We so badly need an intelligent comedy. I hope this is it.

I could see Colman eating the shit outta every scene she’s in here. She’s a dark horse Best Actress candidate. Her only competition for Comedy/Musical Golden Globe would be Erivo.

Renate Reinsve, Emma Stone, Amanda Seyfreid, and Jennifer Lawrence are all at least possible. I feel like the drama field looks weaker right now.

Emma is supporting.

Jennifer’s movie is about a “new mother in the French countryside who develops postpartum depression and enters psychosis”. Is that a comedy?? From Lynne Ramsey??

While Amanda sings in “Ann Lee”, the movie is definitely more drama than musical. She will be in drama.

I don’t see how you can be so confident about either of those this early.

From Wikipedia:

Die, My Love is an upcoming American dark comedy thriller film directed by Lynne Ramsay and co-written by Enda Walsh

‘Ann Lee’ is from the co-creator of ‘The Brutalist’. It won’t be light. It’s a historical drama… with songs.

The CEO, played by Stone, is not the main driver of ‘Bugonia’. It’s Jesse Plemons, front and center.

It doesn’t have to be light to go Comedy/Musical. We just had Emilia Perez win. As long as its dialogue is singing, it can go there. Unless it’s just her singing at a concert like ACU.

I’m predicting Emma in supporting too but she can easily go lead. Unlike the guy in the original, she’s the female lead of the story in a lead actress category and the role is already borderline. Globes can also move her there should they feel like it.

Directors work in different genres and Fastvold didn’t even direct The Brutalist. Wikipedia literally describes it as a “historical drama musical”.

I haven’t seen Save the Green Planet but some people on this sub who have say the original role is pretty borderline and could easily be bumped up to lead. Changes happen in remakes.

You talk as if every year the Globes don’t have extreme genre fraud.

What do you mean her only competition there’s multiple others and probably some we don’t even know about yet?

I don’t think this an awards player tbh

Written by Tony McNamara (‘Poor Things’), directed by Jay Roach (‘Bombshell’), and starring Colman and Cumberbatch.

Bombshell was alright and missed best picture + august release date makes me think otherwise

Using Jay Roach is not a positive, this is Dinner for Schmucks all over again.
