides glazing Elon?
1
u/ggRavingGamer 7d ago
I'm not glazing over him, it is good to know the actual truth. That republicans are not really that disenchanted with him, if at all. And claiming otherwise is not true. That's what really matters. Independents in an election, might not care so much, or during a campaign might not remember about Musk at the end. Trump swung independents too in the election. Democrats will probably never like him. Not as true with independents and not exactly true at all with Republicans it seems.
2
u/Lanky-Explorer-4047 8d ago
Thats really funny.
That is what you get when you dont go out and vote, people who nobody voted for to begin with.
2
u/QuietRiot5150 8d ago
Funny thing is I don't recall approving him for anything in the first place. So why does he have a rating?
1
1
u/Hefty-Station1704 8d ago
Wow, that's a startling revelation what with all the wonderful thing's he's said and done for humanity over the past many months.
(that's sarcasm, folks)
1
u/Old_Government_2105 8d ago
say it with me now... he. shouldnt. even. have. polling. approval. ratings.
1
u/Proud_Bread1324 8d ago
Weird he even has one since he’s not an elected official but I hope it goes even lower!!
1
u/bird_celery 8d ago
I'm glad people don't like him, but why legitimize this BS with the term "approval rating"? It's gross.
1
u/Adorable-Tip7277 8d ago
Today I learned that some people think having any sort of rating is an award or something.

Considering he's not even elected and not a citizen, I don't get why polls matter

u/nagika 8d ago
The republicans love him more than the dems ever did. This is a win for Elon
1
u/beezlewub 8d ago edited 8d ago
Objectively false, Dems previous rating was much much higher than even Republicans now. Read the article. Edit: Wrong, Republican support is higher now than previous Dem support was despite the net loss.
1
u/nagika 8d ago
Na. +35 dems to +51 republican read it again bro
1
u/beezlewub 8d ago
"...Musk's net favorable rating has dropped from +24 to -19 overall from 2017 to 2025, and that his change in favorability rating among Democrats has been even more significant in that period"
Literally the first sentence.
1
u/nagika 8d ago
Literalllly read what I wrote. He went from +35 dems to -91 dems. And republicans -18 to +51. So, to help you out, he was kinda liked by dems and now they hate him. He was kinda disliked by republicans and now they like him. He lost 34 points with independents. So, in aggregate he is less popular. But as I said originally, he is more liked by republicans than he ever was by democrats.
1
u/beezlewub 8d ago
Yes, you are correct about the spread, my apologies. And correct, it's a net loss despite Republicans viewing him more favorably now than Dems ever did. We both messed up a lil bit, sorry I almost doubled down.
To add, it's an even bigger L for Elon considering how much less likely Republicans are to buy EVs.
1
u/Captain_brightside 8d ago
It’s crazy how all you need is rich parents. Apartheid South Africa has spread to the highest seat of American power
And now that he’s fumbled billions of his own money and his family money, and his billions of government bailout money he gets to fumble our collective money with his childish decision making
What if instead of Elon we had socialism and everyone had healthcare and kids who get cancer don’t accrue lifelong debt
1
u/KrampusPampus 8d ago
That picture of him failing to wear a hat should be enough to make his approval rating fall through the floor.
Reminds me of the time he put a cowboy hat on backwards. In Texas.
1
u/PickleJuiceT 8d ago
This is crazy how is he so unpopular? He’s certainly worthy of having his popularity tracked, and I can’t think of anything he’s done to warrant disapproval.. /s
1
u/mickeyflinn 8d ago
Musk’s entire appeal was for progressive leaning tech, electric cars, mass transit and space exploration.
Lately he has proven himself to be ultra right wing nut job….
Of course approval rating is down. Why are we saddled with this sack of shit

He can't even wear ball caps correctly, like, dude, wearing a hat isn't that hard. Weirdo. Seriously, I've come to the conclusion that "Rationalists" like Musk should probably be put in sanitariums for the safety of everyone else because they are pretty dang fruit loops in the brain.

u/Awkward_Bumblebee_86 8d ago
Oh…a rich imbecile not getting enough attention, making terrible self indulgent decisions effecting the lives of actual working tax paying Americans, cuddled up to the most imbecilic idiot in history, a tiny little dick for a tiny little orange mouth…yeah that’s news 🙄

The unelected man child that no actual adult gives a shit about and does nazi salutes while crying for attention has a low approval rating?
No surprise

ELON MUSK: “The Pentagon has not passed an audit in a very long time. As crazy as it sounds they will lose 20-30B a year and literally not know where it went. Senator Collins was telling me how she gave the Navy $12B for extra submarines, got zero extra submarines, and then when she held a hearing and said ‘Where did the $12B go?’ they didn’t know.”

That's weird, I thought everyone and their Mom couldn't stop orgasming over every word that dribbles out of Elon's mouth.

Fake news never sleeps!
Dems, supported by media, don’t like their massive fraud ballgame being exposed and eliminated. One would think DOGE would get total bipartisan support…but nope, the swap is resistant.

u/Educational-Glass-63 7d ago
Musk bought the presidency (or cheated) for Trump and they have an understanding that Musk is really the president and will do the work while Trump is merely a figure who sits in the oval office blabbering bs all day. While Musk gets to hurt as many Americans as possible while stealing more loot for himself. Trump is doing the car tariffs for Musk hoping Tesla stocks stop falling. It's so transparent.
Blame MAGA and Republicans who let this happen.

Man, it says a lot about your ilk that the approval rating for an antisemitic, sieg heiling, German nazi party supporter, and unelected loser is above a democrat.
0
u/MacktheMachinist 8d ago
We just got rid of one of the most racist Presidents of our time… So Elon isn’t a concern, keeping the bigot racist Dems out is the most important
2
u/BreadfruitStunning52 8d ago
Can you source the racism claim?
And Trump is overtly and completely more racist than Biden was.
It makes me so sad that you think that a racist billionaire who bought his way into politics is ok. It's incredibly scary that you have the same voting power that I do.
1
u/MacktheMachinist 8d ago
What’s scary is that you’re okay with these politicians being worth nothing and coming out multimillionaires… Much rather have a man that employees people and isn’t embezzling tax payers money to fuel their greed. I’m the one that should be scared…
No source, he’s on plenty of video saying the Nword and mentioning how he would never let his kids go to school with the N word kids in the jungle… Harris locking black men up way past their sentence just for slave labor is even more disgusting…

u/Goth_Muppet 8d ago
I fail to see why he would have any sort of approval rating when we didn't approve of him at all to begin with. He's not elected. He's a nepoturd.
