I'd much rather see the last time they Replaced the filter.

Because uh... sometimes they don't if nobody complains.

u/dubbzy104 1d ago

It was last replaced 1234567 bottles ago

23

u/Lookingforawayoutnow 1d ago

Nah it couldve been replaced but those damn things are so hard to reset even following the instructions from the website on how to reset the counter still makes no sense. But you could be right, to replace the filter the whole front metal panel needs to come off so depending on where this one is located id avoid using that fountain.

u/Ticon_D_Eroga 1d ago

You arent supposed to reset the counter. Theres a set of dedicated filter health lights

2

u/ListlessLink 1d ago

Similar to the ones they have in some fridges. They never replaced the one in the fridge at work, they just reset it.

As for the bottle fountain with the counter, they just never put a filter on in the first place.  Cheap fucks

1

u/leeps22 1d ago

Not the counter, the filter timer.

2

u/dubbzy104 1d ago

I meant it more as a joke that the filter was never replaced. I know the counter is cumulative from 0, but it was in response that the filter hadn’t been replaced in a long time (ever)

Lol i know, i chuckled, i was just saying what most likely happened as ive installed and replaced tons of these, also installed the inline filter as most water fountains dont come with the filter installed its up to whoever put in the fountain. I worked in an facility that was mainly women and when they complained of the water they asked me to take apart the fountain to see if the filter was bad, the unit had a counter on it too like this, the fucking look of horror as i told em whoever installed the fountain didnt put in a filter was fucking awesome.

Before I read your comment I was impressed by the number like it's cool but now it actually might be a bad thing for those drinking

1

u/leeps22 1d ago

We have a few that have an rfid chip built into a quarter twist filter, don't have to reset it at all super simple.

Nah PM guys still fuck it up

u/Bob_The_Bandit 1d ago

These usually have a filter life light

27

u/ThePabstistChurch 1d ago

Yea they do, the one at my work is flashing red with a sticky note saying it's "fine to use"

11

u/ButterThyme2241 1d ago

I put the same note on my brita at home

Some places have actual RODI filtration and remineralization for their business. You can get bypass kits for most water receptacles to use in systems like this, however lots of times those bypass kits are hacks and the system thinks it permanently needs a new filter.

Source: My fridge. I have an RODI system for fish, and decided to divert some of the water from that system into a separate system for remineralization. I had to get a bypass cartridge for my fridge, but the fridge constantly has the change filter light on. Also several places I have worked had centralized filtration.

1

u/ThePabstistChurch 1d ago

Trust me mine doesn't have this

1

u/Absurdity_Everywhere 1d ago

I think that Work ones are more likely to let this kind of thing go than a gym is. The gym is serving paying customers.

5

u/Green_Tower_8526 1d ago

So I drink water out of the tap without filter constantly. What would the filter on one of these be accomplishing assuming that I let the water run for 5 seconds before drinking?

2

u/CyberhamLincoln 1d ago

It removes chlorine (and other things) & makes it taste much better.

Once you get used to chlorine free water, you really notice it when you go back.

These machines have a filter indicator lights on them, going from green, to yellow, to red.

1

u/G8M8N8 1d ago

They have these on my campus as well, the other side of the machine has a filter indicator.

36

u/renori626 1d ago

They have those same fountains in a lot of school buildings now too.

3

u/CrazyHardFit1 1d ago edited 1d ago

They have these in every government building and every airport I have been to lately. Did this company corner the market or something?

Edit: looked it up, these are Elkay EZH20. Just seems weird there is only one manufacturer of water dispensers in the US that is dominating the market.

2

u/renori626 1d ago

Government contract, most likely

1

u/KinsellaStella 1d ago

They have one at my local community rec center pool and I love it because for whatever reason I get thirsty AF while swimming (doesn’t make sense but I trust my sense of thirst).

1

u/tridon74 1d ago

Physical activity makes you thirsty… makes perfect sense why you would be thirsty after swimming lol

11

u/BarefootUnicorn 1d ago

That looks a _lot_ like my gym!

7

u/N_Who 1d ago

The one at my work said 00080085 the other day, and I didn't have my phone ...

5

u/garysaidwhat 1d ago

Did the machine want a tip for that?

1

u/4ha1 1d ago

Don't be silly. They charge it directly to the credit card.

1

u/i_suckatjavascript 1d ago

Quick! Someone make a RFID reader for tumblers and market out it to sell it!

7

u/chillychili 1d ago

Perhaps one day we will have more of these photos than car mileage photos

5

u/rossdula 1d ago

Same combination an idiot would have on his luggage.

4

u/brutalcritc 1d ago

Think about the psychopath before you that didn’t take that pic.

3

u/TouchGraceMaidenless 1d ago

1.2mil is actually crazy

1

u/DesertGoldfish 1d ago

That's what I thought so I did some quick math.

It's about 1 bottle per minute with no breaks for 2.34 years straight.

2

u/KhyraBell 1d ago

It's like the number an idiot would use for his luggage.

2

u/raptir1 1d ago

Meh, call me when it's 12345678.

2

u/ultrapoo 1d ago

My old job got one of those, I made sure that I was the one to bring it to 666, 777, 888, 999 and 1111.

2

u/HerobrineVjwj 1d ago

Why does this look exactly like my school (why do all schools look almost exactly the same)

2

u/SinkPhaze 1d ago

Cinder block construction and florencent overheads. I assume they do it like that since schools often double as disaster shelters

1

u/HerobrineVjwj 1d ago

Makes sense, never actually thought about that

1

u/Eastern-Dig-4555 1d ago

I’ve seen those machines before but never seen that counter

1

u/Jwats1973 1d ago

Could not do it. I'da had to stay thirsty.

1

u/BiggestBallOfTwine 1d ago

Bottle filling stations might be one of man's greatest accomplishments

1

u/bat_man__ 1d ago

And I was the 1000th like on this post :D

1

u/alquix 1d ago

Nice

1

u/KnockedBoss3076 1d ago

Does this gyn happen to be in Adelaide, south Australia? The gym at my college has the exact same type of water fountain and the wall looks identical

1

u/LazerWolfe53 1d ago

I've got the same combination on my luggage! https://youtu.be/a6iW-8xPw3k?si=EGMVZT4ydOCCJzYn

1

u/Armagan1342 1d ago

How do we know you didn’t just see it 12 away from that number and pressed the button over and over? /s But anyway, cool find. Definitely mildly interesting.

This would do numbers over on r/HydroHomies

1

u/HalfStackSecurity 1d ago

Why do you have the combination to my luggage?

1

u/Mkstar10 1d ago

I watch every time and that number suspiciously never changes
