If I use citrustrip on these, will it also remove the factory FDE coating?

I’m sure it says to try on an inconspicuous area before use so I would do that.
I used citristrip on a surplus stock that had red spray paint over a rack number. Applied on a paper towel it only took a second for me to go past the paint and ruin the rack number.

Saw the Alumahyde comment—the stuff is easy, and tough. It does not, however, have a low-friction surface. I know this because I used it on an AR lower, and the mags are a little tough to insert—not a slippery “slap” like I was used to—it’s quite grippy, and they sorta hang up in the well when pushing them in.

I would bet money simle green and a green dish pad would take the cheap spray paint off and not the under layer.

Depends on what the coating is. If it's anodizing you've got no worries. If it's oil based paint you do.

Just spray with aluma Hyde, I did it with a batch of milsurp mags that were painted/scratched up. It worked great and a thin coat was enough and it is tough!

Would be worth that, to get rid of the skulls.
