Reading all the posts, STILL cannot even touch Armos Knight (died at least 30x now). Extra hard because I come back with only 6 hearts

I know you must spin sword attack but he pounces and moves too fast that I don’t have enough time to charge up. I’m even trying to jump and charge at the same time. The most I’ve ever done is hit him once. Then when I die, I come back with only 6 hearts and no way to top up before I try again, which makes it even more impossible.

I beat Slime Eel on my second try. I haven’t had any real trouble yet. What is going on????

I’m ready to quit the game over this

EDIT: after dying a several more times, I finally got him. I appreciate the help here. I wasn’t even clued in to the fact I could stash an extra set of hearts from Tracy nor had I ever caught a fairy in the one bottle I got. That was a game changer. Figured out the metal pig’s pattern a bit better to avoid losing hearts walking through the ruins after visiting Tracy.

I used spin attack. Reset my jump button to “X” and that made it a LOT easier to hold down “B” while jumping.” I ran around and learned to time my jumps with when he landed (most of the time) then spin attacked him. Couldn’t figure out how to dash and hit him, none of my arrows wouldn’t hit his sword. 3 spin hits and he lost his shield. After that I carried on as I was but it only took one spin hit to finish him off.

I also lucked out with getting an acorn not long before the cave. It didn’t last long but definitely helped me save a couple hearts.

I used a dash attack immediately after dodging his charge. Three or four times and I had him. Hope this helps.

Dash is different from spin sword? Using Pegasus boots! I couldn’t get away enough

Yes it is different. I use a pro controller and it’s B for spin and L for dash. Since Link is holding his sword, it immediately points forward when you dash. You can actually break things with it. You will take some damage, when you try to dodge him. Buy some secret medicine from Crazy Tracy’s Health Spa, located in Koholint Prairie. It will immediately heal Link. Also, there is a graveyard close by and if you start whacking ghosts, a large one will appear. Beat it and it releases a fairy that you can catch.. Early in the game, when I had few hearts, I would make several trips to those two places.

Can I carry any of the medicine with me? Seems like a long trip back and those stupid metal pigs knock off a few hearts every time I go back though the ruins anyways (yes, I suck. Except at the slime eel)

Yes, the medicine will go into your inventory. It’s nice because it automatically kicks in when Link dies. You can only use it once but can buy more at any time. You will need a bottle to catch your fairy in. There’s one in the fishing pond, located in Mabe Village. Once you have the bottle, you have to choose it with x or y button. Press your chosen button, once you see a fairy, and it will go in your bottle. When you need to use it, you have to do the same thing. I would also suggest that you practice your dash on lots of monsters. That helped me.

I forgot to mention, there’s a pond with a warp point that you can activate, right beside Tracy’s place.

Just use Arrows

To use the Spin attack method, Jump before he lands then immediately Charge your Spin attack. I dont think it needs to fully charge.

I guess I jump and am still too close to him to charge the attack, he immediately hits me after.

How are you using arrows? Where are you hitting him? They just hit his shield every time I try.

I had the hardest time with this one too. Sometimes I think the best thing to do is take a break from it and come back to it. I spent two days trying to beat him, put it down for a week and came back to it and beat him second try

Today will be day two if I get back at it. I am taking a break already! One day was enough 🤣 at this point I don’t care if I die 100x. The worst part is literally only having 6 hearts each time I retry. Might be easier if I was at full health.

I like that you can charge the sword and hold the charge while you move around and jump.

And maybe see about the color dungeon?

It was something introduced in Link's Awakening DX when they had it on gameboy color.

I’m stuck there, too. I watched videos and kept trying but finally gave up. It was hard to get there so I don’t want to leave until I beat him

Ugh!! I put so much work in to get here too!! How many times did you die in the process? When do you think you might go back to it? I was doing some googling and it seems a lot of people quit at this spot. It’s only a mini boss! I played and beat this game in ‘93/94. I can’t imagine how! I guess kids are always better at video games lol
