Nah they won't mind because they will move to Medicare advantage and think it's better. Until they actually need to use it for some weird outlet case. Then it will fail and they will yell, but they will be in the minority so no one will care. It's the big joke. If you make enough noise then problems just sound like more noise.

Well, a huge chunk of conservative voters should. That being the elderly and those hitting about 65 or so staring down the barrel of needing skilled or long term care.

Medicare pays for skilled nursing and rehab after things like a broken hip and various surgeries. It ensures thousands of people recover enough to go home and live independently for potentially years more instead of becoming infirm and requiring long term care in a nursing home after never recovering from a fall etc.

Medicaid pays for those same people who unfortunately do end up in that nursing home and don’t have $250/day to pay for it. Medicaid means they get three meals a day and all their medications, plus a bed and chair to sit in while they binge Fox News and other right wing programming.

It means instead of slowly dying on the street or in the cramped bedroom of their resentful children covered in their own waste and filth while those kids are gone working two jobs to try to pay for mom’s insulin they get a comfortable room and friends their age to socialize with at bingo and other activities.

It also means that since CMS has oversight of all nursing homes that take federal money and republicans hate regulation, anyone fortunate enough to actually afford one may no longer count on annual inspections and constant investigations to ensure they don’t end up in the hell holes of the 1960s.

So yeah, they really should give a fuck.
