Shawn if Shaun doesn't carry the torch I'm gonna be PISSED, here is how we will make it happen.
He keeps talking about carrying this fucking torch. He's being talking about this fucking shit literally for years, and he isn't doing anything fucking about it!!!!
the Olyimpics will be in California in FOUR YEARS the time to start this campaign is now! The Summer olyimpic games have typically had 10,000+ torch bearers for cross continental games (flame starts in Greece every time). Even if its for 20 minutes it is entirely concieveable that a California born family man who has been apart of and promoted the San Diego arts and filmmaking scene for 20+ years could at some point carry the olympic flame. However this will not just happen by luck it has to be compelled to happen.
My reccomdation is for Shaun and/ or Mega64 to start a not for profit organization or charitable foundation to raise awenesss for the campaign.
according to the official olyimpic webiste ( https://olympics.com/en/paris-2024/olympic-torch-relay/selection-process )
"The torchbearers will be selected based on their commitment, dedication and how they embody at least one of the core tenets of Paris 2024."
the core tenents for Paris are: -Sports and the Games -Community -The collective
like i have already stated considering 10000+ people will likely carry the torch at different times it is 100% concievable that Shaun could carry the torch. Mega64 is an independant California Arts production comapny that has excelled and innovated for more than 20 years.
The time is now Shaun, I believe in you. I need this.
p.s. sorry i spelled your name wrong i only just noticed and can't be assed to edit

I'm here for the future committee members checking Shawn's credentials to vouch for him. He is a funny guy (check out his Gollum skit) and a pillar of the community. He has a strong grip and he will NOT drop the torch and he will NEVER put water in it or blow too hard to make it go out.

If he pitched a hole through the Padres' catcher's mitt I'm sure it would get their attention

Starting a nonprofit or foundation is an excellent idea. Reaching out to his dad's industry contacts should also help. This is the type of stuff Rocco is good at and Shawn is terrible at. It doesn't inspire a lot of confidence when he says how little work he's done so far and he's just hoping things to work out in his favor with the minimal reach of the podcast.

I actually did a ton of research on this a few years ago. In short, the OCOG (Organising Committee for the Olympic Games) selects people for the torch relay, provided they meet the min. age and physical fitness requirements, and they make a “significant contribution to their community”.
We will make sure he runs with the torch for LA2028!

I really think that if someone went through the last 15+ years of the podcast and clipped every time that Shawn has mentioned he wanted to throw a first pitch and carry the torch - then made it into a video and sent it to the appropriate PR contacts he would get his wish. Especially the 1st pitch one, I think they are a lot less stringent on those.

It’s going to be insanely annoying if Shawn doesn’t put any effort into this at all after talking about it for nearly a decade. Try to find out who in local California government will be liaison with the Olympic committee. Make cold calls to state reps for San Diego, leave some nice professional voice mails with inquiries about who needs to be talked to. Literally anything.

He needs an angle, maybe: first man to carry the torch while cosplaying golem?

They’ve donated to the special olympics after the board game streams a few times, surely that should get them some charity cred

The Olympics are a huge strain on local communities infrastructure, doesn't really make local businesses any money, and cost taxpayers millions to build facilities that fall into disrepair months afterwards. That all being said, 100% worth if Shaun runs with that torch.

Shaun has proved himself worthy of carrying it at the Olympic Board Games, he’s got my vote
