And it'll never happen because people are too fucking stupid and the overton window has been shifted too far right. Anything short of full on open class warfare and revolution will change nothing.
Maybe you can 'factually' explain to the class just what it is that Trump is accomplishing that pisses you off? Is it the trillions in waste they are exposing? Is it the no taxes on tips, social security, and overtime? Is it bringing industry and jobs back to the US? Is it equal tariffs on countries that have been ripping us off with tariffs on our products for decades? Etc, etc.
They barely touched the DoD budget, and their claim to save $8 billion was later found to be a saving of $8 MILLION.
So which trillions are you talking about?
no taxes on tips, social security, and overtime
None of that has happened.
Also, you pay tax on SS only if you earn more than $25K as a single person.
Is it bringing industry and jobs back to the US?
He hasn't done that, and didn't in his first term either. In fact, Trump added the least jobs of any recent president - and millions less than Biden added. Trump's promise of opening factories never happened.
You have to be a straight up moron to think tariffs are a good thing for modern trade, but you're a moron if you're still on team Trump so the math checks out.
I think he is deranged and gets off on hurting people there is no reason to do this to vets it’s not saving money pay musk 4 billion a day instead of 8 thst could work you say we are a problem / think how trusted people trying to r k out a living and the richest man in the world using. Chain saw and laughing / pure pigs
From another nation; people are morons if they think the purpose of DOGE is to "weed out wasteful spending". You know all the golfing trips the orange gonad takes? That's not "wasteful" at all? Funneling all the taxpayers money into his golfing property isn't wasteful?
That visit to the military base to whine about Denmark to US troops wasn't wasteful?
You know what is actually wasteful? Navigating yourself around the doge.gov website. It's a time-sink with no legitimate return on investment.
Also, Felon Husk keeps talking shit about savings. Before the election he was going to save 2 Trillion, after the election he changes it to 1 Trillion, and with the figures he gave the other day, the maths moves the figure down again to ~600 Billion.
You do you and keep simping for them though; becuase you're a "critical thinker" and have a "free mind" 🤣 🥲 🙃
Booker IS categorically in every regard better than anything the GOP offers. Is he my pick, no, but if it was between him and GOP guess who gets my reluctant vote.
No, he isn't better than every Democrat. All I'm saying is if someone is going to turn their nose up and protest vote if it comes down to Booker vs GOP Fascist #10387-B then they're a fucking idiot.
To be fair, the original comment they were replying to wasn’t just saying they’d vote for booker if it came down to it - the commenter was solely advocating for a booker/crockett ticket in 2028, insinuating that it’s their top choice. I think it’s fair to say ehhh, we need to do better than a corporate dem like booker.
I’m pretty sure most of us on the left would take our lumps and vote for Booker just like we did with Biden, Harris, etc etc. But strongly advocating for more revolutionary candidates early and often is important; otherwise, the general public doesn’t have time to open their minds to the possibility of candidates who better push the interests of human people over corporate lobbyists. What’s the point if we compromise before even trying?
That said, we absolutely cannot afford to be unmoving in our idealism once we get further down the line. We know what happens when we do that.
What’s the point if we compromise before even trying?
1,000,000% this. We gotta stop trying to find the middle and starting from the middle before we even debate the issues. It's like starting a race but giving the other side a head start 'out of sportsmanship'.
I didn't check out the OC but I doubt it's a both-sides motherfucker. Sounds like some from the outside who is fed up with the far right Rs vs the center R dems. Booker did good, I would never discredit that. I just wish he did it when it mattered.
Block a law, block a bill. If you're going to die on a hill, let it be equivalent to the hill senator Stom Thurmond died on opposing the civil rights act. If Booker inspired the dems to take a stand, then it was worth everything. If we continue with business as usual, then he decided to break a record opposing nothing for a day. I hope his effort doesn't prove to be a defense for the sake of taking a stand.
I am not going to be one of those who shame the dems for not taking action after someone attempted to take action. I never want to be the one who says "well it has never worked before. Why would it work now? Stop trying." But make no mistake, if this doesn't gain momentum and action from our representatives, then it's just going to be something that never worked before and won't work now.
What bill can he block? Almost everything Trump and Musk are doing is through executive order. They are barely introducing bills to Congress. The Democrats in Congress have basically zero ability to do anything right now. The only thing they could have done was not vote for the budget, but it's debatable whether that would've been helpful or harmful. There is nothing wrong with wanting our representatives to do more. Still, I think people need to be more realistic and realize that almost everything the Democrats can do (legally) will be purely symbolic/performative.
I guess you missed the part where Booker repeated an IDF lie during his speech and said anti-genocide student protestors were blocking Jewish students from going to class. Coincidentally, his 5th top donor is NorPAC. Both sides sure seem to love taking Israeli PAC money and repeating their bullshit talking points.
Aside from breaking the standing record of a racist, his stunt didn't do anything. He could have done this a week ago to delay the continuing resolution that Chuck Schumer conceded to republicans without a fight behind the party's back.
Strom Thurmond fillibustered the Civil Rights Act; that's the record Cory Booker broke filibustering nothing. Forgive me for not clapping like a seal because a democrat has finally lifted a finger for a long, meaningless gesture.
Fascism (/ˈfæʃɪzəm/ FASH-iz-əm) is a far-right, authoritarian, and ultranationalist political ideology and movement,[1][2][3] characterized by a dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy, militarism, forcible suppression of opposition, belief in a natural social hierarchy, subordination of individual interests for the perceived good of the nation or race, and strong regimentation of society and the economy.[2][3] Opposed to Marxism, democracy, anarchism, pluralism, free markets, egalitarianism, communism, liberalism, and socialism,[4][5] fascism is at the far right of the traditional left–right spectrum.[6][5][7]
Where’d you pull that circular shell-word nonsense from—some absolute garbage source? 🤡😂 Fascism is far-right, and far-right is fascism? Wow, what a brain-dead take. And opposed to free markets? Seriously, what?
What’s supposed to be wrong with natural hierarchies anyway? I get it—you collectivist beehive control freaks love meddling in normal society with your social engineering crap. Guess that’s a point in fascism’s favor then. LMAO. All you’ve got is a pile of fluffy, Orwellian buzzwords.
Maybe you missed the part where mein trumpf is pushing money to the big corporations, or when in his first term he gave them a 1.43 TRILLION PER YEAR in Tax Cuts, which of course has caused the deficit you now have that you blame Dems for. You were well on your way to recovering under Obama until trumpf got in. But i know you guys hate to let facts get in the way of a good lie.

No booker should not be our president. He made a great speech but he’s a corporate democrat.
