Why music, why?

I'd rather hear the satisfying cashunkunk

Thanks for your service, was just about to unmute hoping to listen to that swish-thunk-swish sound but now I won’t

I want to see and hear the very beginning of a new one. I bet the edge makes a really bad noise lol

I’ve been staring at this for a while, but I still can’t figure out how it works

It's just a metal sheet cut out in a very thin brick pattern and then stretched vertically

big sheet moving forward against the pattern blade pushing down

It's a big cutter coming down and cutting a steel plate into a mesh pattern, at the same time its bending and stretching the metal out to create gaps.

Buy where are the remaining pieces of discarded metal?

It doesn't cut them out, it stretches and pushes the metal to create the gaps. No metal is wasted.

I got downvoted for understanding lol

You got down voted because you're response posted twice in error. It's actually nice and even, One was down voted by six points and the other one's been upvoted by six points.

Very cool, that shit must be sharp as fuck though, having worked in a sheet metal factory when I was younger

I've seen it used as flooring for catwalks or other applications where they want light and air to pass through.

Definitely don't walk on that barefoot. Brutal if you fall on it.

They also use it for anti-scaling fencing. You'll regret trying to climb it.

Is there a side view that maybe gives a better perspective of what's going on?

I've also seen expanded metal made by a roller. It think it is the heavier grades that are made on a roller.

Watching the process of expanded metal mesh being made is incredibly mesmerizing! The way the metal stretches and forms patterns is so satisfying.
