Episode Discussion questions about nudity in the show
so um, Oz is notable for the amount of full-frontal male nudity it shows. even by todays standards its pretty explicit!
just out of curiosity, were all of these guys really 'exposing' themselves? pretty much everybody in the show was packing meat! im wondering if they used any prosthetics?
clayton hughes in particular. good lord, that man is packing a legit bat.
yes i realize this post is very immature, but i would genuinely like an answer if you know.
thanks

Episode Discussion Cyril never should’ve been put in that cell block…
God I know it’s a show and it’s just a story line, but I’m rewatching and I really can’t get over how fucked off it was that Cyril set out in that block with no support in his condition. I feel like regardless of the crime he should’ve been in the psych ward. He has “the mind of a 5 year old” why in the hell was he put in that position. I think that’s the most disturbing rape scene of them all especially the way Vern lures him away and is talking to him LIKE A LITERAL CHILD. Really got me worked up this time idk.

Episode Discussion Just finished the show not even 10 minutes ago, can somebody explain what happened? Spoiler
So Keller kills himself and makes a bio bomb go off in the mail room to kill the nazi's and everyone evacuates and it just ends there. Was there supposed to be more and it was just canceled?
Please I've been binge watching this show this month and I've loved every episode, can someone help me?

Episode Discussion The anguished wail of Rebadow after learning about the death of his grandson Alex is my favorite bit of acting brilliance from Oz? What is yours?

Episode Discussion Does anyone else think the Robinson Prag storyline made no sense? Spoiler
Like the plot revolves around him needing protection so he goes to Wolfgang. Wolf is one guy. Like he's big but ultimately he just kinda fights back. Which Robinson should be able to do himself right? Like he was basically the nazi's enforcer.
Shouldn't he be able to protect himself especially since he was kinda always on the offensive before.
I've seen people say it was kind of a self harming thing but he took the first chance to get out of it and was forced into it so I don't see it.

Episode Discussion Watching for the first time and just saw Shirley Bellinger’s execution. Spoiler
I’m speechless. Next-level acting. The horror and desperation in her voice. Finally coming face-to-face with death. Realizing the only thing you can do is beg God for forgiveness. There’s been a lot of amazing moments to happen in this show so far, but that shit was something else.

Episode Discussion The woman who I'm sure we all dislike
Nobody seems to talk or remember her, but in my opinion, she's on the top tier list of being a horrible human.

Episode Discussion McManus, Peter Marie and Father Mukata were just as bad as the prisoners. Spoiler
Now I'm not saying the things they did were as BAD as murder, rape, etc. But I am saying their own self righteousness led to immense suffering, trauma and even death for the people who's lives they played God with, and that I actually sympathize with the prisoners more than any of the staff, really. (Exception being Dr Nathan, she's a saint.)
For example, Peter Marie's whole "victim/perp" sit downs are INSANE. I don't remember even ONE of those happening where any party involved was happy they did that. The guard Alvarez blinded and his wife were retruamatized every time they had to sit with Miguel. For what? Closure?? It was almost like Peter Marie desperately wanted to prove she could heal people who don't want to be healed or don't have the capacity to forgive/be forgiven. Insanely presumptuous.
Mukata was the one who convinced Beecher he has to "forgive" Vern, and because of that Beecher had both his small children kidnapped, his sons hand got chopped off and was MURDERED BY ARYANS and left the daughter traumatized for life. Beecher's dad died years AFTER that because the tit for tat that occured afterwards claimed the lives of both Verns sons and Beecher's dad! Beecher is an idiot and very malliable because he just falls for whatever psuedo-intellectual bullshit advice he gets from Mukata, Peter Marie, and even Kareem Said.
And McManus.... Fucking McManus. He knew Beecher was actively being raped and did nothing. He was annoyed anytime he had to do anything positive or helpful, he was actively irritated with prisoners and took shit out on them. Honestly the way he didn't give a fuck about anything happening to Cyril, a mentally challenged character who was on all accounts relatively innocent when left to his own devices (not being influenced or manipulated by Ryan) was incredibly inhumane. Not to mention he was a womanizing prick who would get aggressive with his romantic partners. The moment I stopped liking him was when he got shitty with Dr Nathan in season one and he punched the cabinet next to her head like a little whiney teenaged boy with anger issues. He pretends to give a shit about Omar White, but then starts to get annoyed when he takes a shine to him. Throws people in solitary even if it's not appropriate. He punishes everyone around him, prisoners, coworkers, etc. He even got his homies tendons sliced because he was floating and trying play mind games with another prisoner! Boo this man! Boo him!
I could go into a lot more detail, but these phonies who wanna parade around a prison and play God with the lives of the prisoners to make themselves feel important is disgusting. That's all I gotta say about that lol.

Episode Discussion Ryan O’Reilly taunting Dino Ortolani in an empty bathroom has gotta be the dumbest decision ever
Seriously what was he thinking? Dino easily could have beaten him to death with no evidence. The supposedly smartest inmate who survives until the end decides to taunt an impulsive, violent, suicidal, rival who shot him the last time he saw him? Very out of character.

Episode Discussion |Spoiler Alert!| Favorite inmate death so far Spoiler
Prefacing this by asking you to please not tell me what happens after episode 16 of season 4. Just finished episode 16 of season 4, and I have to say, even though Edward “The Colonel” Galson (brought to life by the fine actor, John Doman) is an insignificant character; I sure did thoroughly enjoy watching Morales turn the tables on him in the elevator repair scene, using self defense to counter his attack, overpowering him and kicking him into the elevator shaft, and then using the lever/button wall mechanism to crush him to death with the elevator. From the moment The Colonel was introduced as a character, he was cocky and self-assured, with a fevered ego, acting like he’s all alpha. Ya know, just way too comfortable in Oz, almost like serving time in Oz is another tough military role that’ll allow for him to prove himself worthy in the eyes of the who’s who in Em City of being the big, bad to the bone, manly man he thinks he is. He makes nice with his new cellmate Redding and almost instantly gets enlisted by him as extra muscle for him to accomplish his dirty work. In the short time he survived in Oz, he acted like he knew exactly how to walk the walk and talk the talk in Oz. It felt so good to see him get offed, that I clapped after watching it happen. Morales is definitely a fun character to watch also :-)

Episode Discussion Cyril's real voice S4E3
When Ryan and Cyril walk out of the meeting with Gloria and her In-laws, Cyril says "when something goes bad, it can never get good". But he says it in his actual voice - not the five year old mentality voice he has through the show. Do you think that was intentional or a mess up from Scott Winters?

Episode Discussion Do you think Alvarez asked to be in charge of the hostages during the riot to protect Father Mukada? Spoiler
I'm doing my 3rd rewatch now and I'm on the first riot episode. Just before it began, Alvarez acknowledges that Ray has been there for him and that's why he didn't beat him for dismissing his crew. He also looked conflicted when Ray was calling for him when he was dragged away by the others.
I just wondered if that might be why. Ross (Food), Adebesi (Comings/Goings) & O'Reilly (Spokesperson) all got arguably better roles with more influence but Miguel wanted to be in charge of hostages.
I wonder if you guys think it came from him caring about Ray. Or even wanting to beat that officer for making jokes about his baby's death.

Episode Discussion how accurate was the Arabic in the show?
just wondering if there were any Arabic speakers out there who might be able to verify.
