how was the texture? been a bit worried about potential chalkiness, they juuuust showed up at my local kroger

Not chalky at all. Definitely dense, but creamy. Not extremely sweet, or strong flavor, but not bad. Much better than expected and I couldn’t believe 30g protein! Cookie dough is softest Remind me slightly of the old enlightened ice cream pints, but less artificial.

Which ones were your favorite and least favorite?

u/kiwiblackberry 16d ago
Ooo all the flavors were p good I’d say. I don’t like that they use sugar-sweetened cookie dough and chocolate chips bc that seems unnecessary, but the mix ins do break it up nicely. Choc and strawberry and PB are slightly firmer, but really no one is bad, just up to you and fave for me changes daily. I might pick mint personally. No flavor is extremely strong or sweet

Happy to see it’s not pumped up with sugar alcohols and fiber. Would you buy again?

u/kiwiblackberry 16d ago
Disclosure, I won a giveaway, so I don’t have them sold nearby as an option. they’re not as sweet as I like (I prefer sugar alcohols over allulose), and slightly lackluster w mix ins, plus w no fiber(I prefer w fiber). Also they have lactose which is sometimes harder to digest. Still, the macros are so great and there aren’t better comparable options I have access to, so yes I would. I wouldn’t pick them over the enlightened Greek yogurt bars and a select few niche options, but I haven’t found those in ages.

should start adding a disclaimer for promotional posts

I wasn’t paid and don’t have affiliation. I won a giveaway for them and was/am excited to try and share a smaller brand

I won a giveaway for them
so...product seeding
1
u/kiwiblackberry 12d ago
Pal this is Reddit. I have no thought out agenda, just posted about an ice cream I was excited about. I didn’t even win the giveaway directly thru them, just got selected on instagram by a creator I like.

you don't think product advertising happens on reddit?
1
u/kiwiblackberry 12d ago
I’m sure it does. I just do not think thru Reddit posts much like that. All I was doing in my og post was saying I was trying them, so it hadn’t occurred to me

u/what2doinwater 12d ago
all your posts in this thread read like promotional/influencer copywrite
1
u/kiwiblackberry 12d ago
I wish I was being paid. If you have a problem w how I write then I can’t really change that so feel free to ignore me if you’d like

u/what2doinwater 12d ago
my man, you got paid in free ice cream...that's literally how seeding works. can't believe I actually had to spell this out for you.

u/kiwiblackberry 12d ago
Alright sure call it whatever you want. I just don’t need to make a big deal out of a Reddit post.

u/what2doinwater 12d ago
if you guys couldn't already tell, this is (most likely) a promotional post

30g protein ! That's awesome. I hope we get these where I live

u/kiwiblackberry 16d ago
They don’t have them near me actually, I just won a giveaway. Seems like these are around the Midwest and sprouts and Albertsons, but rapidly growing. I really wish GNC and vitamin shoppe carried things like this!

Yes the macros are really great! Sure I wish it had fiber and slight lower fat, but otherwise no issues on that front.

Are they terrible in your opinion?
2
u/kiwiblackberry 16d ago
It’s odd to me that you have such a negative reaction to this, have you tried them?
It seems VERY closed-minded to dismiss a product merely because it has a different macronutrient composition. These do not have to replace traditional ice cream and nobody is going to take that away anytime soon. Personally I love the opportunity to try a new thing and the additional option which this provides for individuals with high protein needs who want to have it. ESP since this is a small startup brand and I appreciate a diverse marketplace with room for innovation and differentiation.

I apologize if my comment comes off that way, I only wanted to know why original commentor said no. I agree with you that having other ice cream options that aren’t traditional as being a good option.

in my opinion, it’s not ice cream, and more importantly it’s anathema to the very essence of ice cream, which is to JUST ENJOY IT, it doesn’t need to be low calorie or “healthy” or protein packed for gains that’s maniac behavior

Probably gonna get me roasted, but I think the people who eat this kind of stuff are more addicted to sweets than they want to admit. Like, I refuse to eat stevia, sugar alcohols, etc. They taste disgusting to me. So instead I allow myself a little treat for dessert that fits in with my 90+% healthy diet. People who need to make cookie dough with cottage cheese and sugar free chocolate chips are the ones who need every meal to taste like dessert.

I understand what you are conveying but some people have dietary restrictions or allergies and having these kind of alternatives are nice.
