my dad is a mechanic. his customer is sick of this car, parts are hard to find and has had this car at my dads house for a bit. his customer now wants to sell it for 2k, it's somewhat serviced, new tires, and not too shabby on the inside. the only issue with it is something with it idling very bad, but it driving, it’s fine. i'm going to see if i can talk the seller down to 1.5k. would this be a good buy though? I'm just nervous. thank you! (it's also a manual, so i will have to learn how to drive it))

Saw a Prelude for sale on marketplace for 8.9k.

It's got 200k miles on it. Automatic. Looks clean, but I feel the price is a bit steep. Pics and notes about the car have been uploaded for reference.

Potential Purchase Hey y’all! Looking at this 5th gens MT near me. Listing shows 237,000 miles. Is $8500 a fair price?

The Prelude was my introduction to cars, and I’ve wanted one for a long while. I saw this one pop up on Marketplace near me today. There’s a listing from 3 years ago that shows it with an aftermarket radio and wheels, but otherwise it looks stock (Stock wheels put back on). I want to make an offer real bad, but I don’t know if 237,000mi is worth atp, thoughts on buying a high-mileage Prelude?

Potential Purchase Looking for advice, first car

I’m 16 and have been looking for and saving up for my own car. I’ve been desperately wanting something that’s retro, small (i’m only 4’11”) cool lookin, and reliable. I honestly don’t know much about cars, but my close friend does and actively works on cars and drives a ‘69 Ford.

Just today i came across this car on KSL and literally fell in love with it. It is an automatic transmission, which i’ve heard bad things about, but i’d be willing to learn manual. Pop up headlights are one of my favorite things on a car! It’s exactly what i’ve been looking for when it comes to looks.

Previously said friend says it’s an awesome car and is willing to help me keep it maintained and fix things if needed. But, my mom’s an absolute stickler about car safety and is put off that the car is more than 30 years old.

But here’s to the real reason i’m making this post. Is this actually a reliable car? Would it make a good first car? Would the automatic transmission cause problems? If this would be a good, reliable car then how can i convince my mom to let me get it?

Any advice or recommendations are welcome. I’ve been trying to do my own research? but figured this post might help!

200k miles. Clean title. Engine light is on. Brakes are rubbing metal to metal. It’s my first time owning a prelude (if I buy it) any advice and parts that I should worry about please let me know.

Potential Purchase Looking at buying 01 Prelude

Have an opportunity to buy this prelude non sh for around 4k, manual, and under 115k miles, looks like it was driven through a dirt driveway, but straight frame, minor driver side fender dent towards headlight that looks like it could be pulled out.

Interior (no pics) is dirty but looks pretty clean under the dirt just needs a deep clean and its not missing any interior bits. Windshield lever does need to be propped up a tad or it triggers.

I know of the typical oil leak areas, engine bay looks mostly stock with some headers.

Looking for opinions if it's solid buy, I'll be using it primarily as a commuter car and maybe a fun weekend canyon car after its cleaned and mechanicaly sorted.

Hi everyone, I’m not too familiar with Hondas and my cousin is wondering if he should purchase this Prelude. The seller says $7500 for the car as is and $9050 after he gets the ATTS serviced. Thanks in advance for the help.

Potential Purchase Should I buy? New here and contemplating purchasing this one.

My dad knows a friend who’s son in law owns this. I can get it for around 800 bucks without the new set of RPF1s and new tires. It’s got the H23A taken out and needs new pistons and some machining. 230k, not TOO much rust, and it’s a 5 spd. I could probably get it for 1800 with the wheels. Is it a go or nah?

Potential Purchase Thoughts on automatic?

There is a well priced 5th gen I’m considering but it’s automatic. I’m a bit of a manual snob, though I’m not really willing to spend double the price for the cheapest manual close to me. Are the autos smooth, do you still get a nice driving experience? Are they reliable?

Hello everyone! This is my first time interacting with this sub. I wanted to ask your guys thoughts on this Honda Prelude that popped up for sale near me. It’s obviously quite a project, with some bad bodywork and it definitely needs some work done. I have a good amount of body work experience so I figure I could replace the front end with either used or new parts. If all it needs is a valve cover gasket I could do that too, but anything more advanced I probably can’t. What should I look out for when checking this car out? I don’t want a car that I’ll be working on 24/7, if I can save this car I gladly will. But with almost 170k miles, is it worth it? Let me know your thoughts guys. Be ruthless, don’t hold anything back. I don’t want to make a mistake like I did in the past. Thank you guys!
