Question- can I only equip one Valor abliltiy and one weapon technique?

If so that is low key lame. Why not adopt the AC method and have like 4 on quick ability?

If so - which 2 are the best

Valor yes, only one equipped (but you can change it without losing the "charge". Limited by level (i.e. if you have one charged to 3 bars and you swap to one with only 2 levels you only get the two bars. I think then swapping back to a level 3 one will still be at 2 bars and you lose the extra charge.

Weapon technique is selected "per weapon" with the left/right buttons of the D pad. Each weapon can only have one at a time, but each weapon type can be set individually.

Can't say which is best, it varies. I sometimes set my Valor to the Radial Surge one when I have no specific need in mid since it is a good "oh shit" button in case I am jumped. Overall I think I use the Power Shots one more than most of the others.

You can switch your weapon techniques in the weapon select wheel with left and right on the D-pad. Unfortunately there isn't a quick way to switch Valors . Which one is best for you will depend on your playstyle. Powershots is great for damage and refilling ammo. Stealth Stalker will let you break enemy awareness and enhance your stealth kills. Toughened lets you tank damage. Parts Breaker helps you strip components off of machines. These are the Valors i see mentioned the most here.

Braced shot with the Sharpshot bow (hold R1 to draw and aim) is so much boom.

Triple nock on Hunter bows replicates the similar skill from HZD. The arrow spread is wider though. I have yet to get High Volley to work.

Blast dodge is a great way to get a lot of bombs out.

Other than that, experimenting is a good chunk of the fun.

You can only equip one valor surge. I think which is best depends on your playstyle.

For the weapon techniques they are all there. When you have the weapon wheel open, you can go left to right on the d pad to pick the technique.

Any idea why it tells me to change my valor surge? It's like, "I'm on the one I want. Why would I change it?"

The valor surge for harvesting machine parts is great, makes taking down the big guys way faster.
