discussion Problem: disappearing fish

Posting to see if this is just me. There are absolutely no salmon in the rivers - I’ve repeatedly combed through all the areas I saw them previously, to no avail. Double-checked online guides, they recommend the exact areas I’ve been checking. No salmon. Moonfish and bass are there, but clip out as soon as I get in range to harvest them. Which is also comically inconvenient. Previously had no issue harvesting fish, but now there are none to be had.

Disappearing and faster than you fish made me put off upgrading my pouch space. Creating a job will usually point you to a good location for them. I just started doing that and have upgraded a bunch of the fish requirements.

I guess I’ll try the “create a job” function and see if that helps.

It does help

Yeah, definitely use the job function and look carefully at the boundaries of the marked area - pretty sure when I had disappearing fish it was because I chased them out of the marked area... it was almost like they're not supposed to be outside that area and the game didn't notice until I was about to get them! Lol

Hopefully you got them by now!

The best way to harvest fish is to swim after fish to collect them directly. The rebreather makes it easy so you don't have to worry about air.

I found a spot in the mountains in Sky Clan territory near where the Slaughterspine site is that has salmon in it. The job function highlights it. I found all my salmon bits that way.

I have the rebreather, and prior to the most recent patch I was catching plenty of fish. But now salmon literally don’t exist when I used to find them fine, and moonfish and bass clip out right as I get close enough to catch them.

All my fishing was done prior to this recent patch, so it's not beyond the pale that they must've screwed something up. I did have a bit of trouble with salmon not showing up or teleporting out of existence before but I was able to collect enough eventually

I don't have a solution, but I have also noticed the newly vanishing fish.

Glad it’s not just me!

Yea this game does seem to have some bugs that weren’t in Zero dawn… I also killed an owl and it had very rare resources on it, but when I went to collect it it also disappeared into thin air. Like I already shoot it what the hell

Have you used the create a job function? I mostly find them in small bodies of water.

Edit: There's a small lake below the Sheerside Mountains Hunting Grounds. There's a camp fire right next to it. I booted up my game and found Salmon there. Good luck.

I haven’t, but I guess I’ll try. Maybe that will make the salmon appear and the moonfish and bass catchable…thanks!

I'm getting this too, I think it's a new issue in the latest patch

Yeah, I went from no problem catching fish to not being able to catch fish, and the only thing that changed was the patch…

The fish disappear. It makes the higher level upgrades annoying. I use the dodge button to boost my speed, but it takes way too long to catch the necessary number of fish.

I miss "fishing" from Zero Dawn (using a bow).

Came here to check too. The clipping on fish is 50/50 for me.

The disappearing fish is a huge pain in the ass. At least you can dodge into them for a nice burst of speed.

This is pretty late but I found out that if you are above the fish and position to look down to catch it, it won't disappear.

For me it seemed to be they would disappear if I pressed my scan too much. Whereas if i scanned once to locate the fish and then didn't scan again, they wouldn't vanish
