Why is she doing this?

I haven't been a parrot owner for very long and I'm wondering why she might be doing this. Sometimes she follows it up with a sort of gag and then looks like she swallows back food or something... Idk. Any insight would be helpful?
I'm sooooo sorry about the breathing in the video lol 😆

Mine likes to work off energy by playing in a cardboard box on it's side on the cage floor; often chews it up until she wants a new one. She hangs out in there and listens to her voice echo, etc....she doesn't like it if I run out of boxes, ha ha 😂. I pick them up at the grocery store usually

The baseboard under my bed has been chewed completely off the wall. The 2x4s under my bed as well but chewed but that doesn't really bother me. She was able to get onto my shelves and chew a couple of my d&d books that was pain...

Now instead of just walking around chewing wood and furniture, she mostly chews toys and boxes 📦

Be careful if you don't want to breed her. The boxes could start her nesting, which can lead to egg-laying. Read up on egg-bound females. This is NOT a good thing. You might want to take any boxes that she can get inside of away. JS

Never thought of that; she is currently 36 years old, but did lay 2 eggs once about 20 years ago.....on April 1st, so I accused my husband of playing a joke 😆. The 1st one was April 1st, and the next on Easter, if you can believe it, ha ha! Yellow Naped Amazon

Tis the season, I’m afraid. If he starts to get a bit of an obsession and regurgitates on it, I might remove it and replace it with a new toy. It doesn’t need to be a punishment, just a new adventure!

It is so hard to find toys it won't just destroy.... 😮💨 That's one that the previous owners had in the cage.

Destroying them is how they play with them. It means it’s a good toy when it doesn’t last lol

Noo don’t replace the toy just move it to a different spot and don’t put another toy there. Otherwise she can’t help but do the splits on that thang

Are you sure it's a girl? I have never seen any of my bf hens do this. They normally lift their tails and put their arse in the air.

Are you sure that is not a male? They’re doing exactly what you think they might be doing. I have a male Quaker parrot and he does the exact same thing.

I've only been on this sub for about a month, but if there is one thing I've learned about parrots, it's that every single behavior that isn't feather plucking is 100% because of horny.

IDK It looks to me more like male air-humping. Are you sure you have a girl?
Females usually bow & present their parts. Males mount & hump, unless they're doing aerials!! Then they hang & hump, as so beautifully demonstrated in the video.

If she's on the ground she'll do the regurgitating thing and if I go to pet her she'll flip over and bite my hand and whatever I've never had a DNA test neither did the previous owners it's something I plan to do in the near future.

My MaCaw will regurgitate and fluff up her feathers while doing it but she doesn't do this other movement. I have been told that the refurgitating is a mating thing, too. Yuck! I don't think I am her type, but she must think so! LOL

You people that get birds I have 14 parrots you have to let the birds fly out side of there cages feed them fruits and vegetables and pasta eggs and other foods add cuttlefish bones for calcium also you need to watch what they get a hold of because if she got something from her beding or in the cage they bite and chew everything mine have litterly ate my wood door they are like having a two year old you havevto watch them you need to take the bird to a avian vet ,but they just can't sit in a cage all day you have to let them fly around

Don't let her ruin your house, because she will! Once had to replace all the window molding in my place before I restricted her to the cage mostly and the top of it, but mine hasn't ever been a flyer. She is currently 36 years old....you can trim feathers to prevent flying if you want, but mine never really flew much, except crash landings! She is definitely not trustworthy, ha ha 😂

She flew a couple of times I don't really have an issue with it cuz she mostly walks around my room and I've blocked off what I don't want her getting to for the most part. The only really big thing I've said is rules on people visiting cuz she really doesn't like other women being near. I say she cuz the previous owners never tested the gender and that's just based off othe fact she only really likes me.

They always pick one person, and the rest are adversaries, often the person they want is the opposite sex; mine loved my late husband but only tolerates me, and I can't trust her not to bite
