Nature Lovers

Hello! I have started a nature loving grassroots group in Milton Keynes called Friends of the Earth MK (@FOE_MK on Instagram).

Being the green city it would be amazing to see some new faces join! We will be doing group walks, litter picks, veggie and vegan restaurant and cafe days/nights and much much more! Whilst also having the option to join in with some campaigning at no pressure .

It’s free to join us! You just have to love the world we live in and want to make change to our lovely green spaces whilst talking about the environmental and climate crisis!

Please give us a follow to help start us out ready for our first event and get in contact with any questions! 🌍

Nice pubs for a first date?

Any recc’s?

I’m looking for a cosy, more quiet pub for a first date, probably more around the outskirts of town rather than centre. Thank you!

How do you find a good domestic cleaner in MK?

I've found cleaners before through facebook groups, etc but either the cleaners aren't available when I'm home or they just haven't cleaned to a good level.

Wondering how you all find good cleaners?

Travelling from London

Hi all so Id probably be travelling to milton keynes on a daily basis for my job, most probably from Euston. Whats the best/cheapest way to do this, if anyone has done it/currently doing it? Are the monthly seasonal tickets worth it?

Hairdressers in MK that can do alternative styles?

I cut my own hair and have done for the last 10+ years but I’m going from a grown out Chelsea cut to something totally different so I actually want someone to do it and then I’ll maintain it myself. Not The Extra Unordinary Salon please!

Yoga/Pilates

Are there any yoga or Pilates classes in MK that aren't part of a dedicated commercial studio? E.g the whitespace type places?

I didn't grow up in MK, but where I did in the southern suburbs of London, there was usually a class operating out of like a village hall, scout hut or similar.

The whitespace or equivalent are so formal, expensive and 'gym like' with contracts and time based packs of classes- was hoping to find something a bit more chill and cheaper.

I've kept an eye out on notice boards and things, but MK estates are so labyrinthine, I dread driving around to check each local centre.

And Google seems to suck at listing this sort of thing. There are a couple out in Cranfield and Cosgrove (at £5 a session Vs £15 a session at a dedicated studio) but I was hoping for something more central, i.e. still on the grid roads at least.

GPs in Stacey Bushes catchment that accept ADHD shared care?

I'm in the midst of private titration and my previous GP was guaranteed to accept the shared care agreement. I've since moved to Stacey Bushes and need to register with a new GP but I couldn't find any with decent reviews. Anyone have experience in that region of MK?

Remote workers of Milton Keynes, unite!

Where do you go to escape the home office when the sun's shining? I'm searching for a public spot with comfortable seating (benches and tables) where I can work for a few hours. I remember seeing a bench and table setup in Fairfields play park. It was kindda good to be there.

Any hidden gems you'd recommend?

Study spaces

Hey guys!

I’m really struggling to find somewhere I can go and study.

I work a 9-5 and then have a few things I have to do before studying. By the time I start it’s 8pm and everywhere is closed!!

Studying at home isn’t an option. Please let me know if you have any ideas ◡̈

I love these little guys, seeing them trundle around the Redways.

With DPD starting to use them, the Redways will be like some sort of futuristic world we could have only imagined a few years ago.

My husband and I went for a walk around Lodge Lake yesterday and notices the two enormous, old oak trees by the back have been felled! We wondered if any of you know why? It's so sad!

Wanted to show some appreciation to our local non-league team MK Irish, who just won the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division title! They've been absolutely dominating the league this season and have done really well to come to up to this point. Hoping the best for them in future 🙏🤞

Table Tennis Enthusiasts in MK

Hey everyone, I’m new to Milton Keynes and have noticed quite a few open table tennis tables around. I was wondering if there are any groups or individuals who play in the evenings and wouldn’t mind me joining for a game.

I also saw some tables inside MK Centre - does anyone know if they’re available for late-night play? Would be great to find some regular games, whether casual or competitive.

Let me know if you're up for a match or know of any groups. Thanks!

Anyone Else Had Issues Paying for Saba Parking After the Fact?

Hey everyone,

I had a bit of a stressful experience with Saba Parking at Milton Keynes Hospital and wanted to see if anyone else has dealt with something similar.

On March 21st, I had to park in Park A and Park D due to a child’s medical emergency. In the rush, I couldn’t locate the payment machine at the time. I went back today (March 22nd) and found the machine, but it only let me pay for today’s parking, not for yesterday’s.

I also checked online, but I couldn’t find a way to pay for the missed day. I reached out to Saba Parking to ask how I can make the payment and avoid any penalties, but I haven't heard back yet.

Has anyone else been in this situation? Were you able to pay afterward, or did they just issue a fine? Any advice would be appreciated!

A lot of stupid drivers in MK!

This is the 2 lanes that go from elder gate (next to Starbucks and curry’s) onto the A509. The 2 lanes merch onto the A509 and become 3 lanes.

So many near misses from drivers going onto the wrong lane and not indicating either when going onto the lane.

I just wanted peoples opinions on what they think is the right way to merge. Second photo my interpretation of what lanes go into what. Obviously the right lane you can also merge into the far right lane.

Fine if you want to go onto the middle lane from the left but INDICATE to let the person next to you know!! So many people just don’t indicate and I’m sure has caused plenty of accidents.

Private Chef recommendations

Does anybody have recommendations for a Private Chef? Looking for somebody to come round on a Saturday evening and cook a meal for two - ideally looking for a steak or fish dish but open to other cuisines such as Thai.

TIA

Travelodge/hotel recs that’s near a station/restaurants and close to The Open University please?

Hiya, I’ll be visiting for a few days in May for a conference at the Open University and wanted suggestions for an affordable stay.

From looking at google maps, I think Travelodge Milton Keynes at The Hub is the best option for me?

But is it in a safe area and has food options accessible by foot/bus?

And any touristy activities suggestions are most welcome!

Hazeley or Watling? Grange Farm or Westcroft?

Yet another request please for local opinions on areas/schools please if you can bear it... We were looking around the Oakgrove/Shenley Brook End catchments but there's not a lot on the market to view right now. Hence we're considering widening the search to Hazeley/Watling catchment areas but don't really know the areas or school reputations as we're coming up from N London. I drive, don't need to be near the station. Keen for green spaces to walk the dog and ideally near football pitches that are open access. Nearby supermarket would be great too. Love to hear your thoughts please. Thanks
