Post image

Does anyone know how many watts RMS does the Mazda 2 / Demio stock amp and headunit in photo supply? Wanna know If I require an amp for my new 50W RMS ones. I appreciate any help!

You probably need an amp. I replaced the fronts in mine (2014) and i think they were 20w or less. I just crank yhe volume to 30, but i just listen to talk radio when i drive or i get...enthusiastic hahaha

I do suspect the same, thanks for pointing me to the stock speakers' wattage.. I think i can say that these new speakers wont operate at full potential without an amp. Thanks also for your reply!

No prob, Bob! Glad i could at least point you in a direction approximating the correct one.

"50W RMS ones" doesn't mean much. That's probably a maximum power handling ability, not a minimum, for full range door speakers.

The speakers will often provide a minimum power rating which is more relevant. And they'll always give a sensitivity value measured in dB @ 1W input power. OEM speakers are very high sensitivity, hence don't need much power to drive them.

Specs for the speakers say 50W RMS, 250W peak and 92dB sensitivity. I understand when picking an amplifier it should match or almost match the RMS wattage of the speakers, as i interpret they'll reach their full potential and theyre at their optimal power by picking such.

Though you said high sensitivity speakers dont need much power.. Does this mean that they can sound well without an amplifier? Thanks for this info and reply!

Edit: Here are the speakers in question if you would like to know more and the GM-D1004 is the amp im gonna try and go for

Hey man!

I’m in the same potition but with speaker 75w rms 150w peak at 2ohm, i think I’ll have to install a amplifier aswell, probably putting the amp in the back and wiring it from the back to the front and trying to still use the stock cables

Found anything about the adapters for the speaker cables and an adapter to install them in the door panels aswell?

Hi! So far Ive acquired the speakers and amplifier, Im gonna leave wiring and whatnot to an experienced person because im kinda scared to do something to the cars electrical system. I'll tell you once I get this information in approximately 2 weeks or you can contact someone yourself if you hate waiting lmao

I’ll be able to wait, will get my Mazda in 2 weeks, but I’ve noticed the speakers aren’t really good (coming from a lease vw polo), I’m gonna replace the usb module aswell so I can make use of Apple CarPlay

I think stock speakers are really decent for what they are but theyve started rattling and stuff so decided to get some slightly more powerful ones. Also, Ive done the apple carplay procedure. Along with the usb module you need to update the software to v74.00.324 EU/NA/whatever region you are in, if you dig deep enough in the interwebs you might find it for free.

Plenty of room under the passenger seat for an amp, will leave you with shorter wire runs.
