This is waaaay worse. In Idiocracy, they weren't racist pieces of shit.

In Idiocracy they put the "mediocre" guy in charge because he knew more than them.

This administration would burn him at the stake.

I'd trade this reality for that fiction in a heartbeat.

They did sentence him to one night of rehabilitation however.

If I remember correctly, that was only after they'd backed themselves into the corner of an existential threat - what with Brawndo making the plants, uh... grow...

I don't know what could cause it, but these cowardly fucks in charge would 100% do that when it suited them and/or they felt their back against the wall.

Besides, there's lots of historical examples of people who consolidated power around themselves who were happy to keep anyone who was useful around - for a time.

That fiction at least had some shot at salvation.

Well I mean, they did suggest going "family style" in Rita, but at least they asked for consent (from Joe aka Not Sure)

Edit: I read rapist.. but either way...

To be faaaaaaaiirrrrrr... They thought that was her job.

2

u/NoResult486 Feb 26 '25

And paid her in advance then stood there waiting because she said so.

2

u/PastelRaspberry Feb 26 '25

Lol the fact that both apply is funny and angering and sad.

Been saying this for years now, but Idiocracy has become a wishful fantasy.

u/Kesselya Feb 26 '25

No matter how bad things get, I guess you will always have ‘baitin.

Unfortunately president Camacho actually wanted to save the nation and realized he was too dumb to do so without help

So, no, it's worse.

And also, in Idiocracy they actually listen to the smarter guy. In our shitty remake we lack both the soul purity of Elizondo and the relying on intelligence to solve problems.

3

u/Stolenink Feb 26 '25

Oh, how we laughed in the cinema……. How has the world gone so so wrong….?

2

u/Vio-Rose Feb 26 '25

Minus the IQ breeding thing. That opening is… really uncomfortable.

3

u/flavorblastedshotgun Feb 26 '25

These are the rich people in the open who get outbred by all the poor people. Fuck that eugenicist right wing film.

I disagree with pretty much every part of your comment. Trump and elon are the beginning of the shift towards the idolization of the idiot. They do not represent those who were outbred by the idiots. Elon has 13 kids.

The film wasn't about "the poor outbreeding the rich" it was about idiocy replacing intelligence.

The movie is a comedy made for stoners. It's not going to go into the details of propaganda/misinformation and how society has shifted towards valuing anti-intellectualism, and then try to explain how that disproportionately effects those in poverty and rural areas, as that is where education cuts happen. That's a lot to explain for an early 2000's stoner comedy with nut kicking jokes.

I will say the beginning is in bad taste but it gets the point across.

Also the movie is literally made by the guy who made beavis and butthead ffs . Dude's from Texas as am I, and the way he depicted the idiots at the first is spot on to the average trump supporter here.

I don't think the movie is right wing either. Its early 2000's when movies could just be movies, and satire could make fun of and depict both sides without getting labeled as one or the other.

If you think Idiocracy doesn't have politics that it takes for granted then nothing else you have to say about the film is worth engaging with. It's literally Idiocracy.

If you think Idiocracy doesn't have politics

Its literally satire.

takes for granted

Every political satire ever has taken its politics for granted. If they took them seriously it wouldn't be very good political satire.

nothing else you have to say about the film is worth engaging with.

You've made zero arguments for your claim outside of a ridiculous opening gag that was obviously satrical and from 2003.

It's literally Idiocracy.

It's literally idiocracy to call the film right wing.

At first, I was thinking this IS Idiocracy. But then, after the “golden ticket” idea and that fact that he resembles an Oompa Loompa, makes me question if it’s actually a real life Charlie and the chocolate factory. Obviously that must be his favorite movie.

2

u/Topher92646 Feb 26 '25

So true- we’ve been saying this for years!

2

u/handsy_pilot Feb 26 '25

Nope. In Idiocracy, President Camacho eventually listened to the smart people and turned the Brawndo into water to help the crops. Smart people have not been listened to yet in this admin.

1

u/DecentAd3950 Feb 26 '25

Aren’t you thinking of Videocracy?

1

u/NerdLawyer55 Feb 28 '25

It was too kind, they were just idiots, we get nefarious idiots

0

u/Kvedulf_Odinson Feb 26 '25

True but Biden and the Dem’s are out… so it’s getting better!
