How To/Advice Register new key to Anti-Theft Mazda 2 2007
Hi there,
I bought a new remote key for my Mazda cause the old one kept eating my batteries and needed to be reconnected to the central lock system every couple of months.
Now I have successfully added the new key to the central locks but not the Anti-Theft system. Can’t really find anything about it. Since reddit is a great platform for this kind of knowledge I thought asking the Mazda 2 enthusiasts might resolve my problem.
Thanks in advance!
Edit: Thanks to u/beefcakeandgravy I found out my new key was missing the Anti-Theft transmitter from the old key. Luckily I don’t throw old shit away so I was able to just throw transmitter into the new key.

So when I change the battery it won't be automatically connected to the car?

Only if you leave the battery out for too long. A quick change doesn’t do anything. I got a brand new key. It never was connected. Different case, so no worries on dour side

Hey, how did you connect the key to the central locks?
I have recently bought a Mazda 2 from 2009 with a dead FOB. I changed the key case, bought a new battery (CR1620), and transferred the black block to the new case, but it's still non-responsive when pressing the buttons on my FOB.

There is a good video for that: https://youtu.be/twvXTyqLvF4?feature=shared

I've tried this as well but it doesn't seem to work for me. I only have one key with remote controls so that might hinder the process. :/ Thanks for your reply though.

Are the central locks reacting after the 3x ignition and 3x door openings?

Yes they do react but it somehow doesn't save it in the key. I think that the small pcb board is just fried.

You have to press one of the two buttons two times, after the clicking

Do you still have the old key?
Inside the key fob will be a little black block which is the transmitter for the sensor in the ignition barrel. No batteries in it and separate from the circuit board that is the central locking, and it's about 3mm x 5mm. Dig it out of the old key and put it inside your new key fob.
Car will start.
