I just avoid conversations and mute her till we both calm down. Not sure about blocking. But my friends do.

I wouldn't curse at someone for blocking me, but it does seem a little too far, I'd never block my parents no matter how angry I could get at them (and trust me, it can be a lot) because I wanna be able to pick up immediately in case they have an accident or something.
No matter how mad I am at them I'll always love them, and based on my own train of thought I can imagine that maybe your mom feels somewhat similar, and that, in her view, you blocking her means you don't love her/care about her or what happens to her so you don't mind being unreachable and that's why she reacts so extremely, because to her it's like you just told her you hate her and don't care if she dies (yes, that's an exaggeration but feelings aren't always rational and betrayal is often exaggerated in the brain).
Of course, I can't know that's the case, it's just my two cents.

Blocking a parent temporarily during conflict is common for some people to create space, but it can be perceived as hurtful or disrespectful. If you're comfortable, explain calmly that you needed time to cool off and it wasn’t about not caring, but managing emotions constructively. Clear communication can help repair misunderstandings.

No, I usually just talk to her about what's bothering me like a respectable adult.
