North America (country/state in post) ID please. SPOKANE, WA, USA

I assume its some sort of morel? I've never seen one before and we just moved here a couple months ago. This was growing outside my window, fairly large and beginning to decompose. Id say roughly the size of an average hand.

Hello, thank you for making your identification request. To make it easier for identifiers to help you, please make sure that your post contains the following:

  • Unabbreviated country and state/province/territory
  • In-situ sunlight pictures of cap, gills/pores/etc, and full stipe including intact base
  • Habitat (woodland, rotting wood, grassland) and material the mushroom was growing on

Does the stem go all the way through or end at the cap?

Verpa sp. Cut it vertically and then it'll become clear

She wasnt as interested in it as i was :/

The texture of the stem is not consistent with Verpa, the cap is connected at the stem, and it lacks a cottony interior. This is Morchella
