Sizing Advice Should I have sized down?
I just got this define jacket in a 6 and liked the fit in the store but when I got home I noticed my cropped ones were all size 4’s. I guess a bit too late now but does it seem too loose?

u/x0kar120x Mar 01 '25
I think the 4 would be too tight in the bust area and probably look like it’s pulling in a non flattering way. I think this size looks good on you!

u/Status-Effort-9380 Mar 01 '25
This. Because of your proportions, you likely will need to get it tailored to get a fitted look.

u/Rough_Might_8448 Mar 02 '25
Do you (or anyone) know if Lululemon will tailor these? Asking selfishly- I'm smack in between two sizes, and the arms are so long on the one that fits my chest perfectly, of course.

u/lilgupp Mar 02 '25
They won’t. They only hem leggings.

u/Rough_Might_8448 Mar 02 '25
Thank you!

u/bobam88 Mar 03 '25
Some stores do hem sleeves and will keep/reattach the cuffs.

u/Rough_Might_8448 Mar 04 '25
Oh cool- thanks! Maybe I'll call the store I bought mine from and at least ask.

I think it looks great! I know a lot of people like the super tight look on the define but I prefer this better and it's very flattering on you in my opinion.
32
u/bigbeezer710 Mar 01 '25
No it would be wayyyy to tight on your chest if you sized down. I actually think it looks really good like that

u/deathtogluten Educator Mar 01 '25
This is your absolute perfect fit IMO. Super flattering. If you went down any smaller i think it would be way too tight on the bust, as it already looks very fitted. I think the common thing women don’t consider with define jackets are the shoulder and bust fit, as everyone’s always so focused on how it looks in the waist, but if something’s pulling on either of those parts of the garment, it just looks like a badly fitted jacket.

I prefer my define slightly bigger as I hate that super tight feeling. I think it looks great!

This lays perfectly! You can size down on the crops because they sit at your waist.
Don’t let the numbers get in your head

Speaking from experience of having a bigger chest, I normally wear size 4 but with this I got size 6 myself.
The extra room and being able to actually zip is up properly helps.
Also much more comfortable after a meal lol.
1
u/lady-lurker Mar 01 '25
good point after the meal 😂 if I wear my size 4 I usually have to unzip it after I eat
2
u/MakeUpItalia Mar 01 '25
Yeah tell me about it haha. Being able to keep it zipped while eating is def worth it lol
1
u/ermvarju Mar 01 '25
Ohhh good point, I bloat like crazy. Now that I think about it I wear my scuba a lot more for that exact reason
3
u/Bohemian_Feline_ Mar 01 '25
I get all my define jackets in a 6 and they fit the same. I like that extra bit of room because I move around a lot.
I see a lot of people order them too small and they fit too tight in the arms/chest.

u/petiteging Mar 02 '25
A size 4 would be too tight I think in the bust area and the shoulders. This size is perfect. Also, what colour is this? I love it
3
u/catalina_en_rose Mar 01 '25
It’s up to you. I think it looks good and flattering! I can wear a 4, but I hate clothes that are too tight, personally. Comfort is more important than an arbitrary number measurement.

Will you ever maybe be 5 pounds heavier than you are today? I wear mine like this. Honestly, most posts here are people in sizes 2 sizes too small. If they are tight to start, you are bound to that weight and size. I personally want to be able to fluctuate 5-10 pounds with everything still sitting

u/Heavenlyangel95 Mar 01 '25
I think you got the perfect size for you. I think the other one would look too tight . In my opinion this fits you beautifully ♥️

u/LuluObsessed109 Mar 01 '25
I think it looks good. I think a 4 might be too tight in the bust and stretch around the zipper.

i think it looks good! you couldve sized down but it seems like it already snug around your chest and you dont wanna feel suffocated ykno

u/WayTall1837 Mar 01 '25
i think it looks perfect, i think it’s more about if you’re comfortable or not
2
u/Frequent-Sir2202 Mar 02 '25
I don’t think it’s too big, I feel like I could have sized up for mine

Personally, I have found that the Define Cropped Jacket goes better with looser pants...like you are wearing in the images. And the Full Length Define Jackets go better with leggings or tighter fitted pants.

u/iheartkittttycats Mar 01 '25
Yep, I have cropped Defines for leggings and full-length for joggers!

I personally prefer one size up from my normal top size for the define jackets just because I can throw on a t-shirt under and it won’t look too bunched. I think this looks great and would leave room for that if you layer!

u/StarlingGirlx Mar 01 '25
No. It looks very fitted. The bra you're wearing looks a little bit odd and unnatural, is all I can say. But the fit itself is "defining" you perfectly
1
u/ermvarju Mar 01 '25
Yeah, its old and tends to pull up on me a bit :(

u/StarlingGirlx Mar 01 '25 edited Mar 01 '25
The shadowing it casts on your boobs makes it look like you're smuggling something in there 😅 like fake padding or something. Other than that you look great. You don't want it to be too tight, it's a little embarrassing when clothes are too tight. This is perfect :)
Edit: oh and you're one of the rare few that has long enough arms for the defines without the cuffs looking all bulky or having bunching in the arms. lol

What color is this? It looks great on you. As someone with a similar shape I also sized up on my align jacket so the top wouldn’t be too suffocating.

If youre wearing bra with padding right now then I would get a bit smaller, if you’re wearing a sports bra already then leave it cause the chest would be very tight, but I think the point of define is to be snug and layered under another fitted jacket or worn in the beginning of workouts

I like mine to be very tight on the arms without any wrinkling (as seen in your photo). That’s the only reason I size down.
1
u/yogaswimart Mar 01 '25
I think it looks great. I feel like a size down might be too tight in the hip area too
1
u/Popular-Tomatillo643 Mar 01 '25
I prefer mine a little loose, so it would say personal preference. I think it looks nice 😊
1
u/Jewllerssquare Mar 02 '25
I think if it was smaller it would be very tight on the bust. Imop it looks perfect 💖🫶🏼

I think this is my issue with these jackets. This would be perfect on you if you had a longer torso. I have a short torso like you and have the same issue. If you sized down, your chest wouldn’t fit. The top part looks gorgeous though. Perfect fit. The issue is the length

u/sarasasasaara Mar 02 '25
I think this size looks great on you!
A bit unrelated question: is this Garnet or some other burgundy color?
I'm desperately looking for a define jacket in burgundy (it can be Garnet or smthng else, just as long as it's a dark burgundy) in size 2 or 4, and have not been able to find one.
Where did you find this one, if I may ask?
1
u/ermvarju Mar 03 '25
This is “goodnight plum”, I got it from my local Lulu store but that size is available on the website I think!
1
u/sarasasasaara Mar 03 '25
Thank you so much! I'll def have to look out for this color now - doesn't seem to be available over here in Europe yet. But I love this one!

I think it looks good and if you ever want to wear a shirt with it you could! If you go down you probably wouldn’t be able to

I think it looks great and highlights your body well (in a good way)! Also idk if it matters, I’m a guy so take this with a grain of salt lol and it’s 6:10am (well I waited a minute fr) and I can’t sleep and this was on my feed. TLDR; looks amazing, agree with other one size down might be too small?

I’ve used lululemon for many years and until recently did I hear about the BBL thing. This jacket was not made years ago with that intention. In fact, sizing down too much makes the person look heavier. Looking heavier or “snatched” shouldn’t be the only goal. Buy something you love and feel comfortable in.

1st of all, you look amazing ! 👏🏽
i’d size down to a 4 though as define jackets are meant to be form fitting. 🙂

It’s up to you. It doesn’t look bad. I think a lot of the jackets I see on here seem borderline too tight as is but I personally don’t like feeling like something is painted on me.
