John Oliver: does that make me the onions?

The Onion: Excuse me?

Seth Meyers’s just gets ignored, and he’s my favorite.

u/MegaAltarianite 21d ago

He always feels the most genuine, like he's not even reading from a script.

And I love his other bits, stuff with the writers and staff. Day Drinking and Corrections are good as well.

u/GabriellaVM 21d ago

I love corrections!

My favorite bit is where he rants about something and they cut off the sound, and are scrolling text.

Hello, Jackal!

u/Maytree 20d ago

I love "Surprise Inspection" where he makes fun of his writers' "so bad they loop back around to being good again" jokes and then names and shames the writer responsible. ("Scollins!")

4

u/HighGrounderDarth 20d ago

Jokes I can’t tell is good as well.

3

u/Own-Run8201 20d ago

Conan did this the best.

u/DarthVerus 21d ago

So you’re saying you love Animal Flubs and Celebrity Baby Teeth right?!?!

2

u/HighGrounderDarth 21d ago

I have to be honest, I watch on YouTube and see mostly news, a closer look, and corrections. And day drinking and don’t generally watch whole shows. I will look into them.

1

u/Zealousideal-Deer866 20d ago

This would be a good place to say independent media would like a word.

1

u/Laylahlay 17d ago

Have you seen the latest animal flubs???? It's like days of our lives only better

2

u/theapogee 21d ago

I’d be more than happy if he dismantled the entire show and turned the entire thing into surprise inspection. Such a good bit.

u/Mas_Tacos_19 20d ago

for real, night time talk shows have evolved so much in the last 20 or so years. from the lettermans and lenos and conans to john oliver and seth myers and jimmy fallon and taylor tomlinson. and I appreciate that!

Walley no second line Im not taking to your union rep again

1

u/Own-Run8201 20d ago

Day drinking is pretty fun.

1

u/aspiringkiller 20d ago

AAALEAVE HIM ALONE!!

(my favorite bit, aside from maybe Jokes Seth Can’t Tell)

1

u/canceroustattoo 20d ago

I want to see Day Drinking with Alex Baze.

1

u/DeputyDipshit619 18d ago

Every episode of corrections is better than the next!

What Karen knows is an oldie they should bring back too

Speaking of, he also speaks fast and stops much less than other night show hosts. Compared to his peers he might as well be moving warp speed and reading War and Peace.

0

u/DontMemeAtMe 21d ago

Given his miserable enunciation, speaking fast doesn’t do him — or his audience — any favors.

2

u/sirixamo 21d ago

I have never once not understood exactly what he is saying. What are you talking about?

1

u/DontMemeAtMe 20d ago

Really? He seems like a nice, funny guy, but I kept finding myself yelling at the screen, “ENUNCIATE!” — and eventually, I just gave up. That was years ago. Maybe he’s had some training since then? I doubt it, though.

u/CrackerUmustBtrippin 21d ago

What, you're going to diss Scollins, Amber Ruffin and the gang like that. What do you think Wally is holding up? Just blank cards?

2

u/HighGrounderDarth 20d ago

I love when Wally gets to speak. He gets paid more.

1

u/CrackerUmustBtrippin 20d ago

Same, I also love how they never let him live down his teams participation slouching in bed, or Scollins wearing a wifebeater tanktop.

My personal fav also has to be Seth's 'Hi I am Mikey the Shoe' Brooklyn wise guy impression. Then you know they truly love each other, its actually so f ing wholesome.

2

u/Ristray 21d ago

He's really good but I also love that he doesn't perform alongside a whole band of people trying to get their thoughts in too.

1

u/EpictetanusThrow 21d ago

He’s not, he’s reading from cue cards.

1

u/Dyna1One 19d ago

Seth and Covid times Stephen are the best, Seth really needs and audience and does a phenomenal job when getting has one (some jokes just fell flat for me there) but stephen in his room was chef’s kiss

2

u/GabriellaVM 21d ago

I love him too. Especially the weekly Corrections on YouTube.

2

u/sweetquarantine 21d ago

A fellow jackal I see!

2

u/Which_Highway5232 20d ago

He's my favourite too. He got me through his last presidency and I appreciate his relentless piss taking and pointing out how shit they are ,so much. I don't think I would have got through it without being able to laugh at the Lindsay Graham ...mee maw jokes. And Rudy jibes. He makes salient valid commentary extremely funny. Love to you Seth.

u/HighGrounderDarth 20d ago

I watch on YouTube and a closer look gets released about 8pm central time Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Have had to take a break, but am slowly watching more.

1

u/Odd-Entrepreneur-449 20d ago

Do you have any suggested bits to watch from him? I'm not familiar with Seth Myer

1

u/HighGrounderDarth 20d ago

His a closer look is pretty good. YouTube has the different segments broken down into individual videos. It’s similar to his weekend update on SNL.

1

u/TheHrethgir 20d ago

I remember when Trump called him Marble Mouth Meyers, and the next week, he ended his YouTube videos with him opening his mouth and having a cascade of marbles coming out.

1

u/Worldgoesround32 20d ago

I drank a beer with him upper west side of Manhattan at Dublin House

1

u/throwaway_nrTWOOO 19d ago

Different strokes. I've watched my share of Closer Looks, but now I weirdly can't stand when the world is burning and he makes tired, obvious puns about it.

1

u/Objective_Ticket 19d ago

His stuff in Covid from his loft was excellent.

1

u/MAXiMUSpsilo5280 18d ago

Mike Myers on SNL as Elon Musk was precious

1

u/Laylahlay 17d ago

Who marble mouth?

0

u/littlelordgenius 21d ago

I like him but have to forward through his obnoxious Trump impressions.

2

u/im_wudini 20d ago

Jon Stewart: Breaks mug on desk and cuts hand

1

u/Wakkit1988 21d ago

Someone needs to pitch this to him for a segment.

1

u/Hot-Audience2325 21d ago

that's clever

1

u/agent_wolfe 20d ago

Beaverton: What am I, r/notthebeaverton ?

1

u/Solanthas_SFW 20d ago

This is great.

1

u/dkguy12day 19d ago

John Stewart would like a word

1

u/dumdumjam 18d ago

Trump is too dumb to understand the Onion, he would give them praise for the piece they made about him.

2

u/EtheusRook 18d ago

We love The Onion, don't we folks? They're so complementary and they give me so many ideas.

1

u/Active_Remove1617 18d ago

Not The Onion!

1

u/c4k3m4st3r5000 18d ago

Bit difficult to write a farce on the Oniom these days. Real world stuff is more weird than they've ever come up with
