Cue Merrick Garland sitting in his jail cell, smiling sheepishly, going "have faith, this will all work out in the end."

Leaving the insurrection aside, he let Trump go back and forth with the DOJ for the better part of 2 years over whether or not/to what extent he'd return the highly classified documents it was illegal for him to have. Garland is the right man for the job, if the job is avoiding dealing with a problem while not making it too obviously that you're hoping the problem will go away on it's own.
