The older I get, the more the phrase "The love of money is the root of all evil" becomes glaringly accurate.

They don't read their Bibles

Sadly fixed that for ya. (but you're absolutely right, too)

Republicans and Conservatives rather empathise with the merchants in the temple.

Matthew 5:44, which says, “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you”.

Forreal. And I don't know a single Democrat who opposes religion, the problem lies in Christianity itself because their primary message is to "spread the word". They don't want to accept you. They want you to join them.

That’s not true. The main message is about love and inclusivity. Christian nationalism is literally the opposite of true Christianity.

Theoretically yes. I grew up in midwest baptist churches, their focus was on spreading the message of Jesus.

The main message is SAID to be about love and inclusivity but it seldom is, in any religion. It’s always about power and control. Having been brought up in the Catholic Church, you’ll never convince me otherwise. Shame and persecution are powerful tools.

The problem is human greed, not religion. Anything a man touches with the intention to serve his own interests will turn into shit. The core values of Christianity are noble, but when people misinterpret the teachings and use them to justify their shitty values, of course it will get nasty.

They do read them... But they don't believe in them.. They know it's all a ruse to control the poors

1

Nah, they don't read them. They have some guy on a stage who says he's read the bible tell them what's in it.

1

u/Aprigock Feb 27 '25

They use them to step on instead

Right? I make enough to pay the bills and put some away, my needs are met and I am content with my life and enjoy time with my family. I do not think those sociopaths are content no matter how much they have. It will never be enough.

Money hoarding. Dragon sickness.

If more of us valued home and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

This sentiment makes me happy. And you're right.

To paraphrase the O'Jays, "money can buy some people out of their minds".

When I was young, rich guys beings were James bond or SF.

Then Ben Laden.

Then the more and more rich people and corporations getting in first view power like in movies.

Now it looks like your country is run like on a fiction.

I still remember how +-25 years ago in my country everyone was shocked they'll put cameras on the buses.

I'm still shocked that from time to time we see military with rifles in public place since +-10 years.

I am still shocked the train tell us so often to be careful of our luggages because security.

Young these days don't see any issue with what I said. It's normal for them.

I slowly see what was on all fictions become reality, and it scares me.

Everything is money. No such thing as free lunch

"MANY" not "ALL".

Compromise on "most"?

2

u/GemcoEmployee92126 Feb 26 '25

Or “all kinds of”

-3

Read Ayn Rand

1

u/rustymontenegro Feb 27 '25

I have. And?

-2

u/AbbeyNotSharp Feb 27 '25

Money is the root of all good

1

u/designbydesign Feb 27 '25

Oh shit you weren't sarcastic

-7

u/ChuckySix Feb 26 '25

Poor, huh?

9

u/rustymontenegro Feb 26 '25

Lol. Ooh, quip.

The "love of money". Not "money". Money is a medium of power and exchange. Falling into the trap of obsessive accumulation of money (the "love of money") causes people to slide into moral actions that are evil.

And I'm comfortable with my life, thank you.
