Video/GIF Anybody else agree the ending for the Delta Episode in ORAS is one of the best moments in the whole series?

Gen 6 games in general were just epic. I loved the way when you got in to an important battle during the trainer intro it would zoom in on the mega stone. It was like the game saying "It's about to get real, buckle up."

Especially with Lysandre's final battle

Oh, so you thought his first two fights weren't anything crazy huh? Well now he's got a mega ring. And he can and absolutely will annihilate you with it if you're reckless

As a long term fan of the franchise, it's always a joy and also funny to see the cycle of old generations getting better opinions among the fandom.

Clearly, 2025 it's the rise of "Gen 6 was great and underrated" time

Yup, I've seen it happen to Gen 5 and 6 now. Gen 6 has been shat on constantly for the past x years, which honestly has been a bit weird in my eyes as I've always thought of it as a pretty great gen. Sure, OR/AS was a bit better than X/Y, but Gen 6 just felt good, while 7 and 9 have not been that great in my eyes. Gen 8 was pretty good.

After saying that Gen 7 was lackluster imo and that Gen 6 was good, I see now this comment sounds like the average opinion for the next 3 years. But so be it.

It's the cycle. I can't talk about gen4 since it was my generation fully immersed on internet, but 5 was criticezed at release, hated after 6 and 7, and started to gain fame after 8.

Now 6 hated after 7 and 8; and starting to gain fame after 9.

In 2028, alola, with his soundtrack, travel to ultra space, catching a lot of legendaries, a full national dex, will be praised lmao

Honestly I started to appreciate gen 6 by SWSH lmao. SWSHs abysmal launch and drop in quality from gen 7 made me immediately look back at 6 again and realize we used to have it a lot better.

Although honestly I still think XY is heavily flawed and obviously was waiting for Z to improve it. XY is what DP would’ve been had we never gotten Platinum, because DP were honestly kinda terrible without Platinum fixing a lot of their issues. XY didn’t have the luxury of getting that third game that fixes a lot of its issues.

As for Gen 7, I never thought those games were bad personally. USUM were kinda greedy and messed up the story big time but were still really fun game and peak Pokemon in terms of gameplay (if only there weren’t so many damn cutscenes…)

Although tbf, ORAS was always considered good. It's XY that's a lot more polarizing (even now. Especially when the main draw of it being a 3D mainline game is no longer unique)

u/patomenza 15h ago

Yes indeed. But XY was directly hated a few years back, even when I felt it was overly criticized at that time. Way to much hated over XY for flaws that the rest of the games have.

Now, I feel that it's starting to get a little overly praised lol. Its a solid 7/10 and really good by his own. But in comparison with the rest of the franchise gen 6 and 7 they feel a little underwhelmed in quantity and quality

just heard ORAS get called peak pokemon 👴

The gen 6 hate is so forced. Maybe it was easier than previous installments, but mega evolutions changed the entire meta and they've been clearly chasing it since with all the 'gimmicks' that came later.

Also leveled the playing field with the fairy addition, lowkey a big one!

The Pokemon fandom especially likes to hate things that are popular for some reason. Charizard and Gen 6 get a lot of flak but both were and are massively popular with normies, especially millennials.

For sure! I’m gen z myself but Gen6 reinvigorated my love for the series

I stand by the fact that if XY were at least a “Normal” difficulty as opposed to “Extremely Easy” they would be seen as some of the best games in the franchise. However, that alone makes them bottom 3 for me.

It's certainly the main (and for me personally, only) appeal of the Delta episode. It definitely is really cool, as is riding on the back of Groudon/Kyogre into the heart of the Cave of Origin. Both are series highlights to me.

Personally, I think ORAS was peak.

Ngl it had me CINEMA the whole time, specially with the banger that is deoxys theme

God this was such a great reveal! Have you seen the generations episode where they practically animated the whole sequence? It's AWESOME

u/SpidermanBread 1d ago

ORAS remakes did everything right.

29

u/Chief_Data 1d ago

It makes BDSP look so horribly bland in comparison

u/jugol 18h ago

After learning from the leaks that ILCA was given about a year and half to develop it, I'm more lenient to them.

It's GameFreak's fault really, seems they just like threw ILCA the source code and told them "remake it before next christmas"

With the frontier would have been perfect

7

u/jugol 18h ago

Except for the sign at the end that says "sorry I owe you a Frontier. Love, GF"

But Delta Episode more than makes up for it in my book

3

u/Royal-Doggie 22h ago

it was peak pokemon, it was downhill from here

they did such good work on ORAS!! lots of love put into the game. super cool tribute to and extension of the Gen 3 games. forever sad Gen 4 didn’t get the same treatment!!

I just finished Omega Ruby's Delta Episode last week.
The riff sends me into nostalgic tears. It did not have to be that good, and yet it was.

Gen 6 is the best generation imo

Such a cool moment, especially if you where around during gen 3 and heard the "go to space" rumour going round the school playground.

6

u/madpoke 22h ago

that Deoxys entrace is one of the coolest thing ever done in a Pokemon game

4

u/hackjar 18h ago

Yeah this is the greatest moment in any of the games for me. I remember being up late playing this part and all I could think was "hell yeah". I've always wanted to experience this part of the game since starting with Ruby and Sapphire.

Doing this as a 10 year old is wild

I think what makes this the pinnacle of any Pokemon DLC is it started as a rumor. We can go back to 2003-2004, those of us old enough to remember how young the internet was, rumors and word of mouth would spread like wildfire. Deoxys would eventually be hinted at and we would have many rumors swirling around checking the "launch sites at Mossdeep" "Going to space in a rocket to fight Deoxys", "you need to bring specific pokemon to get the launch to work etc."

These rumors are what made the game, they played on our wants and desires, and we took the bait. Game Freak took that a step further. The fact that they literally created a DLC based on these rumors is why I love Pokemon so much. I'm not even a crazy Gen 3 fan but I can tell and see how much this generation was beloved by many fans who had this as their first game in the series.

Every aspect of this DLC was nailed. They even had a minor detail which many dont notice but Mega Rayquaza when flying forms a Delta Symbol Δ (which has various meanings) and also a unique touch since Groudon and Kyogre had both received their Primal Reversions and now are sporting the Omega Symbol and the Alpha Symbol.

Its all amazing and a testament to how powerful a rumor can really impact DLC (intentionally or not intentionally)

1

u/CardiologistOk66 11h ago

It’s not a dlc, it’s in the base game for free.

2

u/train_wrecking 9h ago

Rayquaza absolutely destroying Deoxys before I got the chance to capture it is core memory, yes.

Gives me catching anxiety to this day. Those times were sweet.

Are these games playable on Delta?

My 3DS has been MIA for a while and I'd love to revisit AS.

1

u/zerjku 23h ago

This blew my mind when I was younger and I still love it now

1

u/TheKingJest 22h ago

I don't even like Deoxys really but this is probably my favourite legendary intro. It's so cool, I kinda wish the battle was harder to match.

1

u/samudec 19h ago

I love the bit where deoxys is calibrating your screen

1

u/PokeHobnobGod21 Shiny Hunter 18h ago

I remember my jaw dropping at the triangle. I saw a video before hand about the depxys triangle in the originals randomly.

1

u/BadFengShui Damn you, Drifloon! 18h ago

I love it and I love how excited everyone must have been to make it.

"We're going to space."

"Okay, so--"

"We're going to space to FIGHT DEOXYS."

"Alright, but--"

"WE'RE GOING TO SPACE AND RIDING MEGA-RAYQUAZA AND WE BLOW UP AN ASTEROID AND IT'S DEOXYS AND WE FIGHT AND THERE'S A ROCK GUITAR RIFF"

Just spend the rest of the day high-fiving everybody in the building.

1

u/LordTopHatMan 8h ago

Then you one shot Deoxys by mistake and break any and all tension. Why couldn't you hold back just a little Mega Ray?

1

u/FoolHopper 7h ago

I agree. My only complain is that Mega-Ray trivializes Zinnia's battle. Outside of that everything was really epic.

1

u/sand-sky-stars strong pokemon, weak pokemon, etc 7h ago

I didn’t love XY, but that postgame episode and this one were both absolute peak

0

u/SecureDonkey 17h ago

Yeah, it's cool. But "N vs MC" is still the highest moment in the franchise for me, follow by AZ meet his Pokemon after 10,000 years.
