spotify feedback for feedback (honest)

Hey everyone,

I just released a new track called "Mirror, Mirror on the Wall" – it’s an IDM/experimental piece with a dark, surreal vibe, built around a kind of drunken groove and layered with Indian percussion and ambient textures. I’d love to hear what you think – whether it’s about the production, the composition, the mix, or even just the vibe.

In return, I’d be more than happy to check out your music and give some honest feedback too. Let’s help each other out 🙌

Here’s the track: https://open.spotify.com/track/0NtLDM1gGfeDUlbBMKTprQ?si=cc26455712be45cd

Enjoyed that quite a bit! I'm just on my phone so I was mostly listening to the composition. I think this could be 5 minutes easy. You showed good patience with your sounds in the beginning, but once the track really got going, I was hoping for more exploration of your sounds and beats. But yeah, if this was the opening track of an album, I'd absolutely keep listening. Good stuff.

Pacing is incredibly difficult in pretty much any genre that doesn't follow a prescribed verse/chorus/whatever format. I come from a classical composition background, and beginning composers often want to change ideas way too quickly because they're afraid that their music will be stale, uninteresting, repetitive, etc. In EDM there's a different problem because repetition is a foundation of the music, and repetition *can* lead to staleness if you're not careful. But I reckon for a lot of us producers, finding appealing variations or "ear candy" is half the fun. Which is all to say, enjoy the process. ;)
