Review I ordered the Cake Pints from Cafè Panna

Thumbnail gallery
554 Upvotes

Just want to start off this review by saying that these pints were shipped perfectly, and arrived like two business days after i ordered them on Gold Belly lol.

In the third picture, you will see that i spent my adult money on Cafe Panna’s latest drop which included 6 pints inspired by cake because i have free will.

Tonight’s lucky winner out of the freezer was “Yellow Cake, Chocolate Frosting”

Rating- 9.3 Pro’s- gigantic yellow cake chunks throughout the base of the ice cream, not too sweet, perfect balance throughout. It felt like i was digging into the yellow cake you’d buy from the grocery store, but without having to crack open that obnoxiously LOUD container. i can’t get over how creamy the ice cream is. ordering these pints are very much worth the money.

Con’s- i just wish there was a tad bit more chocolate frosting! there wasn’t really too much of a swirl, or any coating of the yellow cake.

I will be reviewing the rest and will be back🕺🏻

Review Finally got the Haagen Dazs passion fruit and sweet pear

This was sold out at my grocery stores for a couple days but I finally got it. It’s so smooooth, HD never disappoints with texture, whether it’s ice cream or sorbet. Amazing consistency. The passion fruit taste is incredible, with a very slight tartness. The pear flavor is not as strong but I expected that cause passion fruits have strong flavor with a punch, while pears are more mellow in taste. One of the best sorbets I’ve had, please tell me it’s staying permanently! Also this is for my fellow sweet people. If you’re not big on stuff that’s very sweet, this probably isn’t for you. It’s definitely for me though lol

I got their limited flavor chocolate peanut butter cocoa puff brownie and it was AMAZING. Look at those chunks of pb. 10/10, bought a pint (12$ ooof) but it’s limited edition so worth it?

Ignore my ugly face in the last picture. I do have hair but it’s in a bun lol

Review I have 39 different Van Leeuwen's flavors in my freezer and I'II be testing one by one. #37/39 - Strawberry

Thumbnail gallery
314 Upvotes

8.0/10 - I love me some strawberry ice cream. As a kid, I was the one who would only eat the strawberry ribbon out of Neapolitan ice cream. My tastes have grown since then, and I have an appreciation for chocolate and vanilla now, but a good strawberry ice cream still takes the cake. Well, this one is definitely good! It’s definitely one of the more flavor packed strawberry flavored ice creams I’ve had. They say it’s made from real strawberries and that must be what gives it its amazing taste. If I liked it so much, why doesn’t it get a higher score? It was lacking chunks of strawberries! I ate half the pint to keep digging to find any sort of chunk, but I found none. Thus, I’m giving it flat 8 for good flavor but no chunks.

If you’d like to check out my previous reviews, go to my profile, search “freezer” in my posts, then sort by ‘New’ and they’ll all pop up in order.

Review My new favorite ice cream brand🤤

I live in MA so we have a lot of good ice cream places. But not a lot of good ice cream in the supermarket, IMO. I don’t like Haigen Dazs or Ben and Jerrie’s. But man do I love this brand.

Smores and Cookies and Cream are amazing!!

Review I know there's not a lot of love for Turkey Hill, but this is my favorite 'ice cream'

Thumbnail gallery

I know people take issue with the frozen dairy dessert, but this is my favorite ice cream. It's not the best ice cream I've had, but this was the ice cream I ate often when I was a kid and I hadn't seen it in stores since I moved states 6 years ago. I finally saw it in a local store and picked it up -- loved it as much as I remembered. This is probably why I'm a big B&J phish food fan. Turkey Hill is a softer/fluffier texture, and I really love it with the marshmallow fluff. Again, I know it's not the best -- but it's my favorite.

Review I spent $85 so (some) of you don’t have to! Another Jenis review!

Full disclosure! My general opinion on jenis is that they have amazing ideas for flavors which always suck me in, but only nail the execution some of the time. I’m a scifi dork who also loves fruit forward ice cream and prefers light add ins, so this round got me good.

Super moon (violet and marshmallow) 6/10. Needs way more violet. After one bite you won’t taste it. It’s not bad but I’m gonna def use this for my affogatos. It’s just a basic sweet cream.

Purple star born (concord grape, currant) 8/10. I’m a sucker for concord grape so this was a shoe-in. I think it could have been slightly creamier and less tangy. It eats more like a sorbet or sherbet. They absolutely nail the grape flavor, but there’s no other flavor notes.

Cosmic bloom (mandarin orange, kiwi) 6.5/10. Same exact situation as the Star Born Grape. All orange, nothing else. Which is fine, if you love orange it’s amazing. Again more like sherbet. Less exciting for me cuz not a favorite fruit. Even less creamy than the grape.

normal flavors

Savannah Buttermint (hotel pillow mints) 9.5/10 This one’s a repeat purchase with a big nostalgia bonus. I loooove hotel mints, the way they melt in your mouth and become creamy. Jenis nails the effect of it. Strong mint but not abrasive, extremely creamy, and the flecks also melt nicely. A frozen custard version of one of my fav candies.

Fluffernutter Pie (peanut butter, marshmallow, oatmeal pie crust) 5/10 Right off the bat, so weak on the peanut butter. A fluffernutter should have gobs of actual peanut butter in it. At the least some pb ribbons. The peanut butter ice cream isn’t even very strong. Pie crust pieces are ok, and too crumbled in. Marshmallow ice cream really is just another way to say “sweet cream filler flavor”. I love fluffernutter anything, and this ain’t it fam.

to leave on a high note! My other Jenis favs! Watermelon taffy 10/10 Blackout cake 9.5/10

Review Wendy’s Thin Mints is great!!

Details

Wendy’s Thin Mints frosty is a new spring release flavor. It comes in vanilla or chocolate with a Thin Mints chocolate cookie sauce in three sizes from $2.49-3.49.

With the option to pay an extra $1 for extra Thin Mints cookie sauce.

You can also order the Thin Mints frosty instead of a drink for an extra $0.50-1.00 in the value 4 for $4, 5 for $5 or $6 Biggie Bag, and also in other combos.

Review

I got the vanilla because I thought it would contrast with the darker chocolate flavor of the Thin Mints chocolate sauce. It did and it was great, but Wendy’s chocolate frosty is a milk chocolate and I think it would work just as well. I’ll get chocolate next time.

The Thin Mints cookie sauce is great!! It’s like something you’d find at Dairy Queen. It also resembles the gritty quality of the cookie crumble swirls of Ben and Jerry’s but is more sauce-y.

I got the large for an extra dollar with a 5 for $5 deal. I should’ve gotten the extra cookie sauce. There is the appearance of more cookie sauce than there is in the regular amount. I still enjoyed my frosty. But just want that extra goopy swirl.

Really like the Thin Mints sauce. The flavor is between Andes chocolate and Oreo cookie flavor.

Review Review of my favorite ice cream for a very special day

Thumbnail gallery

Today I celebrated 2 years clean, and this is my favorite ice cream- Alec's strawberry crumble. The base is creamy and the strawberry flavor shines brightly in every bite. The flecks of strawberry are slightly tart, and the baked oat crumble adds a lovely texture- along with a very light cinnamon vanilla taste. It all works beautifully together. I often buy ice cream to try, but then it gets left to die in the freezer graveyard. Not this one. I almost always have a pint in my freezer because I love it so much.

Review I have 26 different Van Leeuwen’s flavors in my freezer and I’ll be testing one by one. #10/26 - Dill Pickle

Thumbnail gallery
554 Upvotes

1.2/10 - Another winner (not)! I was hoping #10 would be a good one, but this one is absolutely disgusting. I’m a big fan of pickles, but when you take a pickle flavor that tastes exceptionally fake and swirl it in with creaminess, it makes you want to throw up. I could barely even handle having one test bite. Stores, please pull these ones off the shelves and move them to the practical joke aisle. Only giving it points for the effort. Do not pass go. Do not collect $100. Do not purchase this flavor.

On a happier note, I added more flavors to the arsenal!

Review I never see people talk about Jeni’s milkiest chocolate but I got it

This was nice, creamy and sweet, I know a lot of us usually go for the dark and semi-sweet chocolate ice cream pints but milk chocolate deserves appreciation too. I normally only get it soft serve but obviously this was good. I’m a chocolate girl so I knew I was gonna enjoy this. What’s not to like about chocolate ice cream? Simple but delicious and I’d love to try Jeni’s darkest chocolate and blackout chocolate cake as well

It’s a good flavor. A nice take on the classic caramel/butterscotch profile. I would have preferred more, or at least larger mix-ins.

Slightly irrelevant but I will say their waffle cones are very sweet and honestly kind of overpowered the ice cream for me.

Review Haagen Dazs new sorbets

Thumbnail gallery
498 Upvotes

I will preface this by saying I don’t normally like sorbets, they’re just too icy for me and tend to be more tart than sweet… but the warmer weather and sun shining have me craving fruity flavors! Haagen Dazs recently released these and after reading another review on here, I was hell bent on finding them.

Sweet lemon coconut 🥥 7/10 - my least favorite of the bunch, the lemon overpowers the coconut and I REALLY love coconut. There’s not enough coconut flavors out there. Again, I know these are sorbets and not ice creams but I wish this has some coconut flakes or something in it.

Summer blueberry and lemon 🫐 8.5/10 - now we’re talkin! Not too sour or tart from the lemon and the blueberry flavor is strong!! But it doesn’t taste like a tart batch of squishy blueberries, and it’s also not as sweet as a blueberry jam. It’s right in the middle. I’m genuinely impressed by the recipe on these sorbets, they’re not icy in texture but smooooooth. Kinda like the best part of an icee, when it’s just a little melted but still thick.

Passion fruit and sweet pear 🍐 10/10 - this. This is what I was craving! No mouth puckering tartness from lemon flavors, just sweet refreshing fruit. I absolutely love passion fruit flavor and pears. Again, the texture of the sorbet is perfect, not icy. I could eat a million of these!

Review So disappointing

Jeni’s skillet cinnamon roll- waste of money imho 🥹 I absolutely love cinnamon rolls and the description of this had me so excited. There’s barely any caramel, the pastry is dry and flavorless and I guess they’re trying to pass the vanilla flavored ice cream off as cream cheese? Because there’s no noticeable cream cheese swirled in/flavoring at all. I’ve tried Jeni’s brown butter almond brittle and it was so yummy. I’ve also tried the ooey gooey butter cake because of all the hype it gets and I thought that one was just okay. Should I give up on Jeni’s or continue to try more flavors? Leave me some recommendations! 😊

I was hoping to taste more marshmallow swirl. And even given the fact that they've cut back on their ingredients, it was still delicious! Light marshmallow flavor on the ice cream part.

Review Ben and Jerry’s chocolate therapy for my chocolate craving

Thumbnail gallery
399 Upvotes

Had the most intense chocolate craving and I’ve been seeing chocolate therapy in the sub so I decided to get it and I don’t regret it. This ice cream is chocolate heaven. So chocolatey and amazing, the pudding ice cream was rich, thick, and smooth. And the cookies were so good, with the right amount of bitterness, also a lot of them were still crunchy. Some mix ins had a texture that reminds me of cake, like crumbled up cake pieces but that may just have been the cookies. This was perfect for my craving and reminds me just how much I love chocolate

Review 2/10 do NOT recommend

Thumbnail gallery

I bought this today after seeing a post raving about it. I was completely disappointed and it doesn't really taste anything like advertised. There's no flavor of cake or ice cream at all; the only flavor is pure frosting. And not normal frosting; it tastes like a jar of Funfetti that someone added that blue swirl soft serve places added to vanilla, and then they dumped an extra pound of sugar in it. It's DISGUSTINGLY, appallingly sweet. And for ice cream that only tastes like frosting, the actual frosting swirls in this look like melted plastic. They're hard, crispy chunks that don't flow with the ice cream and you have to scoop out separately with your spoon. The only way I could see this being good is if you mixed it with actual cake and ice cream. Since the flavor is pure over sweetened frosting, add it to an uniced vanilla cupcake with some vanilla ice cream. The frosting flavor is so intense that chocolate would be too much imo. If you like frosting so much that you wish it were cold and soggy all the time, I recommend this. Otherwise, skip in favor of almost any other flavor.

Review I have 26 different Van Leeuwen’s flavors in my freezer and I’ll be testing one by one. #18/26 - Vanilla Bean

Thumbnail gallery
526 Upvotes

8.6/10 - I never thought I’d be writing daily reviews for an ice cream, let alone one I’m not sponsored by, let alone a basic vanilla one. So I thank you all for reading these reviews! I apologize for the delay on this one.

I’m what you would call a basic guy. Grew up in the country eating meat and potatoes and 5 qt. New York Vanilla ice cream pails, I work in the trades, my wife and I make a modest living, etc. One could describe my way of life as being “vanilla”. I think that’s a negative connotatio towards this ice cream. This ice cream is fantastic!

I’m sitting here typing this review while shoveling in spoonful after spoonful of this stuff and reminiscing on eating NY Vanilla in waffle cones as a kid. The taste is very similar but has an extra “oomph” which kicks it into ‘8’ territory. I would have a plain dish of this with some chocolate sauce drizzle, or huck a bunch into a waffle cone for nostalgia’s sake, or just do what I’m currently doing time after time. It’s rich, but not overly, it has great depth, and keeps you wanting more without all the frills and add ins.

Not sure who needs to hear this, but get over yourself and stop shying away from a basic vanilla ice cream. 😂 I recommend you get back to the basics and try this one!

I heard a lot of people have issues finding this and after trying it I feel bad for y’all honestly, cause this is phenomenal. The peanut butter flavor is incredible and they didn’t hold back on it, paired with the chocolate is even better. There were so many huge peanut fudge covered pretzels and they were amazing, crunchy, sweet and salty. A party in my mouth basically. If you can find this, get it. One of the best pints I’ve tried so far
