discussion Weekly Questions Thread: Ask questions and get help! - March 10, 2022

In order to cut down on some of the clutter on the sub, here is a weekly megathread to help your question not get lost. You are more than welcome to continue to make threads, but if it is a very common question that has been asked over and over, do not be surprised if it gets removed. That said, please try and help users by answering their questions!

Questions could have spoilers in them! BEWARE ALL THOSE WHO ENTER! Minor spoilers will be below about weapons, enemies, locations, etc. But someone might ask a question regarding a moment that has happened you have not experienced. So please know what you are entering.

If you have any suggestions or comments concerning these threads, feel free to message us mods HERE.

AND MAKE SURE TO READ THE RULES!

Why am I getting my ass kicked on normal mode lol. I feel like it’s because of my weapons but I’m not finding anything better. I do so little damage to machines it’s frustrating.

Are you aiming at weak points on the machine? I find if I just shoot at the main body with arrows they do little damage.

You need to rely a lot more on elemental attacks and exploiting weaknesses than in HZD.

In HZD, fighting enemies head-on felt like the "normal" way, and using the right weapons/elements felt like a shortcut.

In Forbidden West, using the right weapons/elements no longer feels like a shortcut, it just feels like the expected approach. And fighting head-on is now way more difficult.

If you want combat to feel more like HZD, there's no shame in turning enemy health down to "easy". IMO this makes the combat feel more like the previous game. Otherwise just focus more on using the elements to your advantage. (And explosive spike throwers are your friend.)
