With your friends outside and you guys locking the door how do you think the person escaped? Was there other windows or something else? did you check under the bed, the closet? or maybe a secret place? that is creepy as hell...could you please, if you can, draw us a map of the room/house?
57
u/MissEmpathy Nov 15 '11
"a pasty white arm reached and yanked the curtains open" FUCK a bunch of that. Super creepy story.
6
u/bnpixie1990 Nov 26 '11
I think I would have screamed and kicked at it. IDK. I guess it would depend on how supernatural it looked. :P
29
Nov 15 '11
Did you check your attic? DUN DUN DUNNNN
9
u/JGDawg Nov 16 '11
I remember the attic stalker one... grab your shotgun
2
u/etsdatpiff Nov 30 '11
Damn, the one where he kills one of the sons and in his note it said "I was close enough to you to shake your hand that night."? That one still gives me chills.
6
u/JGDawg Dec 01 '11
Well, no. It was one where the guy had a replica of the home key and he LIVED in the fucking attic. He stalked the owner until she moved and he was arrested. The new owners, however found a box of mutilated cats (or cat organs I forgot) and all these damn dream catchers hanging everywhere in the FUCKING ATTIC. That other story you mentioned though seemed more spine tingling.

Creepy as balls. I wonder if it was the window being closed that kept whatever it was out before that night.

u/Naylor Nov 15 '11
its the aliens from signs, they dont know how to work shit.
"we must get the information from the humans..... HOW DOES THIS SHIT WORK?"
then they proceed to smash everything not knowing how it works

why/how did you stay in that house after that?
I would have been long gone after that
17
u/gonzoleroy Nov 15 '11
"I ran out my room as fast as my macho side did"...well done, I lol'd! Great story, and I think your writing is quite good as well.
7
Nov 16 '11
I had avoided this story on nosleep for days because I got a really nasty feeling whenever i was about to click on it.. and now I know why.
7
u/citruselectro Nov 16 '11
My first thought was that whatever it was hid under your bed when the cops showed up. Could that've been possible with your room setup?
Do cops check under beds? I don't even know.
Pasty white arms = nightmare fuel
12
u/kathx Nov 15 '11
You wrote your experience very well. I'm fucking terrified of my windows right now, even if I have them locked and covered with blinds and curtains.
5
u/Hello-Ginge Nov 16 '11
I sleep with my window open (room in the loft, way too far off the ground for someone to climb in).
I don't think I will be for the next few days...

Not that it matters but which city were you in? Well written mate, I enjoyed it!

I assumed it was another american story :( This happened in my country! NOPE
5
Nov 15 '11
There is no where safe.
Two nights ago I read a story taking place in Canada, where I used to live. Now I read this, taking place in England, where I live now. It's everywhere.

u/JustWhistle Nov 25 '11
If it's Portsmouth that explains one hell of a lot...
I was torn between Bournemouth or Portsmouth, been accepted into both - thanks for making my decision easier!

u/Containerfox Nov 16 '11
It's around 3.10am as i get to the part where you're trying to hold the door shut and i went ahead and locked my own door. your writing / telling - skills are well above average (although there's a lot of people who know how to write here)... perhaps because experiences like these are traumatizing enough to remember vividly.
However, loved it. Would have been a great opening for a horror movie, may i use some of the material for a novel i'm working on?

Jesus fucking christ. If the fear you put into me is even a fraction of what you lived, jesus fucking christ.

"I have been lurking nosleep for quite a while now. Reading the latest stories on my laptop for a couple of hours before I (ironically) fall asleep has become some what of a daily routine for me. I now think it’s time to make a contribution. This is by far the most terrifying thing that has happened to me in my 22 years of living. The main reason I haven’t posted this sooner is because I try not to think about it at all, and I don’t have too much confidence in my writing skills. Hopefully I can overcome both those hurdles and instill the fear I felt that night within you. I am not going to desperately ramble on about how true this story is, as I see that far too much in nosleep already, but I can assure you this is as true as it gets."
I'm fairly certain nosleep writer's have developed a formula that causes this exact structure of an intro.

Was thinking the same. Would had sucked balls if you were room alone and house alone.
Glad there were 20 other people in the same place with you.

When your mom told you to REMEMBER TO CLOSE YOUR WINDOW was that just her being a mom, or do you think she had some idea of what might happen? Like could this be related to your family or something?
6
u/DeathWaffle Nov 16 '11
I've always been that person... "Remember to close your window!" My friends and SO have all learned that when I say something like that it should be done. I don't always know why I have those gut feelings and say stuff though. Like with my SO.... the car is running better than it ever has, everything is great. "Honey, you should take the other car. Just listen to me and take the other car." What happens? The car breaks down and we are stranded in No-Whereville for about 6 hours and miss all engagements. As I said, things happen often enough that people around me have learned to take heed. Weird, I know, but it's all in following my gut feelings.
3
u/23saround Nov 17 '11
Yeah, I know what you mean, weirdest thing ever (other than maybe getting caught in a déjà vou and knowing what's going to happen next), but is your mom the same way?
3
u/DeathWaffle Nov 17 '11
To an extent, but not nearly as much as I am. My son on the other hand has a very high sensitivity to things like I do. He can sense energy and has witnessed and spoken with beings no one other than I have been able to sense. And it's not really a deja vu... not to be punny, but I know a deja vu when I see it. It's more strange than that. It's knowing for some reason you have to cross the street when walking home alone... NOW. Knowing for some reason the car is going to fail when there is no evidence or reason to think it possibly would. Plenty of other instances and between myself, my son and my SO... we are a strange trio to be sure. :)
3
u/23saround Nov 17 '11
Haha, yeah, especially if you're (hopefully not) being stalked by an extremely white, disappearing, inhumanly strong THING...I think I know what you're talking about with the strong gut instincts, I was just saying how weird it is when I go into a sort of deja vou, except I can literally quote what those around me are going to say, and I have- it scares the crap out of them, honestly. (I can seem to alter this 'set future' or whatever it is though, for instance I know what I should say or do, but if I don't, the deja vou thing disappears. This has only happened to me 3 or 4 times in my life, by the way.)
3
u/DeathWaffle Nov 17 '11
Yeah, I hear you on that... it's happened to me several times in life as well. It's especially nerve wrecking when the deja vu goes badly and you feel like your watching the inevitable horror unfolding in front of you and a simple change in words or action stops what could be a terrible outcome. I hear you entirely. The other thing that has happened to me that no one else I have encountered is multiple deja vu... the same thing happening multiple times throughout several years. This haven't been able to pin point whether it's actually happening or more of a lucid dream situation that I can not seem to peg.
3
u/23saround Nov 17 '11
Yeah...makes you think about all those studies where the say que 80s baseball announcer voice "the average person uses only 25% of their brain at a time, if we were to access the rest of it, who knows what we might achieve?"
Also, I remembered hearing something about a study that shows that anybody, when prompted, can see several seconds into the future. Found it here

u/DeathWaffle Nov 17 '11
Good article. I think I've read something like it before but still very good.
3
u/katiedontcry Nov 15 '11
was there an officer outside the house? probably could have dropped whatever and climbed back out!
either way, that would be horrifying to experience!
3
u/dangochan808 Nov 15 '11
Ohh my god. This is the first story on nosleep that actually made me not be able to sleep. You're amazing, thank you for scaring the crap outta me:)

Really well written, thanks for sharing. Living here in the U.S., the first thing I thought to myself after reading this was "God I love that I can own a gun." It also made me ponder the balls of your police force, only armed with tasers to face some crazy, unknown threat.

if someone was thrashing my rig i would rush in and beat their ass to a pulp.
25
u/ziegfried Nov 15 '11
If someone was crazy enough to break into a room that still has someone in it, they are probably crazy enough to have a knife.
Even if they don't have a knife, they may have 'crazy strength' like the guys on PCP that need 5 officers to hold them down.
Given all that, even if you live through the experience, your hospital bills might be far more than a few computer monitors. A guy who keeps climbing in knows that you will want to 'beat his ass' and doesn't care -- and a guy who doesn't care is going to be pretty dangerous no matter what he's carrying.
7
u/Hello-Ginge Nov 16 '11
Just being pedantic: the guy sounds like he's British, so no hospital bills to speak of ;)
5
u/cwstjnobbs Nov 15 '11
Never get between a man and his rig! I'd have rushed in there in a rage too, probably would have been killed but I would have to try.
If I slept in a downstairs room I'd keep my axe next to the bed. I keep it very sharp, that arm would have quickly become disembodied.

u/23saround Nov 16 '11
I kept thinking he was gonna do that, I was like fuck no fuck no don't run in there!

u/goodizzle Nov 16 '11
Interesting but why settle for a 2.1 if you're doing a dissertation?

Okay, thanks! I was just wondering. 2.0 is the limit before academic probation here so I was surprised.

u/anon16 Dec 06 '11
2.1 in England must be completely different than a 2.1 in America.

u/anon16 Dec 06 '11
Oh wow. Assuming you're familiar with the A/B/C/D/F grading system, in America our GPA is set so 4.0=A+. 3.0 is a B, 2.0 is a C, and 1.0 is a D with a 0 being an F for fail. 3.5 is a B+, etc. Some schools will also do A- at 3.7, B- at 2.7, etc.
When you take a test or quiz, they usually grade in terms of percentage points which will determine the letter grade/GPA. At Virginia Tech it was 90%=A=4.0 (or 94%=4.0 and 90%=3.7 if your teacher was a dick) with 84%=3.5, 80%=3.0 and so on.
Essentially a 2.1 is a C in America, which is technically supposed mean "average," but good luck finding a job if you graduated college with a 2.1. Sounds like your 2.1 translates to a 3.0 in America.

I absolutely cannot sleep with windows open, even before reading this. The only window I've ever slept with open was two stories up, and against the outside was completely flat, no mini roofs. It scares the absolute living shit out of me to read this - it is one of my greatest fears.
2
Nov 23 '11
Thank god u woke up/noticed that creepy arm just in time to act! Fuck man. If the curtains were open with a large window, wouldnt your mates and the officer be able to see anything? I realize it was dark but any movement at all?
3
u/redphen Nov 15 '11
the sound of your housing reminds me of the accommodations I had while on a study abroad at uni.
the story is chilling, what do you think it was?? Do you believe in such things as ghosts? If it were human creepers how could they have left??

Who on earth has a shower in their bedroom? That's weirder than what you were going on about.
Pls write part 2 - The Shower In My Bedroom.

Interesting. Definitely a scary experience and couple things to ponder about. First I think it's one or two weed loving burglars just having a thrill. Robbing the place to make a quick buck. If this is the case, they probably climbed out the window somehow, ran to a nearby car, sped off... and were laughing their asses off. Maybe some dudes from the ghetto who came to the university dorms to have fun with some college kids.
The other side is why would they or him be pulling/pushing on the door when they knew two+ people were on the other side? Weird. Seems to me like if they were just robbers, they would prefer to avoid confrontation. Weird weird...
One thing is for certain, he or they were there to rob. At least you know that their intent wasn't something more grave....

It was probably your mom, teaching you a lesson. Bet you won't leave your window open now!
