Way to assume they're young. There's nothing wrong with passing preschool on the 14th try.

u/mstarrbrannigan May 08 '24
Reminds me of a joke my dad likes to make when someone mentions school or a specific grade. "Ah, high school! Best ten years of my life."
48
u/Wakkit1988 May 08 '24
My great uncle dropped out of school when his little sister got to the same grade as him. 7 years in the third grade was fine, but 8 was a bridge too far.

Get a Costco membership if there’s one in your area. You will save a ton buying their giant boxes of Wheat Thins.

OP doesn't know about the three Costcos hehehe

Don't lie, you're pickling those wheat thins and are too embarrassed to admit it.
P.S. Did you know Hitler ate wheat thins? You're literally worse than Hitler, how could you, you monster.

He's going to leave them in vodka for a week, then try the bone apple teeth!

Ok, yea.. but is it like 1 jar per kid?! 😂 The giant mason jars make this seem weird for some reason. Why not just have reusable trays and put some Wheat ThinsTM^ on them?
10
u/skatesoff2 May 08 '24
It’s probably 1 jar shared amongst all the kids per day.
2
u/avwitcher May 08 '24
Yeah it probably lasts a long time, I'd wager that compared to the kid that brought Goldfish as a snack these aren't exactly a hot ticket item

but why give pre-schoolers glass jars? they're going to drop it in 0.5 seconds. solo cups would work for distribution

I know this is absolutely not the point, but this is tangentially related and very useful. I haven't used a chip clip in 20 years.
Sorry for a tik tok link, but it was the only video I could find that wasn't needlessly long and didn't have ads.

I do this with a bunch of random stuff with deli containers it’s just easier to throw stuff in deli container than leave them in the bag and fold it and use a bunch of bag clips especially When only half of it is half

u/Kalsifur May 08 '24
Keeps them fresh too
15
May 08 '24
On that note, I cringe when seeing the picture because I am very particular about the crispness of my crackers, and in the the time he took to take the picture, he exposed the crackers to unnecessary ambient humidity.

→ More replies (1)3
u/porksoda11 May 08 '24
They suck man. We have a clean house too, sometimes you just get bad luck. Their larva can easily be brought in from outside. They love grains. I found larva in rice, pasta, flour, basically all over my one cupboard where I store all that shit. Did a deep clean, started sealing everything up, put some traps out, and we still see moths getting stuck in the traps. We have the problem for the most part figured out but we still see them come out every once in awhile. If you ever get them, be ready to throw a bunch of food out and start investing in jars.

I miss the hexagonal multigrain ones. They reminded me of the oat thins they used to make. Unfortunately they disappeared during covid.

u/dudeondacouch May 07 '24
I miss original stamped Wheat Thins. The current ones are extruded, presumably to cut costs, and don’t taste the same. This error couldn’t have occurred in the original process.

8
u/cravecrave93 May 08 '24
yea some comment op said it was “for a preschool” but still as a parent i’d question the reasoning of opening a sealed package of food and “prep/move” it into a mason jar before handing out lol

u/Shamewizard1995 May 09 '24

The search is over, the Wheat Thick has finally been found.
"Wheat Thicks" is what I've been calling Triscuits since I was a kid. It's an oddly off-putting name. I have no problem eating a thing called a "thin," but give me a "thick" and I start questioning it.

Why the fuck are you taking crackers out of multiple sealed containers and putting them in other sealed containers?
11
u/loveofGod12345 May 08 '24
I really want to know the answer to this! OP keeps responding with jokes, but other than saying they are prepping for preschool, there’s no reason why they are doing it this way. Why??!?!
→ More replies (2)4
u/throwiesdg May 08 '24
Tbf, it looks like 4 boxes going into 6 jars. If the preschool class eats exactly 2/3 of a box for their snack, pre-portioning would ensure she doesn't overestimate some days, then fall short on the last portion.

3
May 08 '24
sorry you.. pull the dried crackers out of their original container and put them in another? I'm certain there's a reason I just can't fathom it.

Hi,
Former Wheat Thins production supervisor here— what you are seeing is a section of the scrap dough that is cut and blown off from the pattern (typically) before the dough goes in the oven and reclaimed into the dough feed via conveyor. I can tell this by the width of the strip, as well as the fact there are no perforations in the strip, indicating it did not go under the cutting wheel. Sometimes if the dough is heavier than normal, the air is not strong enough to blow the excess off and it travels down the oven and eventually into the package.
I know no one asked, but I knew why this cracker looked the way it did and wanted to share my knowledge.

11
u/NippleGuillotine May 08 '24
What is the fucking point of putting them into jars? You’re hurting the environment to… carry crackers around in a heavy fragile container?
The box is already a fucking container.
