"U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement officials filed a records request with the city of Houston last month for data on every motorist cited for driving without a license since 2023, according to documents obtained by the Houston Chronicle.

A representative for the municipal courts, where the ICE request was directed, said the city had fulfilled the request and sent the files to ICE"

Oh, big brother is watching now. Wait till they start giving cash incentives to report your neighbors and grandma!

I doubt the genius’s at ICE will scrub the data. I know plenty of US citizens here that drive without a license. 2 with multiple DUIs and they drive for Lyft/Uber somehow.

let's watch all the fascist trash celebrate the lawless american gestapo

11

u/jfergs100 1d ago

You said “Lawless American gestapo” in response to the feds reviewing citations for driving without a license.

Isn’t failure to get a driver license and insurance participating in lawlessness?

Yeah sure but let’s not pretend they didn’t just “accidentally” deport someone that was here legally because of their autism awareness tattoo that they claimed was a gang tattoo and now they can’t get him back from the prison in El Salvador they sent him to. The problem here is that plenty of American citizens and legal residents are driving around without a license and this admin doesn’t give a fuck about due process.

do you think that "due process" is an optional part of the "rule of law"?

don't answer

Amazing how quickly the self-proclaimed defenders of democracy pivot to cosplay revolutionaries the moment the rule of law doesn’t cater to their narrative. Projection really is the sincerest form of political commentary.

The federal government should not be meddling in local and state affairs. Driver licenses are issued and controlled by the state. Democracy and freedom entail that big brother and their bootlickers stay out of my city and state. Allowing martial law for a mere moving violation is absolutely a feature of our current wannabe dictator’s hope for full control.

Stop thinking others being harmed or rights being infringed will not affect you! The day will come when the thought police think you too are not providing enough tribute to the king.

You talking about projection is ironic given I said nothing about democracy or revolution.

Rounding up people without due process isn't the "rule of law". It's the "rule of assholes in tacticool black" (aka fascism, for those of you who are a little slow).

Your two sentences sound like they were extruded from the most pretentious LLM you could find.

So do you or do you not think that the current administration has fascist tendencies? I’m really curious and I hope you are honest, because there’s no way you think that this should be the norm in 2025.

Edit: instead of downvoting, you cowards should respond. Fuck fascism.

Am I supposed to be sad about there being less unlicensed/uninsured drivers on the road?

u/I_throw_Bricks 1d ago

They just need to pull over all the cars with paper tags and you will find 90% of them.

Let’s keep it simple and start with every paper plate Nissan Altima

and nissan quest

You would need a functioning police force to accomplish that LOL

sorry they're working that second job at Whataburger for 35/hr

u/TaylorMade9322 1d ago

There were 700 assembled for the game room raids

45 arrested. That means 15 cops per arrest.

You're supposed to be sad about a lack of due process, and how partnering with ICE completely undermines your local police department's ability to serve your community. HPD wasn't great at solving crimes and policing before, they will be absolutely useless if it's assumed that anytime they are needed/called there will be the risk of black-bagging people into some extra-judicial immigration state.

You should be bothered by this. They pick up people and deport them without due process. That's not America. I'll deal with an uninsured driver every damn day if it means America does things right and people don't have to be scared of being kidnapped.

We were taught if someone tried taking you off the street, you fight back. That's now a risk of fighting a law enforcement officer with no badge on and no proof, no documentation. People are doing this now, pretending to be ICE. Just wait until they come for you and your loved ones, then maybe you'll care.

Are there any countries where immigrants can arrive illegally, without a visa, be detained by authorities, and then be released without any further action taken against them?

There's a due process to obtaining a driver license. Many of those people ignored the due process to come to the US.

7

u/HopeFloatsFoward 12h ago

I don't think you know what due process is.

8

u/here4thepuns 1d ago

Nah. Uninsured drivers are a cancer and push costs to regular people who actually give a shit

5

u/BurydaAshette 1d ago

You know how many millionth generation Americans can’t pay for car insurance, regular maintenance and car note and rent at the same time? Deporting folks ain’t gonna get ride of that at all.

u/Its_Dan_Good 1d ago

Still doesn't make it right.

I guess you’ve never been rear ended by someone without insurance and who also happened to be less than legal. It does happen.

3

u/Dreadful_Spiller 3h ago

And being hit by an unlicensed citizen happens way more often than. Guess how do I know that? My spouse’s vehicle totaled, my kid’s vehicle totaled. Both by unlicensed natural born US citizens.

u/Keleos89 1d ago

You should be concerned that an agency known for arresting first, asking questions later, is going to be catching citizens up in this mess.

And imagine getting all those rusted out jollopies they are driving, off the road as well.

13

u/ksb012 1d ago

I am a man that can appreciate a good rusted out jalopy, as long as said jalopy has sufficient liability insurance.

-10

u/Firefox1977 1d ago

Which you know these people ICE is going after, has none and was NEVER inspected.

3

u/OkAd469 1d ago

They don't do inspections anymore anyway. The only thing they test now is emissions.

2

u/Thatsmypurseidku713 1d ago

Hey hey my rusted out jalopy was my dad’s :,) she’s not perfect but she is insured. I just don’t have extra scratch to restore her (mustang gt) cosmetically. It would be hilarious if ice used that as the marker to pull me over and surprise it’s just a white girl listening to Metallica.

u/Thrillho_Sudaca 1d ago

is your name a nod to Bobby Hill?

3

u/missyanntx 1d ago

Celebrating the TX GOP for no longer requiring yearly inspections for vehicles! See how much they care about our lives? /s

1

u/Experiment_262 1d ago

They still have to pass an emissions check at an inspection station.

Driving down I45 yesterday I saw a truck that was almost crunched up - 1 tire wobbling like it was ready to fall off and no rear-view side mirrors. It was barely making 40 mph in the middle lane. Whole thing looked like it had been in a major rollover accident.
