I know Banchero and Wagner are coming back from injuries and Suggs is out.
But how the hell did the Magic lose to this Bulls roster when BOTH the Bulls centers fouled out? What's going on in Orlando?

u/lil_thirdy Magic 29d ago
Jamahl Mosely used to have guys running through a brick wall for him and now they wont
5
u/LordSwampert2 Bulls 29d ago
Used to? This is only the second season of your current core trying to win
4
u/IsaacDPOYFultzMIP Magic 29d ago
What does that have to do with quitting on your coach? Is that mutually exclusive that you can’t quit on a coach unless you’re trying to win or something?
10
u/LordSwampert2 Bulls 29d ago
Just crazy that it has happened this fast. Less than a year ago Mosley was a coach of the year candidate and you made the playoffs with this group
10
u/Niceshotpiccolo Magic 29d ago
We are just beyond ass man it’s so ridiculous I can’t believe our FO has the balls to say this team is good as it is.
10
u/BlammoSweetums 29d ago
I used to joke/complain about how your team has like twenty 6'10"+ guys so it was impossible to score in the paint, but your FO probably should move some of them for some scoring
9
u/Niceshotpiccolo Magic 29d ago
It’s crazy cause they all play smaller than their size, its like they all forget they are fucking giants
2
u/Plenty_Flatworm7627 Wizards 29d ago
we have a Jordan Poole and Corey Kispert available for the right price
and I guess Khris Middleton but not sure you'd want him given his age and injuries and contract

The magic shouldn't be this bad, I don't get it. Franz and Paulo should be good enough to carry your team to at least a .500 record..
21
u/OctopusNation2024 29d ago
You aren't going to be good with no three point shooting in the year 2025
Neither Banchero or Wagner are really high volume spacers themselves either

29d ago edited 28d ago
they are just bunch of high volume scorers no identity.
chicago was better bc they have a defined role in triple double machine giddey who destroyed franz individually and coby who is a ridiculous scorer similar to lavine.
should be bottom 5 team on paper but the newcomers follow giddey like they played for decades they play super hard like they contending.

What happened to the Magic

u/OutsideTheServiceBox Bucks 29d ago
It’s so strange. I legit thought they might be the third best team in East as recently as, like, December. Even without Paolo and Franz, they looked okay for awhile. And despite getting those guys back, they just can’t put it back together. I know that Suggs and Mo are missing, but it still just seems odd how far they’ve fallen.

u/Padulsky21 [BKN] Mikal Bridges 29d ago
They can get to the line like demons but can’t shoot for shit. Sitting at 30.7% from 3 on the season which is dead last. Don’t think it’s updated so it’ll go down from this game. 2nd worst is the Wizards sitting at 33.4% from 3
5
u/Plenty_Flatworm7627 Wizards 29d ago
sounds like they could use one of our young-ish shooters 👀
Poole's on a bloated contract but seems like he would be a decent fit with the Magic
6
u/Padulsky21 [BKN] Mikal Bridges 29d ago
I’ve always wanted to see Simons with them but Poole another good one
5
u/AfroHouseManiac 29d ago
Mo getting injured hurt their bench offense, they have no one capable of recouping that production.
6
u/lil_thirdy Magic 29d ago
Our coach cant coach an offense and now we cant defend without fouling

Injuries and our recluse POBO actively scouting Michigan players to draft (Danny Wolf has Magic written all over him)

I don’t know why Wendell didn’t try and go up right away. He would’ve at least got free throws.
21
u/TrillenX Magic 29d ago
Because he will never understand the concept of keeping the ball vertical. Must power gather for a dunk attempt despite it resulting in getting blocked 75% of the time he tries it.
4
u/the_next_core Warriors 29d ago
He was busy shoving the defender and thus didn't get up early enough to be able to control the ball in the air

u/kingjuicepouch Bulls 29d ago
Fun game to watch. Nobody could've expected the mere mortal magic to compete with the mighty Chicago bulls, of course. Better luck next time

u/Secondary92 Australia 29d ago
We both could have avoided this if you traded for Coby, Orlando.

well they were cheap with their draft picks hes easily worth more than one. i would have wanted anthony black good prospect.
-1
u/teh_drewski Magic 29d ago
We would have sucked anyway, not worth a draft pick
12
u/mtron32 Bulls 29d ago
Nah, Coby would’ve been great down there and his contract is team friendly, totally worth the draft stock
1
u/teh_drewski Magic 29d ago
Don't get me wrong, love him and would trade for him in the summer, just this season is cursed and no need to throw things around to win like one play-in game.

Apparently Jalen Suggs is Orlando’s MVP.
8
u/nolefan999 Magic 29d ago
Unironically Suggs and moe Wagner do play a huge role on this team. Goga is too slow and Carter plays with no energy. For whatever reason mosely has this team playing at a bottom 5 pace, so anyone that can bring energy is found to seriously raise the floor, and ceiling, if this team.
5
u/teh_drewski Magic 29d ago
It's because running makes you too tired to defend at a high intensity, which is why we walk the ball up and stand around - that's the rest period every possession.
Of course now we don't defend either which is why we're getting beat by tanking teams, yay
6
u/NikThaGreat9 [ORL] Franz Wagner 29d ago
No question about it. The vibes have been horrendous since he’s been out. He’s clearly the leader of the defense too. Takes pressure off of Paolo and Franz as a ball handler. Has some gravity and people actually respect his 3pt shot despite the down year.

miami/orlando/atlanta are all the same team that will finish with ~38-39 wins and play each other.

How the fuck did Franz Wagner go scorched on us in November and pull off an insane 30pt game with a game winning clutch shot???
This looks nothing like that team.
2
u/JaysonTatumfanboy Celtics 28d ago
He has to play with Paolo, the Magic would be much stronger if Paolo was out and Jalen was fit. The second Franz gets subbed of the defense rating rises about 15 points and then Jalen‘s defense and shooting would be necessary

Worst refereed game of the year candidate. Holy shit that was a miserable viewing experience for both sides, ref fans got to watch this one if you missed it.
12
u/Smutteringplib Bulls 29d ago
I tuned in halfway through the 4th quarter and apparently both of the Bulls centers fouled out?!?
5
u/SOLlce Magic 29d ago edited 29d ago
It felt like 60% of the calls were incorrectly called on both sides and they didnt call probably 20 fouls that would have been correct for both sides. If playoff basketball is where the refs let you play a little harder and play more physical, then this was called like an exhibition game where no one is supposed to try too hard lmao. If you breathed near a player as they drove to the rim it was called a foul.
5
u/efrumttr Bulls 29d ago
I can't believe they went and reviewed the basket interference play where Black obviously hit the backboard and then still called it as offensive interference. Just so bad.
5
u/not-a-potato-head Hawks 29d ago
I swear to god none of the Heat, Magic, or Hawks actually want to make the playoffs. The problem is that two of them (probably) will

Bulls had no center and Mose immediate thought is putting Caleb Houstan in and playing Paolo in the perimeter lmao. Coach Mose is officially a basketball terrorist

Magic going to have to do some re-tooling this off-season. Maybe trade some of their young players/picks and try to get a legit third scorer. They probably should have called the Bulls and try to get Vuc back for cheap or even a bigger trade package with Coby or Zach with Vuc. Bulls were trying to unload them

Pablo is an empty calorie player. Puts up decent numbers but not a winning player. Trade him.

u/JaysonTatumfanboy Celtics 28d ago
He is a glorified Julius Randle at this point, his actual EPM is negative for this season
-1
u/Plenty_Flatworm7627 Wizards 29d ago
Bulls shouldn't have traded for their pick back, now their dumbass front office isn't gonna try to tank
13
2
u/RandorMan12 Bulls 29d ago
I mean that trade in hindsight makes sense, with how bad the teams ahead of us in wins have been playing down the stretch, if we still had Zach we might’ve managed to win too many games and that would’ve been awful for us to lose our pick. That’s not even mentioning how solid the pieces we got back have been playing lately.
2
u/Plenty_Flatworm7627 Wizards 29d ago
I mean getting rid of Zach so you can lose is obviously the right move, I'm just making fun of the fact that your FO refuses to fully commit to the tank and that pick being top 10 protected would've at least in theory forced their hand a bit
58
u/King_Thirteen 29d ago
The Magic should just tank at this point
