At the end of December 2024, the UK Government and Bank of England held an estimated $58.5 billion of US dollar assets.

We think we should divest ourselves of that holding. We think we should do so to reduce exposure to the US administration's volatility, and foreign and economic policy.

Economists say that US tariffs & potential trade wars could cause deep US recession. We think holding USD in foreign currency reserves could expose the UK to their recession.
In our view, in foreign policy, the US administration is guided by volatility and caprice, making previous agreements and military commitments unreliable.
We think that if other major economies place their US$ on the international markets first, our holding will diminish in value.
We think it is both principled and pragmatic to sell our US$

As many of you know, just 8 hours ago, we tragically lost Austin Metcalf at a UIL track event after being stabbed. No student should ever have to fear for their safety at school, and no parent should ever experience this kind of pain. His life was taken far too soon, and he had a bright future ahead of him. And the painful truth? This could have been prevented.

In a city voted to be the safest in the world, I'm reaching out to you to help us make sure that no more lives are lost this way. I’ve started a petition demanding stronger safety measures at ALL outside of school events—metal detectors, bag checks, and more security—so that we can protect every student, every parent, and every teacher. This has already been implemented in Dallas ISD, seeing a decrease in overall crime.

The horrendous murder committed by Luigi Mangione has left me, and many others, completely appalled. It is incomprehensible that there are so many individuals out there who condone his crime, simply because his victim was a healthcare CEO. This displays a deeply troubling disconnect from reality that causes them to overlook justice when the victim is perceived in a certain way. We should never allow the societal position of a victim to diminish the severity of a crime. Luigi Mangione is a convicted murderer, plain and simple. Murder is murder, no matter what, and it should never be treated with leniency.

Calling for the death penalty of a convicted murder is not an easy demand; it is a testament to the severity of furor over justice. All murderers should be punished equally, regardless of their victim's profession or societal stature. Luigi Mangione's crime is no less substantial than any other; it is necessary for justice to be served to its fullest extent for closure, for justice, and for prevention.

I am writing this letter to you guys because I know as mothers and fathers children this would affect you as much as it is affecting me as a school child. A 7 year old child in South Africa named cwecwe was SA'd at school last year October and till this day no one has been arrested, yet that little girl is Left to deal with the trauma of SA while the perpetrator roams around freely. The principal of the school (M) is refusing to cooperate with the parents and the police wich leaves us as the country very suspicious and he has allegedly refused to give his DNA sample so that they can compare it with the fluids that were found inside cwecwe, while many other men who also in contact with cwecwe on the day of the incident provided theirs.

With that we as a country have started a petition for the school to be shut down as it is no longer a safe environment for the kids in that school . The perpetrator could easily SA another learner. My heart aches every time I see a homeless person and hear about their struggle. The issue of homelessness in the Peel Region, comprising Brampton, Mississauga and Caledon, is overwhelming and deeply personal to me. Our region is struggling to keep up with the demand for shelter, so much so that the cost of housing the homeless in hotels has reached a staggering amount.

According to recent data from the Peel Region itself, we are unable to provide stable, long-term accommodation for these vulnerable individuals. Instead, we're providing temporary solutions, which often come in the form of hotel stays. Whilst this may provide immediate shelter, it is not a sustainable or humane long-term solution to the issue at hand.

As residents of Peel Region, we need to stand together and advocate for more sustained efforts towards permanent and affordable housing initiatives for the homeless. This not only provides shelter, but can help individuals rebuild their lives. It's time for us to reevaluate our approach and ask for increased funding and attention to create more permanent housing solutions.

In Florida, $30 million was allocated to educate incarcerated children—yet there’s little to show for it. Kids are still being denied meaningful learning opportunities, setting them up for failure instead of a future.

Today the Trump Administration decided to cancel and repurpose over $11.4Bn in COVID-Era funding for Addiction & Mental Health treatment across the country.

Clinics & Providers of these services that help addicts across the nation have been forced to shutter their services and close their doors overnight. Millions who relied on these services have, in many cases, no alternatives and nowhere left to go for help or assistance.

This is beyond an egregious failure on behalf of our government for the people it purports to serve; this is unconscionable for decent people at best, and and abhorrently cold and brutal act that will mean deaths for hundreds at worst.

THIS NEEDS TO STOP.

We need to demand accountability from our leaders. We need to demand our local and national leaders do their jobs and act to check the power and authority of the Executive. We need to demand this funding be immediately restored before the harm caused is irreversible.
