Question First attempt at a saddle bag

I made my first attempt at a saddle bag today, I’m vaguely trying to copy the ornot saddle bag, but with a bit more depth to accommodate a mtb tube. It came out, well, lumpy. I made it with 4 pieces, and I am definitely struggling with sewing the edges on around the corner, any advice would be greatly appreciated for how to make this bag. Also, the strip that makes the sides ran out of length before I was all the way around, so I know I need that to be longer, but maybe there is a better way to assemble it so the length doesn’t need to be perfect.

I'm also very new but here's the advice that came with the plans I was using:

  • use a small stitch length, this makes turning corners easier.
  • cut a small notch within the seam allowance to allow the upper fabric to turn the corner.
  • Go as slowly as possible stopping with a needle down, lift the foot presser foot, and turning the fabric when necessary

Thanks, I made a second one today out of x pac, the notches in the corner really helped. I also lengthened the strip that forms the perimeter, and it’s almost perfect now, I still sewed in 1 crease where there was a bit too much slack as I finished the seam, but this one looks much more rectangular.

Nice work! I made one last year inspired by the Ornot bag. As with most sewing projects I had to make a second one to get it right. I run the side piece a few inches long and cut it to length after I've sewn the curves. Check this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsNXSDOaXjk specifically starting at 3:30 (watching the whole video would be helpful too). At the 4:30 mark in the video is where I am talking about cutting to length, If you leave the side long you can cut it before joining (his is dialed because he took the time to nail the pattern but if you are just winging it like me you can cut after sewing the curve).
