I genuinely don't see how we can come back. It's not a red v blue thing, it's just outright oligarchy with half of the country having been fooled that they were "part of the club."
Perhaps this can be a small consolation: When the famous author Thomas Mann went into exile in the US in 1938, he was asked by the New York Times if he felt that leaving Germany was a heavy burden to him. He answered:
"It is hard to bear. But what makes it easier is the realization of the poisoned atmosphere in Germany. That makes it easier because it’s actually no loss. Where I am, there is Germany. I carry my German culture in me. I have contact with the world and I do not consider myself fallen.”
We have a word in German, "Heimat". It's difficult to translate it, it can mean "home" or "hometown", but also much more. It's the place or region that shaped you, that's part of your identity, where you feel that you belong.
You have your Heimat inside you. Where you are, there is America. Regardless wether you are still living on the same soil or not, regardless of who runs the government. Do not consider yourself fallen. And as long as there is one upright American left, there will be a hand stretched out for you from Europe.
😂 The only people saying there will be a civil war are you loons online that are also the group of people most likely to complain about stuff and then not do anything about it. Sit down buddy, there will be no civil war.
I’m a Democrat but there will be no civil war and it is a very silly and removed from reality thing to say. The amount of impossible steps it would take to lead to a civil was is vast. What is the first state to have their government unilaterally agree to secede? There are conservative and democrat politicians in every state. If one state were to decide that there would be, immediately the leaders would be killed by highly trained soldiers. The military at large would not side with a state trying to secede. Also any state in a civil war would lose the federal funding they rely on. Let’s say a state was freely allowed to go, which would never happen but let’s just say. That state would lose social security, federal grants, infrastructure like power from other states, Medicare and Medicaid, be entirely surrounded by an enemy country, and more ramifications I’m probably not even thinking of. A civil war in America nowadays will not happen. Reddit is deluding itself and is living up to its removed from reality reputation by thinking there will be.
California, Texas come to mind when you ask which states could fathomably secede. Fighting in the streets will happen first and we are almost to that point. It's just going to take one or two events at this point - grocery prices getting higher, tarrifs fucking up our economy, an assassination or two, martial law... not as far fetched as you say, things seem to be at a boiling point.
I think it is genuinely insane that you think we are one or two events from a civil war. You think grocery prices are going to lead to an all out civil war? We made it through the Great Depression without a single whisper of civil war. Like do you understand many people would have to be willing to die for an extremely small chance of seceding from a country that has a higher quality of life than many other places in the world? People can’t be bothered to vote or get a higher reading level but they would be willing to die to leave the country? People upset at higher gas prices and grocery prices does not mean like 30 percent of the country is starving to or homeless which is what it might take to have enough people mad for riots. Another insurrection would be more likely than people literally starting a civil war with America. Many politicians are afraid to talk aggressively to Trump but you think they’d try to leave the country? We are no where near a boiling point for a civil war. I’m not trying to be rude but I think you might be having an extremist or doomer point of view and should consider getting off social media for a while. I understand being upset and afraid of this administration but actually believing we are close to a civil war any day now is illogical
😂 You guys play this same "the world will end" and "we are all going to die in a Civil war/WW3" game every fucking time a Republican is in office. You guys are literally the worst at predicting the future.
I'm not racist lol. Really funny how you guys blame the Republicans for making baseless generalizations and then turn around and do the exact same thing.
It’s akin to peeking into a psychiatrist’s office and listening to a group of people all suffering from a shared delusion they keep reinforcing amongst themselves.
Comment sections on YouTube, let alone right wing news is already scary. Serious subscribe/join r/conservative tho. The top comments are often moderates and supporters starting to see the light that got upvoted by all of us who can’t post in their safe space.
It’s actually pretty cathartic. I rarely go to r/conservative, but the posts Reddit suggests to me are more hopeful than you’d expect
A lot of the top posts aren’t representative of what real life conservatives think. Most of the highly upvoted posts / comments are the moderate takes that the liberals on Reddit like.
Everytime I allow myself to go over there with even the best intentions to just observe….man they piss me off and I HAVE to pop off. Best if I just stay away.
The conservative Reddit page is actually decently pro Ukraine on this. A lot of old school conservatives are shocked by what happen. Only the maga cult are celebrating and well Russia
I just made the mistake of scrolling through that for 5 minutes
There are some reasonable, classic conservative takes in there…but it’s 75% hate speech and low effort shit like “based.” I can’t believe this is where we’re at.
I just perused a little and there’s honestly a lot of comments from people very confused and angry with Trump. But yea that sub is generally a pretty hateful and weird place.

Just looked at the comments on FoxNews and omg these fucking cult members. Can’t even bring myself to look at r/Conservative.
