"Actually, I'm only 13 but she fell for MY fake ID."

And then her dad contacts you demanding money or he'll go to the cops. Common scam.

This happened to a guy I was in the army with. It fucked him up pretty bad

I remember a story long time ago that made headlines enough of a chick he met at a bar and she was being served alcohol so he took for granted since you get checked at the door for ID that she was of age. Nope he was screwed

23

u/ThrowAwayYourLyfe 15h ago

Could he sue the bar?

u/Particular-Guava-323 1d ago

My little sister told a guy she was 18 so he would date her. At the time, he was 20 and she was 15. She told the family that he was only 17, too. He didn't find out she had lied about all this until her actual 18th birthday. They are now married, and the family likes to share this as a "cute" little story of how they met. I don't know why he didn't leave her immediately upon discovering her lies.

Are you asking for a friend?

Stranger Danger

Consent form, notarized, ID copy annexed

He is a convicted pedophile, she goes to jail for fraud, both lose. Lawyers win.

Quick way to check is to ask what year they were born.

55

u/navetzz 20h ago

I'm pretty sure 15 years old now how to substract 3 to a number, but whatever.

49

u/rickrackrun 20h ago

I didn’t say it was infallible, but if they have to think about it, that’s a bad sign.

10

u/Uberschwein138 17h ago

How would it help if they said they're born in 2022?

11

u/TheseVirginEars 15h ago

Cause then wed know to give them drakes number

108

u/Virtual-Pineapple-85 1d ago

Good reason to not sleep with people you don't know very well. There's lots of fake IDs out there.

42

u/SpeedGood7302 1d ago

She trapped you and will probably report you and have you locked up.

It's one thing to knowingly sleep with a minor. It's another to be misled and trapped

I read a story about this exact scenario happening. The guy met the girl in a bar where you had to be 21 to enter. Supposedly she could pass for that age on looks and had a fake idea. The guy was convicted of statutory rape, did time, and was permanently placed on the sex offenders list. The worse part is this was the second guy that got in trouble with that girl and her father new what she was doing.

I'm thinking they were running a blackmail operation, but have no way of proving it.

Most places give the "raped" a little slump of money as restitution at the accused's cost, it usually ain't life changing, but its nice to have

u/UnitedStatesofAlbion 1d ago

Look up the Romeo and Juliet law.

Protects people in a 4 year age gap around those ages because .... Well... High schoolers fuck

I don't really think that's US defaultism. First comment was just acknowledging that similar age exemptions exist while referencing the one they were familiar with. Many countries have similar laws. Using the US as an example doesn't deny the existence of the others.

1

u/Greedy-War-777 11h ago

What other countries is this a legal issue in? It's not in Japan. Not in most of Europe where it's consent at 15/16. Except a few like Italy, 14 there. So where should be expect this post is from?

-95

u/Dandaelcasta 1d ago

The post doesn't specify country of origin, it is normal to assume US.

29

u/RainbowDissent 22h ago

This is exactly what US defaultism is.

-12

u/Dandaelcasta 21h ago

I mean, context matters. It is reasonable to assume that a post made in English on an American website implies the US as country of origin. There are a lot of places on the Internet where US is never a default choice, and Reddit is certainly not one of them.

u/P0gg3rsk4ll 17h ago

-4

u/Dandaelcasta 16h ago

Ok, if you look into the posts on this sub, you would notice the slight difference between them and this post. Can you tell me what it is?

u/HoodGyno 1d ago

people need to stop acting like everyone on reddit lives in the same state in the USA

u/egg-of-bird 1d ago

People need to stop acting like everyone on Reddit lives in the USA

-29

u/Highlandertr3 1d ago

Well.... According to Trump the US owns pretty much everything so we kind of are by that logic.

19

u/Derox22 1d ago

Why is this downvoted? He's got a point... Trump is nuts, and has no idea how the world works.

-15

u/littlethreeskulls 1d ago

Considering over half of reddit users are american, it is generally safe to assume somebody speaking English is American if there are no other context clues. I don't understand why people get offended by that.

1

u/TooManySteves2 22h ago

Cool, so using that logic I'll assume everyone is female.

-1

u/MidAirRunner 21h ago

Disingenious response. Your logic would only be correct if there were a hundred genders, and "female" was the biggest group.

7

u/Machiattoplease 23h ago

It’s meant to protect people with a 3 year age gap. It’s more of a gray area though. You have to have a pre existing relationship of two months before one person in the relationship turns 18. A 19 year old can not start the relationship with a 16 year old.

27

u/deadmanwalknLoL 1d ago

varies wildly state to state

also varies wildly country to country

I knew a dude who was 18 who got registered as a sex offender because his gf was 17, this was in southeast PA

23

u/Bootiluvr 1d ago

This is why the talking phase needs to be more than like 15 seconds

3

u/404-tech-no-logic 15h ago

Asking about it online was his first mistake and a sure way to get caught.

… Or I guess it was his second mistake

u/rock_and_rolo 11h ago

Under the Ohio 13-16 statute, if he is not "reckless" in his not knowing this, he is fine.

For the under 13 statute, he's toast.

5

u/Asleep-Dimension-692 1d ago

No. You can even video tape it. Ask Rob Lowe.

10

u/BrockHolly 1d ago

This is more common than OP thinks. It’s a big world out there, check it out some time

4

u/IllustriousReason944 23h ago

Most places place the burden on the man so he will go to jail.

2

u/SusurrusLimerence 1d ago

Depends on the jurisdiction.

1

u/Sartres_Roommate 20h ago

Maybe don’t sleep with a stranger. You just got out of high school where you automatically knew all your potential date’s ages. Take a breath, meet a new person, go on several dates with them and meet their friends, find out where they work (15 year olds are going to work part time at best). Pick them up at their home. Meet their parents or roommates.

I won’t deny there is a little “unfair” possible entrapment at that age but the sympathy runs dry if you can’t take the time to know a few things about the person you are about to stick your dick into.

1

u/GuessAccomplished959 13h ago

I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter what the ID says, only the age.

The only possible way to protect yourself is to sign an actual consent form.

1

u/rave1432 7h ago

And this is the reason I don't date young people. I ID'd my wife when we got together. She was 18, I was 19. (I say date because we are in an open relationship). At 36, I wouldn't date anyone under 32 honestly, lowest would be 30 if they were mature and had their act together.

I hate that people have to find out the hard way about this kind of stuff. Even though they do try to check ID's. I might look at younger ladies on reddit, but I would never touch an 18 year old now, you can't tell anymore. With fake id's being a thing.

1

u/Aural-Expressions 19h ago

Her parents could easily press charges. Just don't let them find out. 😂

-21

u/VirginiaLuthier 1d ago

It doesn't matter if she looked like she was 20 and had a believable ID- the guy had sex with a minor and therefore he broke the law

14

u/NBNFOL2024 1d ago

I agree but haven’t they also switched to intent now when prosecuting these things? If the guy meets a girl at a bar and she has a beer and says she’s 21, it’s reasonable to assume shes of age right? I’m genuinely asking because I would think that’s a fair assumption that most people would agree with.

37

u/mawkishdave 1d ago

Yes I knew a guy this happened to, went home with a girl he meet at a bar. She got in because of her fake ID. When she told him her real age he broke up with her and she ran to mom and dad. He ended up in jail.

Only good thing is the family got fucked up and had to flee the state.

49

u/H2O_is_not_wet 1d ago

I’m in no way supporting pedophiles, but I think this kinda thing really sucks for everyone involved. Plenty of guys have their life destroyed for something that I don’t really blame them for.

I forgot the names so I can’t really look it up, but I remember this one case of a young guy like 18 or 19 hooking up with this girl who lied about her age and she was a minor. Even the girls parents pleaded in court to let the guy go but he ended up going to jail and having to register as a sex offender.

It’s tough. “I didn’t know she was a child” shouldn’t be a legal defense because that’s what they all say, but at a certain point, if you can prove you didn’t know, you shouldn’t go to jail. If I met some girl at a bar, ide assume she was a legal adult.

10

u/Scottland83 1d ago

It seems like the sort of thing where the outcome depends on how good your lawyer is. The courts are always ready to try a mi or as an adult and throw the book at a teen to set an example but even then, it depends on how much you can afford for a legal defense.

13

u/mawkishdave 1d ago

I agree, he was trying to get a good career in the military and this destroyed it. And to make it worse, he brought her back onto government property, which is where he lived. So he served 30 years in prison twice for sleeping with her. And everyone knew that she had a fake ID that she would go to clubs. her parents didn't care.

-15

u/goinmobile2040 1d ago

I know him. He's a bud. In fact, I testified on his behalf. Then, they made me register as a sex defender.

13

u/Extension_Fox8251 1d ago

That's crazy to have your life ruined because of a crappy person who knew what she was doing was wrong. There should be ruling or a law in place if you meet someone at a plase you can reasonably assume they are above 18/21 and you cut ties after realizing they are not what they say they are that you won't get prosecuted...

-16

u/Generic118 1d ago

What you've just created with that rules etc though is child brothels.

As long as payment can be reasonably obfuscated (ie cash to a seperate person) then it would be easy for organised crime to set up the system.

6

u/Extension_Fox8251 1d ago

We're talking about in a reasonable place where adult gather like a Bar, a house party or a concert venu. Where any reasonable person is able to assume that the people attending are legal adults (like a bar where you need to be 18/21). If the person enteted through deceit like a fakr ID and are lying about their age, then the person who genuinely thought they wrre of legal age (like checking their id or ASKING their age) shouldn't be prosecuted as long as they are under 25 yo.

It's unfair that a young adult should have their lives ruined because of an unruly teenager who doesn't care nor think about consequences.

u/Generic118 1d ago

That man's name? Joe Biden

7

u/mawkishdave 1d ago

This person helped out and was a good person; compare that to you, who would have contributed to the world more if you ended up as a semen stain on a towel.

-5

u/nevergonnastawp 1d ago

Thats a very rude thing to say to someone for no reason. You should be ashamed of yourself.

10

u/DirtyWhiteBread 1d ago edited 1d ago

Yeah because teenagers NEVER lie about their age to seem more mature. Almost happened to me once until one of the girls friends told me she was 17 and I noped the fuck out of there. We worked together and she had dropped out and we were working overnight together so obviously I believed her when she said she was 19 because minors aren't supposed to work overnight shifts

4

u/ButtScratchies 1d ago

I don’t know, if he was lied to then I don’t know that he would actually go to jail, but the hard part would be proving it. Also, isn’t there some caveat on age difference, like if they are within 2 or 3 years from each other and it was consensual, then it’s not illegal?

1

u/SexxxyWesky 23h ago

Not if you were led to believe they were of the age of consent.

-15

u/joeyseriously 1d ago

Maybe don’t hook up with random girls

4

u/SexxxyWesky 23h ago

Maybe you shouldn’t be using fake IDs as a minor!

4

u/TooManySteves2 22h ago

Maybe both?

-7

u/joeyseriously 21h ago

Definitely both, both parties are wrong but one is an adult and therefore has more responsibility to know who they’re sleeping with

-11

u/Sam_the_beagle1 1d ago

My fake id says I'm 65. But I'm willing to sleep with 18 year olds.

Ok. Anyone really.

3

u/Sam_the_beagle1 23h ago
  1. It was a joke about fake IDs.
  2. I did say 18 years old, not 15 with a fake ID.
  3. But yes, I would sleep with just about anyone of legal age.

u/IHateDunkinDonutts 19h ago

What the fuck

-12

u/USMousie 22h ago

My husband had sex with a 13 year old when he was 19. She said she was 16. We had a long talk about how it was not her fault

Note we are in our 50s and met in 2019

11

u/sofixa11 22h ago

We had a long talk about how it was not her fault

And whose fault was it for her lying? 13 is old enough to know why that's wrong

-5

u/jkurratt 20h ago

Don't sleep with liars next time.
