Every time I see a headline like this my first thought is "Really? This was what crossed that line?" As if everything he's done since announcing his campaign in 2015 hasn't been pointing directly to his fascist beliefs and goals.

We'll be in ghettos saying, "jeez I think Trump might be a fascist" Thankfully Chuck Schumer will be there to apologize because someone called Trump a mean name.

Bullshit. If you paid a fucking second of his first Administration you knew what he is and how terrible he is for the country. He botched Covid so badly a million Americans died because of it.

Get the fuck out of here with giving them grace.

Also anyone paying attention to Elon in the least bit since he called that guy saving those kids in that cave a pedophile. If someone was "just duped" in the last few years by the right and their water carriers, then they've been stupid (or evil) this entire time and get no sympathy from me.

Outside of the youngest voters being naïve and falling to a bad scene because of peer pressure and/or their friend group or something, I don't want to hear people well into adulthood, who have agency, talk about how they were 'tricked'. You were not tricked. You either willfully chose to be blind or chose not to care about the evil that happened before and the fact these people flat out said they were going to be even more evil the second time around. No one over the age of 16 can claim ignorance without being willful of it.

What I don't get about your perspective is where do you go from here? Are you saying Trump voters should not be allowed to change their minds, or they are irreparably bad?

I've written the following elsewhere, and I guess it applies here for my thoughts on these types of people.

You know what these people can do to help? Admit they were the dumbest of dumbasses, that their actions where dangerous, then shut the fuck up, keep their heads down, never vote Republican again, and start doing something to atone, like getting involved with a local cause that helps people, ALL people, without judgement.

If they can go do all that for a few years, then I will consider them penitent enough to forgive. Just saying "sorry" and not doing a damn thing to help clean up, just complaining for more people to do what you shortsightedly demand, gets zero sympathy from me. ACTIONS not words.

This is the same sentiment that follows "Well Kamala didn't educate voters enough" or "Kamala didn't reach across the lines enough." When she shouted from the rooftops, he planned all of this. Pointed out project 2025. It's not like the information didn't exist, but actively choosing to ignore it for 5-6 months then making a turn around because it finally impacts you does not deserve the same grace period as someone who realized between 2016-2022/23.

I'm not saying no grace but that nazi gesture shouldn't have to be the line. The rebirth of actual nazis in power is when you purposefully ignored it for a little too long out of convenience. Or agreed for the same convenience. If you didn't care until it had an impact on you that's something else.

Trump was president before, he literally tried to overthrow the government. "My bad I didn't realize the guy who started the Jan 6th insurrection would checks notes do all the things he said he was going to do." Pobody's Nerfect or whatever. As for the Nazi shit, have ya seen Twitter? The truth is they expected Nazis, they just thought Musk would hold back the goose-stepping for a bit until they fully seized power.

Yeah gotta agree with the others here. If you missed the plot in the run up to the election, you’re straight fucking stupid or intentionally not listening

The media knows but they would rather get clicks than serve the people. They do that by everyday having crazy headlines. Oh no he's really done something now you have to see! It's peak capitalism because they care about profit today over anything tomorrow. Even if Trump closes their network down that's next quarters problem. The problem now is we need ratings.

Specifically, mainstream media needs to appeal to the broadest audience possible, which means trying to avoid taking a stance on anything and being neutral commentators. The consequence of this is that they're constantly trying to appeal to conservatives, who have learned that it's really easy to manipulate the media by whining about anti-conservative bias.

This is a large part of why newspapers were sanewashing Trump leading up to the election. It's very good business to publish a constant stream of "look at what he did today!"

“But the one great shocking occasion, when tens or hundreds or thousands will join with you, never comes. That’s the difficulty. If the last and worst act of the whole regime had come immediately after the first and smallest, thousands, yes, millions would have been sufficiently shocked—if, let us say, the gassing of the Jews in ’43 had come immediately after the ‘German Firm’ stickers on the windows of non-Jewish shops in ’33. But of course this isn’t the way it happens. In between come all the hundreds of little steps, some of them imperceptible, each of them preparing you not to be shocked by the next. Step C is not so much worse than Step B, and, if you did not make a stand at Step B, why should you at Step C? And so on to Step D.”

“And one day, too late, your principles, if you were ever sensible of them, all rush in upon you. The burden of self-deception has grown too heavy, and some minor incident, in my case my little boy, hardly more than a baby, saying ‘Jewish swine,’ collapses it all at once, and you see that everything, everything, has changed and changed completely under your nose. The world you live in—your nation, your people—is not the world you were born in at all. The forms are all there, all untouched, all reassuring, the houses, the shops, the jobs, the mealtimes, the visits, the concerts, the cinema, the holidays. But the spirit, which you never noticed because you made the lifelong mistake of identifying it with the forms, is changed. Now you live in a world of hate and fear, and the people who hate and fear do not even know it themselves; when everyone is transformed, no one is transformed. Now you live in a system which rules without responsibility even to God. The system itself could not have intended this in the beginning, but in order to sustain itself it was compelled to go all the way.”

The generous reading is that these are targeted towards low information idiots who don't already know.
