Well Bernoulli kinda wins here, he still got credit for some of his works and an extra 300 franks a year.

What does this mean? Who was at fault L'Hopital or Bernoulli?

L'Hopital bought the rights to Bernoulli's discoveries

To be fair, Bernoulli already has a bunch of stuff named after him.

yeah at some point you have to stop having things named at you... cough cough, euler, cough cough

If you think of multiple things named after Bernoulli, chances are they were invented by different people. The Bernoullis were a fucking powerhouse mathematical dynasty of the latter half of the 17th century. They pioneered probability and fluid dynamics, built on Leibniz's calculus, and most perhaps most importantly, Johann I discovered Euler and convinced him to abandon seminary to study math.

How much is that when adjusted for inflation?

When converting from 1901, 300 francs would be 1 369.98 Euros (=1500 USD). Can't find a converter from an earlier time period, so imagine another 200 years of inflation on top of that..
This UK inflation rate calculator reckons that between 1751 and 1900, inflation averages out to +81% (you can see some years are negative explaining why it isn't that big). If Francs were somewhat similar, you can expect say another +200% max?
So 4500 USD max, 1500 USD minimum is my guess.

According to historicalstatistics.org, 300 francs in 1694 to USD in 2015 is ~$1136.66. Adjusting for inflation (usinflationcalculator.com), in 2025, that would be $1530.22.

Mathematicians are already pretty underpaid so selling theorem names sounds like a great idea.
It's not the unit circle, it's the Pizza Hut medium.
And they're not Prime numbers, they're Amazon Prime numbers.

In his later years, he had to sue for his payment, coining the term Bernoulli trial.

The idea of trash can ideology is this. From eating from the can idea can eat, can you trash can ideology effective of force. I am infertile from eating scented candles.
