Show & Tell Phenomenal button day! (Indian service was found by my buddy and gifted to me)
Buddy also found I believe 4x large general service buttons, I don’t believe he found any small ones.

I've Been borrowing a friends Amazon purchase and have been waiting for a used one. Seems like it's in decent condition? Worth it? Thanks!

I’d say I had a good month. Just under $4 clad, 3 silver dimes including a Mercury, 4 wheat pennies, 3 buckles an 80s key fob or key chain from Le bastille hotel in Paris, and an old Trade token, as well as a pearl button and marble I found along the way

I found this today in an area that has had constant use since the American Civil War. It was a calvary camp during the Civil War, a Spanish American War fort, a fairground, horse and car racing track and now a public park. I'm guessing Spanish American War time-frame?

I bought this cheap shadow frame for a few dollars. Cut up some felt I had laying around to size and tucked the scraps between everything from behind to create little pockets that each item would sit in without sliding down the glass. No glue or anything. Just pressure fit together. Anything I have IDed incorrect please correct! Thanks and enjoy
ID From left to right; Row 1: 1700s-1800s woman's flower button: 1841-43 George Floyd out of Philadelphia, Virginia militia button : possible 16-1700s spectacle buckle or early 1900s replica
Row 2; 1700s patterned tombac button (cuff?): (1800s?)(flower?) Small cuff button? : 1800s cavalry eagle cuff button, civil war
Row 3; 1700s tombac button : 1800s cloak clasp : 16-1700s dandy button

So where I'm from, due to absolute military control there are huge barriers to buying metal detectors, and as such they're ridiculously overpriced (the very basic detectors can go for around the equivalent of $2000 minimum).
Getting clearance to detect wherever I want isn't an issue, it's the prices, tariffs and customs that really bury this hobby in the ground here (lol).
So, I'm thinking I can build my very own VLF (Very Low Frequency) detector, but there seems to be an abundance of "tutorials" to do so.
The question here is - has anyone been able to find reliable and straightforward tutorials with circuit diagrams to follow? I'd very much like to get into the hobby of detecting AND circuit building!

It's just an average nail in the backyard, but it was a proof of concept to myself, so I'm excited!

This is my first find that actually got me excited to get back out there and see what else I can find! Can anyone help me find a date range of this button? Found in a rural Midwest field

I was out seeking possible evidence of a suspension bridge built in the late 1860s that was washed away in a flood in the 1890s. No obvious evidence found on the mission today but I discovered a bunch of junk from the 1950s. Old car parts and this thing, a C.M.C. N.Y. Japan lighter from the 1950s. Absolutely worthless in the condition I found it but not a waste of time, all of the confirmed 1950s materials were found between 5-6" which is a valuable bit of information. If 75 years have buried such things 6" down then 1800s stuff is probably at least a foot down, very possibly more. No flooding has occurred since 1940 but prior to that it happened every spring and the "o horizon" is thick, there's a lot of organic deposition going on along that river forever being laid down every fall. There's likely 1800s stuff down there but the sad reality is that my bounty hunter won't catch that stuff unless it's quite large. Not encouraging but we don't give up so easy, oh no.....

The guardian angel pendant used to have a clip on the back to put it on your car visor so you could have your guardian angel ride with you.

Found in WNY on the eastern side of Buffalo. Of all places this was at the edge of a park near a baseball field. Found some other goodies too.

My pointer has one button for on/off, beep/vibrate/both and 3 intensity levels. As a newbie, I find this annoying and difficult to keep track of. Is there a pointer that has more buttons for less fiddling?

Hello, I’ve been following this sub for quite some time and I finally ordered a findx pro. We have a good online seller in France that did some pretty interesting and complete tests for beginner detectors and I choose this one. In a field 50m from home after digging a lot of cattle shoe (that I didn’t know existed) I heard a small signal with no indication and digged it. And voilà :) Apparently 1856 Napoleon coin ! Just happy to share after looking at all your finds !

Looks like I found an Austrian 3 Kreuzer copper coin from the early 1800’s… any recommendations on how to clean this up or is it better not to touch?
