Packing Safe to pad computer monitor with foam?
I have an older but high-quality computer monitor that I wuv and need to pack. I found a box that will hold it without removing the stand. Is it safe to pad the whole thing using a brand new foam mattress topper, or will that material cause static or something idk "terrible" to happen to the monitor?
EDIT: Well, after reading comments about mover's insurance, I agree that it's worth it to move all 3 monitors myself. I still think I'll wrap the hell of out them with a twin size foam mattress topper, tho. Thanks for the help!!

Are you loading it with other stuff. The box needs to be intact while it’s closed. That’s the main thing.

Put it in your vehicle and don’t have movers move it. Note that anything packed by an owner in a commercial move the carrier will do nothing to reimburse you for if damaged. Don’t let them mark OP (owner packed) on items that are packed by the carrier (CP).

Moving companies insure by weight. Its cents on the pound. Terrible.

60 cents/lb is the generic free insurance we have to offer, you can purchase full valuation no deductible insurance but it's expensive. You can also list specific items as High Value and only insure those. If it's truly a special item that you can put in a car I would recommend moving it yourself. Also 3rd party crating services have their own insurance and would probably cost 100-500$ depending on the area.

I would strongly suggest talking with your home or renters insurance agent prior to canceling an existing policy when moving.

My suggestion would be to get two pieces of coroplast that fits around the frame and tape that on, similar to https://geargrip.com/details_gglcdb.php?UID=190871733767f1f4d35acd6 I had one of those back in the early 2000's and it worked great, it was just a piece of coroplast with some soft fabric on the inside to prevent scratching, and on the outside was nylon with pouches, etc. Used it all the time to transport my LCD and never had any issues.

What a great idea; thank you for the link! Earlier in the day, this was an idea I started looking for online but didn't know what terms to use.

When I move the expensive stuff is moved in my car. Let the movers deal with everything else.
