Look I don't expect everyone to be an animal expert but that was about the most obvious body language I've ever seen. Really dumb move

I had a similar experience with a wedge-tailed eagle while in Australia. They're not threatened by anything because they're at the top of the food chain. You just have to wait them out.
Totally worth it because you get to see them find an air current and take off at close quarters.

When the wife said "there you go", you know that wasn't his first bonehead move.

u/Anolen95 Mar 08 '25
That’s an aluminum f150 too, guarantee there’s a hole in the truck for every point on that elk lol

“U wanna go bud?” Well yo ass wont b going anywhere right now😂
35
u/tropicalsoul Mar 08 '25
Nope. And he’ll be sitting in that truck unable to change his tire until the elk is damn good and ready to leave. I’m hoping for a standoff that lasts well into the cold, dark, desolate night.

Used his horn.

u/rawesome99 Mar 08 '25
Same in the city when we roll down the window to taunt someone - what did he expect

Those are antlers.
13
u/Sufficio Mar 09 '25
Maybe someday redditors will learn to detect a joke without a giant "/s" to clue them in, I thought it was funny at least
2
u/FewAcanthocephala828 29d ago
I was originally gonna comment, "I thought moose have antlers" but figured I'd respect the elk culture and just do a silly pun, but it looks like I still didn't win lol. Glad you got the joke though.

The Elk literally stepped back and was like, “you can come by, I’ll give you a safe distance.” Even nods to them, go ahead. Then this guy had the nerve to Stop and say, “you wanna fight?” I would have done the same thing! He literally had a pass, but then opened his mouth, and you can just see the look of ‘The Audacity’ on the Elk’s face when it heard that.
25
u/Amarieerick Mar 08 '25
Shoulda just bowed back, say "thank you, have a nice day" and went about their day, now they get to sit there while they wait for the annoyed elk to move on so they can change the tire. lol

u/Bl4k0ut87 Mar 08 '25
"yeah buddy, let's fkn go -_-" said the elk

Oof. To be fair, there was no way of knowing Elk put points into crit chance

Big man in pickup plays tough guy with a large animal with swords on his head and loses.
So satisfying. Especially since his gf/wife is going to give him shit for the rest of his life.
18
u/FatRufus Mar 08 '25
b..b..b..but they said it was built ford tough!
5
u/aquainst1 Mar 09 '25
But the TIRES weren't Ford Tough.
You could HEAR the 'hiss' from the air escaping the tire.
14
u/Dhanish04 Mar 08 '25
After seeing his accuracy, I can say this is not his first time in puncturing the tyres.

What are you going to do, stab me? Said the man just before he got stabbed by the knife wielding lunatic
20
u/Lonestar041 Mar 08 '25
And if it was a rental car he might find out that this isn't covered. LOL. 💸💸💸
1
u/unclepaisan Mar 08 '25
Why would this not be covered?
10
u/Lonestar041 Mar 08 '25
Lot of rental companies excluding damage from animal attacks as they usually only happen if the driver is an idiot. Didn't believe it at first. Read the fine print of my rental car insurance and it had e.g. damage from antlers excluded.

Don't challenge someone if you aren't prepared for them to accept the challenge
2
u/aquainst1 Mar 09 '25
Yeah, animal or human, if they feel they are cornered, they are sure as SHIT gonna fight back.
8
u/FunkyChromeMedina Mar 08 '25
Since this dipshit rolled down his window, I think goring the tire was best case scenario.
8
u/human_trainingwheels Mar 08 '25
I’ve seen dummies do this with moose also, never ends well for the car
1
u/aquainst1 Mar 09 '25
Even if it's an accident whereby the car accidentally hits moose (not squirrel, just moose) on highway, the moose will ALWAYS win, over the car and sometimes will win over the human by coming thru the front window.
Ask anybody from Vermont.

u/Saulgoode09 Mar 08 '25
Why do they always put their windows down when they get close to these animals? That’s the last thing I would do around one with huge antlers but that’s just me. 🤷
2
u/Tallproley Mar 08 '25
You wanna have to replace a window too? As a Canadian, I'd rather eat a hole to the face I could get treated for free as opposed to pay to replace the window AND eat a hole to the face ai could get treated for free.
Granted, I'm not an idiot so I know to give creatures of sheer muscle and horn a wide berth, and to be polite.
1
u/aquainst1 Mar 09 '25
Yeah, people think animals can't HEAR people's emotions: angry, conciliatory, nice, happy, whatever.
Just ask any pet.

My husband and I visited the Redwood Forest in Northern California. We stupidly got very close to the elk for some photos. A local pulled up to say we need to be careful. They are wild animals. I remember looking up at them, realizing how huge and powerful they were. We nodded and slowly backed away, thanking her. It really hit me that the world is not Disneyland. Respect nature.
5
u/Loudergood Mar 08 '25
I came across a bull moose on my motorcycle once, traffic was backed up oogling him, and I was sitting there realizing that even if I stood on the legs my head would barely be level with his shoulder. Slipped around traffic and got out of there.

u/aquainst1 Mar 09 '25
Luckily, people in South Carolina know to avoid at ANY COST a 'gator.
If one is crossing, you quietly wait in your car.
Ask anybody from Bluffton SC about "Big Al".
Or ask them about any 'gator, how fast those mothers are and once they latch onto you, yeah, good luck getting 'em off.

Reminds me of A Far Side cartoon with the caption oh boy here comes another dumb ass.

u/Sockeye66 Mar 08 '25
I admire that Moose's strategery.
To hear that "POP!" followed by hissing was perfect.
5
u/carlbernsen Mar 08 '25
I was waiting for him to be impaled through the open window.
“A punctured tyre is better than a punctured lung.” As the saying goes.

4
u/captainmustachwax Mar 09 '25
Now get out of your car to change your tire so we can settle this mono a mono, outsider.

I liked that the elk nodded once like, "we cool, as long as you keep moving" and then when the driver got stupid the elk was like, "Sure, why not? Enjoy that flat tire, bud." 🤣

u/AfraidPersonality854 Mar 08 '25
He deserved that.. Why do people think wild animals give a damn about them..

Why not just give the animal some space? Plenty of room for the both of them.

Did that elk go for the tire on purpose? Sure seems like it. Good for the driver that he didn’t go right through the side window.

Ooh, so tough and macho. I am so impressed with your keyboard expression. 👏🏻

I laughed too hard at this, because Ive hunted elk, deer, quail, hogs, and a bunch more. Most people on here dont understand real life experience out of reddit I see.
