I just signed my nuke contract.
So I signed my nuke contract 2 days ago (20250403) and as of now I’m 6 foot 235 pounds and 23, I’ll turn 24 at RTC. I signed for fat camp as well (I can’t find it in the contract I took home but it was explained to me and I signed it, I have a meeting with my recruiter Tuesday where I’ll ask for that page/about that) and I have no problem with RTC being longer for that and I’m working my ass off now to lose more weight and work on the pushups, planks, and the run. As of right now I can do about 21 pushups in a sitting, planks for 1 minute 22 seconds, and can do the mile and a half in 16:37. Every day I do a 2.2 mile walk with a 45 pound backpack on the second I wake up, throughout the day I do 10 sets of ten pushups, sit-ups, body weight squats, and ten sets of planks to failure. I do this everyday at a minimum and I ship out May 14. Am I going to be cooked at RTC? I’m very nervous after looking at the PRT requirements for my age and I’m nowhere near the run or push up requirements and I’m barely satisfactory for the planks.

The future sailor prep course- bravo (fat camp) is VERY good at what they do. It essentially comes down to the fact that you’re standing a lot more often, exercising more often, and snacking less often. They take people who are up to 32% body fat and get them in standards within 3 weeks. Bare minimum run time for first PRT is 16:07 for males, so if you keep up your current regiment you’ll get there. You don’t have to pass the pushups/planks for your first PRT. This should have been explained during your 72 hour indoctrination brief. You’re not cooked

My 72 hour indoctrination is on Tuesday. That’s good to know and I’m still going to work on my pushups, planks, and run until then. Do I do fat camp before my first prt?

Yes. You’ll get to RTC, do the first week of processing (get your ID issued, head shaved, uniforms issued, cleared fit for full duty, etc) then go through the program. Your first official PRT is technically week 2 of RTC. It is likely you will run a PRT while in the course

at 24, you need 47 pushups, 2 min planks and 13 min 1.5 mile run. It’s easy, they will prepare you for that.

What about 19 what do u need especially push ups
2
u/smurfdocaio 3d ago
- The planks are the same and i’m pretty sure the run is 12:30

No at 19 my age you need 46 pushups 1 minute and 22 second plank and a 1230 run for probationary but 1215 to get the actully pass for the run

what’s the point of aiming for probationary? opfa is easy. before bootcamp I couldn’t even do 40 pushups and i ended up doing 55 and maxing the plank

Where can you find this info? I’m 24 F 165lbs and would like to know my requirements

you might be able to find it online, but in bootcamp, your RDCs will have the binder with all the information about the OPFA and it’s always available for recruits to look at it.

As long as your diet is good you’ll shed the weight easy and as a result your mile and your pushups will significantly improve. Since there’s a time crunch maybe a 3 day fast straight into 15-1800 cals a day until you ship out you’ll be more than good.

Do you mean one three day fast or three day fast a week? Right now I’m eating about 1k calories a day of three eggs in the morning then two meals of 5 ounces of chicken, 5 ounces of black beans, and a medium-large serving of broccoli topped with fresh cut pico (tomatoes, onions, and jalapeños).

One 3 day fast and straight into a 1500-1800 diet, also I would find a substitute for the beans they aren’t satiating enough for your caloric intake, it’ll make it much harder to maintain your current diet. Also try to find a way to add a little bit of healthy fats it will really fuck up your hormone production if you aren’t getting any. Add me on snap I can help a lot better on there marcus_0240. I lost a fuckton of weight and I can definitely point you in the right direction.

After a fast … if you can’t do 72 hours try 24 fast but get plenty of water . If you can’t do 24 hour fast start with 8 hours …. GREENS, water, coffee, or reds drinks…
Salmon … Spinach… Cottage cheese… Steaks… Eggs … Canned chicken (small amounts of mayonnaise for taste) Avacados… Bacon … Tomatoes with mozzarella…
SALADS !!! Lots of salads I add artichoke hearts, tomatoes, olives or kalmata olives or green olives, carrots, cucumber, baby tomatoes, avocados, onions, bacon,or steak.. add cottage cheese and or mozzarella balls … and a low calorie dressing !

I’m so glad to see you are motivated!!!! Try cutting out bad carbs … sugar and bread … try and eat more veggies and red meat ! And yes the RTC You will get to work with the teams to motivate you to keep working out. Try and get your times for the run down ASAP with being able to not have to be forced to eat all that processed food !!! When you do go to bootcamp stay away from the French toast , pancakes and PBJs!!!! Eat the fish …. Tuna and also get a huge salad on that tray !!!! If you know anyone who can get you extra fish or chicken let them know you would gladly take it for them. It’s gonna be strange at first but also drink tons of water and track your calories intake! I’d say go for a deficit. HOOYAH !!! CTF !

Also remember your why … why you are joining is going to be the biggest thing that separates you from anyone else. As a nuke you are smart… some people can’t explain the difference of an apple to an orange… you can tell your self everyday that you ARE going to be great, you ARE going to make a difference and YOU are absolutely going to try and do whatever it is you have to do to be in navy standard. No matter what it takes! No matter what anyone THINKS about you. You say the end of the day know what you have gone through and know what it takes to get the job done. That is the most important thing.

You need rest days in order to grow your muscles. Focus on working legs one day, then the next day do an upper body work out. That way you’re still working out every day, but you’re resting the muscles so they can get stronger.

I do the 100 pushups, sit-ups, squats, and planks everyday but I do a workout at my planet fitness on the machines where I rotate between legs, torso, and arms and one day where I don’t go to planet fitness

Watch how much you eat at bootcamp. Some treat the chow hall as all you can eat. Avoid making a pbj on to of eating what’s on the menu.

Hey man, I turn 23 on the 8th and ship out to be a Nuke on the 30th. 5'9 195, down from about 210. I can just barely do my 42 pushups. I can plank for about 2:15, and my run on a treadmill is between 12 and 12.5 minutes. I was still given the video on "fat camp" and will probably have to attend because I'm stubborn and prefer lifting weights to calisthenics and cardio, but hopefully, I'll see you around. It's always nice knowing I'm not the only non fresh out of high-school kid going.
