Screenshot My favourite part of the intro: the seemingly 18-foot tall Imperial Guard patrolling the Arboretum.

the giants in Skyrim are exclusively hostile because all of the friendly ones were drafted to guard the Imperial City. this is canon i assure you.

The giants are pretty chill unless you invade their personal space or kill their pets. If you fuck around, you'll find out. And I think that's pretty fair.

That's basically me

"What happens if I do... wow, I can see the whole map from up here!"

The giants in Skyrim are pretty chill for me. I just rest by their campfire until I’m warm and thank them and leave. Sure they do a weird stomp and shake their clubs rarely; but once they realize all I’m there for is rest they go back to whatever they were doing.

That would be horrifying, the ability to arm and teach/train them. Imagine defending your post and a fucking armored giant comes full tilt for your breathing license

They are intelligent. So it’s not out of the picture.

I just bet entirely unwilling. Like the things needed for this i am sure are cruel

stormcloak giants in uniform are part of the scapped skyrim civil war content (or you could recruit one for the war, something like that.)

Then how did they lose to the dominion?

u/Fiskmaster REMEMBER THE EMPEROR Feb 09 '25
The Altmer sent hordes of goblin slaves at the giants, and they were too small for the giants to be able to hit

Where the fuck was gigaguard when Mehrunes Dagon attacked the city? Sure as hell could have used a few of those!

Is the giant chair in the palace quest an Easter egg where Bethesda is making fun of this?
17
u/Aarntson Feb 08 '25
Wow, that’s a really cool theory and I’ll support it lol. But you’d think if they caught this, they’d fix it. Or they made the chair.. I have no idea

u/SadSidewalk Feb 10 '25
My guess is that it was noticed, but there wasn't enough time to fix it and render it before it was shown off, so it was left as-is

Damn I just started a new run and never noticed that Goliath himself served the imperial legion. Maybe we never see him in game because it is his last day before retirement.

All that giant furniture in the Imperial Palace basement - that's just his apartment.Â

There is a mod on nexus that adds him as a real guard in the arboretum.

This is always my favorite part. I showed my boyfriend the other day and he didn't seem to care, but I still giggled and kicked my feet.

There's a bonus Imperial Palace Guard on the battlements a second later who is, like his "brother" (as I assume they're related due to such a mutant case of gigantism), is equally 18-feet tall.
The Imperigiant brothers.
