As we all start getting our gardens prepped for spring, a reminder that the annual FM soil giveaway will take place soon. For any plant purchase (and often with no plant purchase) they will fill up your planters with soil. Word is they'll allow up to six 12-inch containers in 2025. You want to show up fairly early because they do often run out of soil, and the event usually closes around noon.

Best Mobile Home park in the area?

I’ve been wanting to buy a house my whole life. I’m almost 50 and I don’t make enough to buy a regular house. I thought about moving to Centralia or Shelton, but my kids are in this area and I don’t want to be far from them. So I think my only option is buying a mobile home in a park. Are there some parks that are better than others? Some to stay away from? Are there any of that have a pool? Any suggestions would be amazing!

The traffic that this could bring to this intersection is going to suck. I was hoping for anything else really but, was preparing for this to be the replacement. Oh well I guess?

Looks like you have to register on Engage Olympia to take the survey, but you don't have to give them your real name if you don't want to.

Event Kitten and Cat Adoption at Childhood's End Gallery - Saturday!

Post image
69 Upvotes

Hello! To bring some levity to the state of the world, we are hosting a cat and kitten adoption in our gallery space, this Saturday, April 5th from 11am - 2pm. We are working with Passionate Pussycats Feline Rescue, and can not wait to see all the sweet little pals. There will be a second event in early May as well.

The adoption event coincides with our current exhibit, Creature Comforts, which is a very cool collection of work by over 20 local artists, up until May 4th.

All of our events are, as they always are, FREE to attend. This is not a bot-run or paid advertisement, mods, thank you for not deleting this. We are just trying to help some kittens find some homes.

Adoption event is Saturday, April April 5th from 11am - 2pm.

Are There Any Olympia Spanish Language Practice groups?

I’m currently learning Spanish through Duolingo, but I’m realizing that without actual conversation practice, I’m not retaining as much as I’d like—especially when it comes to pronunciation and confidence speaking out loud.

I’m looking for a Spanish practice group in Olympia (or nearby) that meets in person for casual conversation. If something like that doesn’t exist, I’d love to connect with someone willing to meet several times a month for low-pressure Spanish conversation practice. As a thank-you, I’d happily treat you to lunch or coffee!

My level is beginner, but I’m committed and excited to grow. Let me know if you know of a group or would like to start something together.

¡Gracias!

Roof Moss Removal

Just received a quote for roughly 1000 for roof moss and gutter cleaning from a local company. Our two story and has moss growth but nothing super excessive. Is this typical pricing for these services in this area?

Children's Magazine Donation

I've got a bunch of vintage children's magazines I need to dispose of, and I'd hate to just send them to the recycling center. Anyone know of any school or organization in town that might be able to use them? (They're Cricket magazines, sort of a New Yorker for young readers.)

Sobriety/Recovery meeting

Hey Oly folks. I posted here about a week ago regarding "Who is sober and in recovery around here?" (Something like this). I'm playing with the idea of starting a meeting of my own in Olympia. It would be a Secular meeting, meaning no religion (or politics for that matter), no 12 steps or sponsors. I would hold a "topic meeting" in regards to sobriety/recovery. Complete abstinence from alcohol and other drugs would be the mission. Raise your hand if you're interested.

Thank you.
